@@AlmostRetiredinMexico I think you would want to make your approach in an organized way explaining the "key differences" HUGE about how Mexican culture respects the elderly but MOST importantly allows the elderly to die at home with DIGNITY and their money going to their children .... The perverse USA system involves mandatory hospitalization sticking needles in people when they should let to die peacefully at home... Also, the perverse USA system is a "cash-cow" for hospitals... Finally, the perverse USA system DEPLETES all remaining inheritance for surviving family members... The one thing I do NOT like is that the Mexican system is starting to mimic the USA system with assisted living .. OBVIOUSLY its still a bargain BUT a bad trend IMO... Good luck !

What a joy to see that children live with their parents, I have seen many American movies and in many the parents are in nursing homes (I understand that they cannot always take care of themselves or that they need their space) when in reality many do not want to be and die alone
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico 9 ай бұрын
I think most people prefer to not live in a nursing home. I also think people move more in the US. I live about 1000 miles from my mom. That’s rather common. And people are having fewer kids too.

My husband had an emergency TURP surgery with a urologist at the “Purple Hospital” about 10 years ago. They even let me sleep on the couch in his hospital room for the three days my husband was in the hospital.
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico 9 ай бұрын
That's great Lisa. Thanks for sharing! I'm assuming the purple hospital doesn't expect you to provide care for the hospitalized person, correct? In public hospitals, the family is expected to stay in the room to help with things like going to the bathroom. I'm guessing that's not the case in the private hospitals.

@lisadeharthansen7076 9 ай бұрын
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico I had no duties while my husband was hospitalized, like the government public hospitals require that you bring your own nurse or family member take care of you. This was many years ago, but if memory serves me, Dr. Beltran was the urologist. Everything was taken care of, but we did have to pay with our credit card upon Jon being moved from ER into surgery. I think the operation (surgeon, anesthesiologist, biopsies, etc.) was slightly under US $5,000 … I think this was in 2011.

Wow, Linda and June are both wonderful women! Willing to move to a foreign country at their age (or any age) can't be easy but you would never know it listening to both of them. The friend of Linda, who moved back to Chicago, didn't really stand a chance in MX because she didn't have the right mindset. She may have wanted Mexico to be the same as Chicago and it just isn't. An unwillingness to change with your surroundings, learn a new language (which isn't easy), and adjust to the differences of a new country is a recipe for disaster. Great interviews!

Hi, an informative video but you really use the wrong lens. Example : the opening shot where you first show the three people… the way the lens is it makes it look like a little miniature person because you have the larger people up in the foreground. There is a reason why professional journalism uses a Director of photography and they carefully adjust to different lenses and filters depending on how they were shooting. Nice video but it could be so much more aesthetically
@AlmostRetiredinMexico

Thanks. I was definitely frustrated with the three shot when editing. This was shot on an iPhone 13 Pro. And I’m a one man show. If I had a crew and more time, things could be different.
