Yes, Mel Gibson is Australian, but he was born in the state of New York and moved to Australia when he was 12 years old.

Yep, in Mad Max you can see his Aussie accent. I would think it’s easiest for Australians to change their accent to American.

Hugh Laurie!!! His American accent is right (spot) on! Oh, and Andrew Garfield. I was also impressed with James McAvoy who I think is the best actor of his generation.

I think each of these people would fool you if you didn't know in advance that they weren't from the UK. I remember when The Nanny was on TV a lot of British people thought the guy who played the father was doing a fake accent although he was actually from England while the guy who played the butler was from a Southern US state and was doing a fake accent, but he fooled everyone.

It actually took me a few episodes of House to realize it was Hugh Laurie....and I'd known of him for YEARS from Fry & Laurie!! I saw his name in the credits at one point and was like, "Wait, who does Hugh Laurie play in this??" lol

I'll never forget Ewan McGregor pronouncing "book" with an obvious Scottish brogue in "Nightwatch." Jordy's sound like they're from Boston😅.

Richard Dawson was on Hogan's Heroes and he played Peter Newkirk who had a cockney accent,but when he was a panelist on Match Game from 1973-1978 where he was American as can be.Also the first Family Feud host from 1976-1985 and 1994-95.

I just realized within the last year that one of my favorite characters from a show called 911 is British. Also a good amount of greys anatomy actors one is Scottish and I wouldn’t have known but I was looking up the actor it’s crazy how good they can do American accents

It isn't fair to ask Americans which British actor does the best American accent, since Americans always, ALWAYS claim that virtually any Brit does a good accent. We're just remarkably forgiving when it comes to accent work, probably because this country is so big we just assume that anything sounding vaguely American must be some kind of regional dialect.

Hi Kabir! Great video, it kind of reminds me of my talking with an old housemate, Ray, who was from Manchester. He was trying to learn a Texas accent, and he tried to teach me an English accent. We had a lot of laugh's. One time at a party, Becky, who was from Bristol, and Ray got to talking after a few beer's and they were having a hard time understanding each other! I had a hard time understanding either of them once they got going, though both could talk kinda an RP version of English when they wanted to. And don't even bother to try and make sense of their slang, especially when they were drunk!

The Liverpool accent is very difficult for me I never got it down I used to have a boss from Liverpool and I could never get his right, though I did get really good at Irish at the time I was dating a girl from Ireland and I got so good at the Irish accent I would call her up on the work phone and pretend to be one of her friends. Mel is actually American but he was raised mostly in Australia so he does have a bit of both American and Australian accent

most british actors can mimic an american accent with unsettling ease such as tim roth in the resorvoir dogs film it was only when I saw him in pulp fiction that I found out he's a brit on the other hand some americans have made fools of themselves attempting to sound british the most comical example being marlon brando in mutiny on the bounty⚛😀

Mel Gibson is American but he grew up in Australia. His family moved there when he was 12. Kate Winslet, Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and Henry Cavill also do great American accents. There's so many others but just like with Idris, for the longest time I thought Christian Bale was American. When he starred in Little Women back in the day, I thought he was doing the accent and it turned out it was always his, LOL. There's a saying that used to be going around where if you heard someone finally in their native accent and you were shocked by it thinking it wasn't, you'd say that person Christian Bale'd me :). Lucy Lawless is another. For all those seasons of Xena: Warrior Princess, I thought she was American. Didn't know that until after the show wrapped and saw her in an interview about an upcoming project and was like WHAT????!!!! She's from NEW ZEALAND???? WHATTTTT??? lol.

Everyone has an accent. “Accent” literally means “the way you pronounce words” so unless you’re mute, you do have an accent.

Can we please have a draft and maybe pick up Danny Dyer and Mr Norton or Carr and you guys can take all the Hollywood scum, I mean talent still residing in LA but with the agreement you have to take James Corden back. We will even include shipping cost on his tubby a$$ along with the ladies from the view for use in horror films or to scare off crows.

Hate to be that person but Bieber is Canadian. Americans, at least for those in North America, are those from the United States. Not the whole continent. Canadians dont always take kindly to being lumped in with their southern neighbors.
