Here is a short video of a taxi test that Ed Storo took of his Bristol Bulldog this week. The Bulldog was a British Royal Air Force single-seat biplane fighter designed during the 1920s by the Bristol Aeroplane Company

Oxcart, you asked about the engine. there are NO Bristol Jupiters to be found. The Wasp is a close second. It is within 100 lbs and 2" on the diameter. The biggest glaring objection being the exhaust ring being on the backside of the Wasp.

@@edstoro3883 Yeah, for some reason I confused the Jupiter with the 2 row Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar! Which is why I deleted that comment after I'd got my facts straight (obviously the wrong way round!!) There used to be a replica Fairey Flycatcher that flew in Britain for several years (until it almost shook itself to bits and was put on static display!) That had a 1340 instead of a jaguar and they had to lengthen the fuselage! I remember your posts on the Flypast Forum a few years ago and it just popped into my head to see if I could find your project a couple of days ago. I'm way beyond impressed! She's breathtaking and I just hope u can get her to Old Warden one day! It's the perfect setting for such a beauty! All the best to u and yours!

Thank you for the compliment. This Bulldog is using an early version of the Pratt & Whitney Wasp engine (military designation being R-1340). 450+ HP. There are unfortunately no Bristol Jupiter VII engines left in the world, so thus the P&W.

@@edstoro3883 It really sounds right, a very good choice of engine for this aeroplane, it will be good to see it in the air. Good luck ! Chris B.

Paul, you are 'too' observant. Good on ya!. So the explanation: My grand children's birthdays, and their mothers initial. I knew that I needed a "J" or "K" and numbers came in reasonable. Please stop by one day and we can take a picture with you in the cockpit!!! Cheers!

'Tis a replica. There are two Bulldogs in the world. A Mk II at Hendon (rebuilt to static display by Tim Moore of Skysport fame) and a Mk IV in Finland. Neither will ever fly. Alas! I am still working on some small problems, like the propeller hub, but hopefully will be flying soon. Cheers.

@@tgray119 I was thinking after your other reply and was wondering where you were getting the spar material. The Sitka Spruce out here (NW coast)unfortunately is being bought up for piano sounding boards. Also was wondering about slats but see that the DH51 did not have slats. I am honored that I am conversing with someone who actually met D. Bader. The original did use the Jupiter of which there are none to be had. Maybe the blokes in OZ who make the rotaries will decide to make one.
