What a magnificent achievement, and a unique spectacle. I’d like to think that if Frank Barnwell were alive, he’d declare it a late production original rather than a replica. It’s exquisite.

@@edstoro3883 You're welcome. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, and the work you must have done on this is staggering. I don't know where to begin on all the little details right down to the navigation lights. I'm delighted that there's a flying example once again, and if ever you write about your journey to create this beautiful aircraft, it will be a fascinating read.

It looks absolutely beautiful. I am an American who actually lives in Bristol. It would be great to see it fly here over the Filton factory.

Roger, I would love to fly one sortie from/over Filton, what an honor that would be!

The last flying bulldog in the UK was K2227. Which crashed on 13th September 1964 at Farnborough. There is an intact bulldog in a museum in Finland (I've sat in it's cockpit!). Quite incredible to see a bulldog in the air again in 2022….

Lovely job, I hope it has its correct Jupiter engine and if so I sincerely congratulate those who have lavished all the care and time on it.

I, also, would have loved to have used a Jupiter. Unfortunately there none to be found. There are very few remaining bit and piece, mostly in museums. If I did have a Jupiter there would be no spare parts to be found. The P&W Wasp engine is the best alternative. The Wasp is (very loosely ) the American answer to the Bristol Jupiter. Weight and size relatively close.

@@edstoro3883 Thanks ED, understood. Roy Fedden had a strong relationship with P&W and Wright when trying to sell the Jupiter around the world.Both firms had a close interest in this engine not just as competition either.

A magnificent sight. Was that T/O at full power?
@edstoro3883
@edstoro3883 2 жыл бұрын
That was not a full power takeoff! I was not sure how quickly the torque or precession would affect the machine, so I was gentle with the power.

@@edstoro3883 Power seemed "sufficient". I suspect you'll be able to use more when you get a feel for it and conditions are right.

What sort of engine does it have?
@edstoro3883
@edstoro3883 Жыл бұрын
The engine is a Pratt & Whitney Wasp. (R1340). It is an early version, about 450-500hp. There are NO original Bristol Jupiter engines to be found. Alas.
