I have students who love to flip their paddle on their backhand volley - so more knuckles up vs knuckles facing net - I think these drills will help so much. Such a stubborn mistake and they sometimes hit a good shot even with the flip. Any insight well appreciated. thank you.

That can be good for certain shots, but is not great to hit all backhands that way, as it will make adjusting for other shots very difficult.

Te only problem with these drills is you MUST have a partner who can FEED you the balls for you to reset.. It can be tricky...

True, but all you need to get started is someone with a little bit of control. You have to work with what you can!

Great video! For the 2H BH reset, are you using more of your left (non-dominant) hand? Like I’ve heard to do for 2H BH dinks? Or are you using more right hand, with the left just for backup stability? My tendency is to use 1 hand, and so when I put my 2nd hand on, it’s like the hands are fighting each other! I’m not sure which hand to focus on. Thanks!
@BrionesPickleball

Definitely more left hand. I would practice two handed dinks first so that you can get a good feel first.

Love your videos. Thank you! Here is my question. I'm hitting a perfect reset from further back , my opponent just takes my ball and just taps it to the side that is almost impossible to get to. Should I be running up immediately after a good reset? I don't want to get caught running forward. Thanks again
@BrionesPickleball
@BrionesPickleball Ай бұрын
That wouldn’t be a perfect reset. If they just “tap” it over, then they are most likely volleying the ball. Good resets bounce, and give you time to come in

When practicing a reset here, how do you replicate a downward shot? In most of the drills the opponent was attacking a reset ball from below the net. Often if that's the case, you should probably be countering, and not resetting, right? I don't want to reset their sketchy speed-up, I want to reset when they are in the dominant position and I'm forced to hit up on the ball, to neutralize the aggression. Seems like you need to reset one, and then almost lob em a meat ball or have em self toss a higher one.
@BrionesPickleball
@BrionesPickleball 9 күн бұрын
Yes you can do that, but it really has to do with your positioning and where you are hitting the ball. Even if they are attacking from below the net, and you are 10 feet away from the NVZ, you may want to reset that ball.

If you're going to introduce the premise during the instruction, you reaaaally don't need an extra introduction before that. Like...we get it, you're going to show us how to reset the ball - got it - we clicked on the video because the title told us that. Sorry if this comes off as snide but you're instruction is super good and I feel like you might be losing eyes because you nearly lose mine every time.

Thanks. Remember that some players are playing and learning for the first time as well.

@@BrionesPickleball Fair enough, but still there doesn't need to be a hard break between two different segments, where you have to "reset" the introduction, so to speak. You can just say hi, define the skillset, and get into the instruction - in the same shot. It just feels like 1st grade otherwise.
