@@plodincurrumbin4848 it doesn't sound sexist to me. There's just the reality of being a young woman out there alone... it's different than if I were a man. It has given me so much in all the other areas of my life - so valuable. MTB @ night?!! That's gnarly!

Reading the title I thought it might have been 17.5hrs spread over two days.. was blown away to see you do it in the one day!!! Goes to show what you can do when you put your mind to it. Epic stuff! You’ve inspired me to do it.. over 2days, lol.
@midnight___lightning

Thanks a heap. 2 days is the way to go, I reckon. Major effort to do 160km a day AND you get to take in your surroundings way more and rush less. That's how I'll do it when I head back out there. Thanks for the kind words :))

Awesome ride. So glad I found your video. I've just signed up for the BVRT event next week. Only one way and 10 hours to do it but I'm shiting myself over it. I'm much older than you but this will be the longest ride for me. Well done
@midnight___lightning
@midnight___lightning 3 жыл бұрын
You're going to nail it, Robert. The biggest thing for me was just pacing it. I wanted to go faster @ the beginning but tried to keep it steady the whole way and reckon that made the ride feel so successful. And food / water. Consistently eat and hydrate in little mouthfuls and sips. Does your ride start in Ipswich or Yarraman?
@MrRobertjusher
@MrRobertjusher 3 жыл бұрын
@@midnight___lightning Hi It's starting in Ipswich so we get to go up the range😬. I've ridden the whole trail several times, just not all in one go. I think I have the nutrition sorted plus the event is fully supported with everything I'll need including food etc

Awesome job! How much training did you do before this?
@midnight___lightning
@midnight___lightning 2 жыл бұрын
Hey.... sorry about the late reply. Just saw this. I didn't train for this. It was a spontaneous decision made a few days before. In saying that, I was regularly riding my bike to work (about 15km there) and active on a daily basis with hiking and riding. So that fun stuff must add up over time :)

@@midnight___lightning oh true! I’m a bit the same, hiking/riding bits and pieces on the reg. Hoping to do what you did very soon!
@midnight___lightning
@midnight___lightning 2 жыл бұрын
@@Spotto26 then I think you'll be great!! It's flat so that works in our favour. Plus, I think the biggest thing I kept in mind was pacing. I kept it consistent, but never pushed it (until the last 3-5hrs because my light was malfunctioning ha and I was trying to stay awake). But I reckon that's what made it a success. I never felt physically smashed.... oh and I made a very conscious effort to sip water ever 15mins (that'll be much easier and natural to do in warmer November) and to eat. I often forget to eat on the bike. Let me know how you go!!!!
@Spotto26
@Spotto26 2 жыл бұрын
@@midnight___lightning thanks for the tips! Yep November was my plan! I actually did Yarraman to Wulkuraka in one day last year, which I found incredibly difficult. Hoping with a bit more training I can double it this time!
@midnight___lightning
@midnight___lightning 2 жыл бұрын
@@Spotto26 already a crazy effort, so you defs have it in you to double it! I found that once I hit the halfway mark and turned round, that it held quite a bit of mental relief.... knowing that I was on the way "home". So I wouldn't think about the whole 320km - because especially when you're deep it in, that can be a bit overwhelming. I'd just work it in 20km lots or something. Whatever mileage number appeals to you. Or towns. I would only think about the next town etc. Plus, I'd also recommend going from Wulkuraka to Yarraman and return because you get the "downhill" or your way back which is pretty nice :)
