This is in the southwest where one county can be 100 or more miles across and he was two counties away. He actually got there fairly quickly.

Kabir, they're in rural New Mexico, not downtown London. 2 counties over can be an hour or more away, forget about the wrong location. She handled herself perfectly, and by the way, if your life depends on you lying you're going to lie like a Persian rug! The Sargeant is from the state police he could've been coming from anywhere but it didn't matter, Hernandez had it under control with a little help.

Perfectly stated. I used to work in Ft. Stockton, Pecos County, TX. It was over a hundred miles 161 km across. On I10 with a speed limit of 75 it was over an hour across Pecos County.

@PlasticMacele I live just off I10 in Florida, been here since 2018 and still haven't seen the county corner to corner and its much smaller than Pecos County, but we have Eglin Air Force Base & Hunter Air Field, so we're spread out

Torrance County is seriously remote, with just 15,000 people in 3,300 square miles. There is no community in the county with more than 2000 people, and just three with more than 1000. There is a stretch of I-40 that crosses the north edge of the county. If the woman started in New York City, she made it nearly 2000 miles.

I believe the other officer said he was two counties away... That could mean he had to go through two counties before he got to her county. New Mexico is a big state and the counties are quite large. Regardless I'm sure he was doing the best he could.

Campos was 2 counties away. That can be a heck of a long way off. At least he tried to get someone closer to her. Plus he was keeping in touch with her. The deputy did a great job with a little from a kind man.

New Mexico is larger than the entire U.K with a lot of open land to navigate from county to county and especially so in rural areas...I'm certain the State Police were moving as fast as humanly possible.

I understand your concern about the time to get back up on scene, but Trooper Hernandez is a member of the New Mexico State Police, and they said earlier that Trooper Campos is on his way, but he was 2 counties away, now New Mexico is NOT a small state, and across I-40, where this is happening it is 350 miles wide, (550 Kilometers) Torrence County is the 3rd of 5 counties that make up the width of the state in this section of I-40, so the counties as you can tell are also very big, there are COUNTRIES in Europe that are not as big as the COUNTIES in New Mexico, so quick arrival of back up in such desolation, is NOT something that can always happen. 2 counties away could be as much as 150 miles or (240 Kilometers) keep in mind, the way that Law Enforcement is done here in the United States, typically goes like this, first here is LOCAL, which would be villiage, town or city police, which are very localized and cover smaller areas, and their jurisdiction ends at the limits of the village, town or city, then you have County Sherriff's and deputies, they can go anywhere in their county, and assist the local police if needed or do what the local police do, but on a county wide basis, and again, their jurisdiction ends at the county line, and then you have State Police, they can go ANYWHERE in the state to assist county sherriff's or any local police, as weel as doing what the others do on a statewide basis, and once again, their jurisdiction ends at the state line, and then you have U.S. Marshalls, they can go ANYWHERE in the country to assist and enforce laws and once again, their jurisdiction ends at the national borders, beyond that you have to get the FBI involved for any law enforcement that crosses U.S. Borders with another country.

Counties in the US Southwest are HUGE. There is no "THERE" there. This incident happened in Torrence County, New Mexico which is 3,346 square miles [That's larger than North Yorkshire] with a population of only 15,307. A State police Officer in Arizona or New Mexico might be expected to patrol a thousand or more square miles while working ALONE. The Sergeant was two counties away. That could easily have been more than a hundred miles away. I'll bet that woman was running a "Honey Trap". The story didn't specify what kind of "bar" she worked at, but my guess would be a strip club. There have been numerous cases of robbery and murder associated with strip clubs.

Thank God for this man stopping to help her . They suspected her of killing why would they put the other officers in danger that long waiting with her . Just go back before her and warn other cars not to stop and help . I would hate to see what would have happened if that woman was larger or a man .🤕

I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY living in New Mexico now, the five counties of the City of New York, Kings, Queens, Manhattan, Bronx and Richmond counties all fit inside the county I live in in New Mexico. Just to give you a gauge.

Some counties in the western states can be huge... i.e. big as Wales or even larger. The sun was setting at the first interaction and it gets dark quickly especially during the winter.

The cops were two counties away from the traffic stop. Two counties could be hours away from each other. One county could be larger than England in the US West. The US is not like the UK. Nothing is just a few minutes away in America.

It is the fifth largest State so there's a lot of area to cover, I looked it up and the smallest county is like 109 sq miles, the next smallest is 1000 sq miles and it goes up from there with the largest being 6900 sq miles.

When Officer Hernandez, called for help they said that the closest officers were 2 counties away; Sheriff's departments are often understaffed and have lots of territory to cover.

There IS a video I watched where a cop stopped to help a motorist and DID discover a dead body in the trunk of the car. I felt so bad for that cop.

You have no idea how big New Mexico is. Cops patrol hundreds of miles. At the start they said help was coming from 2 counties away. Torrance County is 3346 square miles so it will take a while for assistance to come.

This is good advice, I had a neighbor in the past, short frail looking 93 year old woman, went with her and her grandsons to a shooting range once, and she could repeatedly hit the center of a 5 inch wide target with her little .38 revolver from 100ft away, damn impressive marksmanship from grandma 😂

Times are changing. I go to community college. I seen a lot of Asian students are not worrying much about grades than many of us. It’s a culture of being perfect, it’s slowly going away from Asian American minds.

New Mexico is about the same size as the UK … and a county is about 50 sq.mi. Or larger ! Either way they run 1 state trooper every 3 counties , each county has their own police and cities have their own too

Idk me personally if i drove past n said meh, to later find out that officer ended up getting murdered. I wouldnt be able to live with that very good, so i would have to stop. 2v1 is pretty good odds even if she has a gun in the car, because guess what. the officer has one on her, she aint gonna be able to get in the car with both us taking her down.

You have no idea how big western states are. New Mexico is wider along Interstate 40 than the distance from Dover to Penzance in England. How long is that drive for you skippy? The state is roughly 5 counties wide by 6 counties tall and Campos was two counties away at the start.
