yeah don't tell him about the crazies that come out at 5pm in the valley, or that people want to stab you just because you glance past them in broad daylight outside a police station. Don't tell him about the dodgy public transport that is always late and loaded with crack addicts. No mention of the homeless on the way to Queen St Its fine if you're there at 9am when all the junkies are sleeping or off their head in some den somewhere lmao

I live in Brisbane, Australia and I personally feel that it is one of the most liveable cities and very peaceful with a low population but still has all the big city amenities. Probably what Sydney/Melbourne used to be 20 years or so ago. Its all about the branding on a global scale - that Sydney and Melbourne are the best cities in Australia so they're growing rapidly at 100k+ people added per year and that is contributing to rising house prices. Brisbane is relatively more affordable on that front and does have exciting places such as the Goldcoast and the Sunshine Coast on its doorstep. Not to mention the fantastic all-year round sunny weather. It is only lacking in public transport and infrastructure and a bit of entertainment/culture but that is soon to change in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics with Queens Wharf, Brisbane Metro, Waterfront Brisbane and Cross River Rail.

Lived in Brisbane from 2007 to 2015, was fantastic and I enjoyed it, but the sad reality is it's become too expensive and real estate unaffordable for too many people, makes me sad as I planned to move back in 2025 after 10 years in a rural setting, but now that dream is gone

Yeah, I hear you. Its a lot like that for me back home as well, unaffordable housing where you need it most. I looked at home values around Brissy, just out of curiosity, and was surprised it was almost on the same level of cost as back in the states..

When I was in Australia in June & July of 2017, one of my weekly stops was Brisbane. I really really loved the city and the vibe I got off the place. It's not as hustle & bustle as Melbourne or Sydney, but I think that's what I really liked about it. Just feels different but has all the amenities of a large city without the uppity-ness. Add to it amazing weather and beautiful beaches nearby (Moreton Island, Stradbroke "Straddie" Island, Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast) plus tons of outdoors options and you've got a winning combination. I hope to return to Brisbane again!

I’m a person that currently lives in Brisbane here to give you some fair warning about 2 things if you’re planning to move here: 1. Cost of living is nothing to sneeze at (pretty pricey at times especially if you’re near and in the city). And 2. During the day it’s usually pretty chill but at night around 10 people that are moody and can’t handle their liquor (in the worst way possible) come out and I suggest you don’t stick around or keep the interacts with any of those people to the bare minimum if at all possible. Apart from that the city pretty peaceful for the majority of the time.

Melbourne and Sydney people always bring up their “culture”, dining or beaches, but 90% of people never appreciate any of it because they have to live too far away from anything because only the wealthiest can actually afford to live close to the culture/restaurants/beaches 😂

that's not true. I lived 15 years in Melbourne within a 5 km radius from the city on a pension. I had easy access to everything, food, culture, entertainment, and all affordable. Unlike Brisbane where you are lucky if you can get a coffee or a feed after 2pm. Easy public transport from almost anywhere to anywhere. Unfortunately the climate is not so good.

interestingly by 2050 Melbourne is tipped to top Sydney population wise and Brisbane to catch Sydney. All this is well and good and given the interstate migration from the southern states to "Greater" Brisbane the biggest issue for those living there is whether the infrastructure will keep up with the population growth. There is more than enough fun and sun to compete with the southern cities hence the migration north just that infrastructure issue...

Brisbane has gone from a nice friendly city to a traffic nightmare. Takes hours to get anywhere. Public transport is poor at best. Peak hours are the worst by far. The City Cat is the best way to get around if you live near the river. The"Valley" is the worst place to be after dark... a shithole.

The Federal government dont want to see Brisbane become like Sydney or Melbourne. A few years ago , I was driving from Sydney to Brisbane, I was shock the Pacific Highway only 1 lane on each side unlike Melbourne-Sydney 2 lanes on each side. The 21 century , people catch plane to travel not driving car like in the old days and government refuse to invest on the Pacific Highway. Can you imagine how many Australian die on Pacific highway with their Holden Commondore? If you think Brisabne going to be Top city , you have rock in your head. All the big boys from the big end of town will not allow the Queenslanders growing up. keep oi oi oi and it hurt so much.

Thank you for asking. I didn't mention in the video when I went to the Queensland Cultural center where the art center and performing arts center both are (didn't film inside). There is so much to discover on Australia's past, present, and future among this whole complex. I know Australia is rich in its multi-divercity and the vibe all around from a cultural perspective is the open-mindedness and open-hearted approach to life that Aussies have. It's subtle but it's there and it's one of the biggest takeaways for me when visiting a certain country/continent. The authentic food scene in Sunshine Coast was also notable, I wish I could have dived in it more during my last video. Hopefully I explained it a bit. I'm obviously still learning but that has been part of my takeaway from my visit

I moved out to the country 10 years ago and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
