To Improve drawing skills or painting skills faster needs a lot of focus and nailing down what you want to create with your drawings. Don't you just hate it when someone tells you just draw and practice you'll get better, allowing you to go and figure it out for yourself drawing for years and barely learning anything. in this video i'll show you what to focus on as a new artist or beginner to improve drawing skills fast, this is basically how i learned how to draw and improved drawing skills. Hope this helps you and gives you an idea of what you should be focusing on. Good luck guys!

finally a godamn video that actually tells you, "hey, these are the main topics of art in a general way. Learn all of them" instead of going to an abstract, ethereal, lovely nonsense of feelings and point of views that make them an artist, but you can't learn that, you earn that in the process. you need tangible things served bit by bit for easy assimilation. See you in a year to see how I improved following these steps. EDIT: TO THE NEW ONES LOOKING FOR AN UPDATE LOOK FOR THE COMMENTS, having to explain this to each person every week is getting annoying...

I was so confused when I saw other youtbers and they were like "so close your eyes and picture it in your mind and get the general feeling then you start working on it with the paper" like, bruh, even Bob Ross told me to use criss cross on oil painting to get a gradient. I think those artists don't do it on purpose, though. Some are probably just bad at teaching and doing their honest best. Others yeah, they just don't wanna share but they have to pretend like they do.

Let me list everything in this video that I love: - Defining fundamentals concisely and clearly - A chart. Just a basic, clear, linear lesson plan - No wait, TWO charts depending on your focus - Immediately useful resources (Quickposes is already my favorite thing) - Other artists to study - Calm and relaxed presentation - Heck, you even worked the sponsorship in so casually that it didn't bother me Also, I gotta say that seeing your face was really helpful. Didn't realize this until the video was over, but when I'm watching a video where the person is talking about one thing and drawing another, I usually tune one or the other out, or I'm frustrated that their doing art things that they're not explaining. Just watching and listening to someone talk to me made more of a difference than I realized. I'm sure the fact that you're gorgeous didn't hurt but I think it'd be true regardless. Thank you so much; instant sub from me.

For poses, I don't recommend looking up poses in sports matches, because some reference photos have the subject's gravity/centre point floating in the air, there's not much gesture to refer to when someone's gravity point is quite awkward due to momentum/inertia. Instead search for poses that is interesting, like gesture, or shape design like that, instead of something very mundane that doesn't really show obvious interesting characteristics.

I'm getting back into it now because it's something that I'm so passionate about, but I felt overwhelmed knowing where to even start. Wow, I wish I had seen this video when I started drawing (roughly two years ago). The ONLY advice anyone would give me was "Just draw" or "Practice the fundamentals" without even elaborating on what that meant. I didn't even know what the fundamentals *were* at the time lol I feel like if I had someone break down what the fundamentals were and how to practice them when I started out, I would have made much, much more progress over the past couple years (instead of fumbling around for months figuring bits and pieces out on my own). It was really disheartening at times, but luckily, I stuck with it. This is a great video, especially for beginners like me. I appreciate you breaking down the fundamentals, subcategories within the fundamentals, and how to actually practice them.

Well... actually no. If you don't like doing it, don't do it, find the trick. Tsutomo Takahashi is a mangaka who doesn't like to draw backgrounds, what does he do? Found a trick that allows him to have complex funds effortlessly. As a fact, he can draw an entire manga chapter in semi-realistic style in one day. There is a documentary of him here on KZfaq, you should see it. It changed my way of thinking, as there is not only effort and study, also finding your own tricks and shortcuts, your way. Sorry for the bible and bad English, it is not my native language. Bye ^-^

Martin Peña this is actually very true. OP check out any of the mangaka documentaries posted by YUNYUN. There are many mangaka who actually just take pictures and use some editing tricks and extra lines to make their backgrounds look nice with a hand drawn feel, but with less effort than doing it from scratch. They show off a lot of tricks actually that I find useful for trying to incorporate into my own workflow :D

The third vanishing point would be at the zenith or nadir (depending on whether you're looking up or down). It's worth noting that 1,2,3-point perspective applies to a cube. You can have infinitely many vanishing points in an image because every set of parallel lines has its own vanishing point. I like the advice, but I would put perspective as the first thing to learn and practice - it helps you think 3-dimensionally and you'll do a much better job at foreshortening and breaking things down into shapes when you've practiced drawing cubes etc. in perspective.

Sometimes when you want to get better at something but don't have interest or motivation, I find someone who is passionate about that thing and hear what they like about it. Reading vangogh's letters might make you look at landscapes differently for example. I've also been learning about the group of seven and the stories of their travels across Canada. I hope that helps you :)

So studying anatomy based on my art idols is actually a good idea? I was always told never to do that and stick to real life only?
@kylo2605
@kylo2605 3 жыл бұрын
When it comes to drawing anime and shit, that is if you plan on drawing anime, I was told you must start with realism. By starting with realism you will already have a good understanding of the fundamentals which will make drawing anime easier i guess. Personally, I never started with realism and I never will. We're all different in many ways so just because one person got to where they are from doing realism doesn't you have to do that too. I guess as long as you can grasp a basic understanding of the fundamentals and apply them to your drawings, realism isn't important unless you're trying to achieve a realistic style.

I studied real world shapes and form but draw them in the style I want to use in the long run. the simplest analogy I can give is that, art is like writing. you follow certain rules like grammar and stuff, but you write them through your own penmanship. you can follow art theories while using your own "penmanship"

@@kylo2605 that advice follows with the explanation that 'you can't bend rules if you don't know the rules' so if you have a good grasp of the basics, it's easier to branch away from that and do less realistic styles with a strong understanding of how objects interact

I feel like I'm the only person who loves drawing backgrounds based on the comments here 😅 Probably because I was never good at characters, but flowers and backgrounds I am. I find perspective and foreshortening way easier to do when making backgrounds than when I'm using characters since they have limbs and things that must stay the same length no matter the angles.

Found this video in my recommended feed, loved it and learned a bit more that I didn't hear in art school. Though I've been practicing the two topics mentioned before, I think I'll still practice the skills I need for them because it feels like a big hurdle for me. Practicing them now just kind of feels like testing the waters. Good video! Subbed and will probably watch your older videos for more stuff like this.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the great video. I wanted to answer the question of the horizon line, and 3 point perspective. In three point, there's only one horizon line, on which 2 of 3 vanishing points will rest. When it comes to the 3rd point, it can be placed anywhere above or below that horizon line. It does not have it's own horizon.
