Becky don't paint the doorbell black, you're gonna hate a black box that draws the eye. White is a better choice...it will blend with the trim as far as drawing the eye. The place looks good. I'm so happy for you and Josh.

I have the same thought. Painting it black will draw your eyes to it. I would paint it white or the wall color.

I agree Becky, if you feel the need to paint, match the walls or trim. It’s better to blend. The doorbell actually adds a little warmth that you could play on with decorations…❤

You’ll have to learn to be patient and watch and see how things come together. I’m sure your builder will do what he said he would. Patience child, you don’t want to aggravate your builder.

Becky, I like to keep a baby food jar of the wall paint in y cupboard so that if something gets scratched or I move a picture I have that dab of paint at hand to touch up! Love the color you chose.

@Bev Airey yup! I need one too. I used to be a perfectionist and fastidious in keeping my house clean. Shoot you could literally eat off my floors. Now that I am way way older it's just not going to happen. A little dirt doesn't harm anyone.

Becky! Your mindset is so refreshing. I will say I’ve been to friends and close family homes while they’re working on a project and I LOVE seeing and hearing about the progress. It’s just really special to see someone’s dreams coming to life 😊 While it feels a little chaotic right now it will all be done when you’re gardening this summer! I’m perpetually impressed by how much you get done while caring for a newborn. Whew, you’re a rockstar!

Personally I would paint the doorbell cover the same color as the walls. It isn't something I would want to highlight.

I agree! As an adult, I have so much appreciation for my parents when they were alive. I miss them terribly, but looking around my home has them with me everyday…my parents were like hers, helpful when asked and always fun to be around….wonderful, happy memories….

Definitely appreciate your parents, one day you will miss them for the rest of your life. I'd give just about anything to have a day with my dad and my kids. I was a single mom raising three amazing kids when he passed away. I visited my mom today and she is so different. She's got dementia. So Becky while you guys have your parents and Josh's parents take pictures with them of just ordinary day's, those are the moments you will miss the most. Thank you for taking us along on your great adventures. Life is a beautiful thing! Blessed, we are so blessed!!

Don’t ever put paint back in the bucket. Hair, dust, bits of paint that dried a little, will contaminate the good paint. We had to throw out 2 gallons (of a 5 gallon bucket) because it was coming out with so many little pieces of gunk, it was unusable.

A home is definitely what we create, but most importantly is that wherever Mom is, this is where home is now you are on your own adventure of becoming home. I´m soooo exited about the garden progress, it is gonna be great! My dad was a big help to us when fixing on the house etc. He was old school, very handy and everything should be done in a proper way. He also could not sit down, either working...or resting = sleeping. Early in bed and up by sunrise, only watched the news and political debates on TV, no time for anything else. Family is good to have! I have sown my chili and peppers today, a little late, should have done it 1½ month earlier but...life. Tomorrow I will sow some physalis and all tomatoes, feels good! Have to buy some seeds but that have to wait until next salary, I will try tomatillos and a white bean called Greak Giant (have to order that from Irland, exiting).

Thank you, Becky. I just bought a home last Friday and every room, ceiling, and piece of woodwork needs to be wiped down and painted. The walls all need to be primed first. I’ve been considering buying an airless paint sprayer but then also respirator…etc. Watching you again today, I remembered that you talked about the extra wide roller that looks like the coverage is great. I’m also thinking that you have SO MUCH going on and yet you tackled this and it only took you about a week. I’ve decided that I will be looking for a wide roller tomorrow and the extender handle. I’m more comfortable working with the tools I already know. You inspire me to begin gardening at my new house, and now you have inspired me to paint the way I know best. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Hugs to you, Josh, Baby Acre, and your Moms and Dads.

I'm so excited to see how it turns out for y'all. My husband and I are expanding our garden. My goal is to have all my front yard garden by next year. And out back yard will be all the fruit trees I can get. I only have a half acre of land and we live out in the middle of nowhere so I don't have to worry about permits or anyting thankfully

Oh Karen I am so sorry. I lost my dad at 53. He was taken from us way too soon. But I know he is no longer suffering. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. Praying for you dear friend. I miss my daddy as well.

Keeping your doorbell the color it is currently would be very sentimental. However, if you really want it painted I would paint it the same color as your walls. The color of the wall plates would also be nice, but not black. Thank you and Josh for taking us on such wonderful journey’s .

Mine too. He used to travel 35 miles one way to take care of my dogs when I was out of town. They didn’t kennel well, my female always got sick. He had dogs so he would travel to take care of mine

I love seeing all the landscape projects. I love seeing and hearing your hens in the newly turned over soil too. Nothing more soothing than to hear a content hen clucking.

I agree… a perfect house is not required for good fellowship with friends and family. A real home should look lived in, a show home is for display ❤ as you like to say, give yourself some grace. I would paint the doorbell cover to match the wall or trim.

I would stain the doorbell to match the floor or match the walls. Black will stand out too much. Everything is looking so good. Good job!❤

Oh Becky, Baby A is going to have so much fun crawling up and ober those boulders when he gets bigger! It makes my heart happy knowing he will be able to be raised outdoors, where chickens and pups and birds and nature abound! Y'all are blessed indeed!!! Everything is coming together so nicely!!! You need screen doors my dear on all the doors you leave open. Consider ones with well reinforced bottom. Something that can take a small running into it at "full tilt boogie" to quote my Gran, or is easy to repair. I have personally "toddled" through my Gran back screened door to get the critter more time than I will admit. Between the bugs and the deer you want to keep outside, and you two footed and four footed small you want to keep inside, barriers are your friend. And to those who raise a hairy eyeball at deer, I have have doe wander in and eat a loaf of cooling bread before about 100 miles north of acre homestead. When startled, she took out my sliding doors screen like the Kool aid man.

@@kristenevans4557 there is a Polaroid somewhere of a Jean sized hole at age 2 when I went through it yet again. I was grandkids #4 and still kept my grans on their toes. They reconfigured that door with slats on the inside and the screening popped it's seal making for easy repair. Still took it out a few more times. Our dog was trained to grab me by my diapered butted to be hauled in or just squashed me until someone with thumbs could help. I was more problems than the other 5 combined.

I am NOTORIOUS for not putting lids on things tightly and experience the 'results' of that on the regular!! Why don't I LEARN? The yard/garden is looking SO different and cool and it's starting to be easier to imagine the final look. SO excited for you, Becky & Josh!! What a wonderful homestead for little Baby Acre (and future siblings!) to grow up on. 😊

I'd paint the doorbell cover the same color as the wall to make it visually disappear. just my two cents. if you want to draw the eye to it, black would be just fine.

You truly are blessed my "mam" is a narcissist!! I absolutely loved my dad but can't forgive him being her minion. My chosen family are my life with my husband of 30 years and two very independent adult children. I'm 49 yrs old and I completely closed the door on my bio ""family "" six months ago. I'm finally at peace and free thank God xx

Becky you made me cry talking about your parents, I just lost my mom in July and I’m the only one left. So,so sweet …I have so lucky to have my 2 grown sons. Because they were there for me when I need them. 🥰 awesome to have and help each other. Cherish them as I know you do. My memories keep me going.

Take it from me Becky, don’t talk yourself out of repainting your pantry. I did the same thing as you and paid to have the house panted, hated it and then repainted ourself. The pantry seemed too overwhelming so I told myself I’d do it “later” it’s been a couple years and the darn pantry is STILL the original color. Once little man is mobile, your painting time is over. Your home is beautiful!!! ❤
