Dwanyne's pronounciation of Swedish words and sentances are so much better than most people, in my opinion. Also, we have a joke in Swedish about the whole "Fart" and "Speed" thing. Urin is the more medical or bureaucratic word. In the common all day talk it's kiss and the most common slang word is piss. Puss is with the lips, but if you also use your tongue it's kyss in Swedish, where the K is pronunced as CH in Charlie. The word "Olla" could be used as some sort of threat towards your friends in a "joke" kind of way. You could say for example "If you do that one more time, I'm gonna Olla your phone" or something like that. I know that the Swedish KZfaqr Anomaly described it very good in his video about Swedish Cursewords. There are no translation for the word Olla, but the word "Ollon" is often reffered to the tip of your penis. As described, it means rubbing the tip of your penis on some sort of object/item

In Swedish KISSA = to urinate, to pee. In Finnish kissa = a cat. I remember when a Finnish interviewer was talking to Pandora, a Swedish singer, the interviewer talked in Finnish for a while using the word kissa, which also in slang means a beautiful woman. You could see Pandora's reaction when she recogniced the word kissa. "Why is he talking about peeing?" Olla is the Finnish for "to be". I've seen a tourist bus in Helsinki Finland with the words "Turist Fart" on the side of the bus, might have been a Danish bus. "Fart kontrol" in Danish means speed check, speed monitoring. Fart in Danish also means "motion". A sign "I FART" = "In motion", lights up when an elevator is moving. Cruise control = Fart pilot. Finland, for historical reasons, has two official languages, Finnish and Swedish. About 5% of Finns are Swedish speaking. All official signs are in both languages. Way back in time when we were on our way to the Helsinki-Vantaa airport, there was a sign Lentoasema/Flygstation on the side of the road. Some Americans were having fun talking about flystation.

"A" as in "after" "I" as in "info, inside, indistinguishable" "E" as in "empty, enemy, exit" "O" as in "oops" A chair / one chair = En stol A table / one table = Ett bord Two chairs = Två stolar Two tables = Två bord The chair = stolEN (like postfix from "A chair") (whatever it's called) The table = bordET (like postfix from "A table") English speakers tend to add "apostrophes" and extra syllables to Swedish words and tripp themselves up. Example: Kvast (meaning "broom") tend to be pronounced "Kuh'vaist". It's "kv-ast" but harder, faster and one syllable. Example: Stridsvagn (meaning tank/battlewagon) tends to be pronounced "straids va-g'n". Think "vangn" like "ring-n". I don't know. I have forgotten the how and why of Swedish. It just is. Heck, it's Swenglish half of the time anyway.

I think they do that because of how they pronounce K more as a diphthong, so when they hear the K sound, it comes out like that. We can compare quite easily to Danish which also relies more heavily on diphthongs and we can hear a lot of similarities. Also, English does not have any letter combinations of K and V, especially not written. Closest would be something like the K-E combination like in "queer". Similarly, there's no I-D sound in English quite; close would be something like "stream", but even that has a slight diphthong to it. In general, the biggest problem English-speaking people have learning Swedish is that they speak a lot further back in their mouth.

I think he laughed about that for years, he still chuckles. "Slutstation" was also something he still finds hilarious, it's when you are going by public transport and you get to the end station. :D "Olla" was something that was a idiotic trend many years ago where guys did that to "bully" och "troll" people. Native Swedish speaker, and linguistics enthusiat here! Let's get a hold on the word "olla". The tip of one's penis is called "ollon", which is taken from "ekollon" which means acorn. The word "ek" means oak, and since it's not part of an oak, the "ek" is removed. Now, Swedish uses Germanic grammatical structure just like German, Dutch, and other Scandianvian languages where you can compound words and you can literally put a suffix (ending to a word) in order to alternate its function. If I add +a to a word, I make it into a verb (some exceptions requires little modifications, which is a whole other story). So, if you take the noun FISK (fish), and you add +a to it, turning it to FISKA, it literally means "to fish". English adds "to" in order to make it a verb, Swedish adds suffixes. So the world "ollon" would be "ollona", but it's getting a modification due to rules nobody knows but everyone agrees with for some reason, turning it into "olla". The word is not made up because we had a use for it, it was to be silly and it's fully and grammatically correct. It's also something that's considered a valid punishment for someone who's rude. Olla someone's glasses or something. HAHAHA.

In some cases, like some online games and live videos, they sometimes bans the word slut, and when we swedes want to, for example, want to know when it is ending, we can't 😂 (the comment will not be sent) in some cases it's hard to use another phrase.

When traveling with a bus or train, you’ll reach the (final destination) the end station. The word we (in Sweden) have for that is “slutstation” or ”ändhållplats” änd = end/final. hållplats = station (bus/train station).

In Swedish we do actually say piss too, most people at least in the countryside would say "Jag måsta pissa", "I have to piss". You could also say "Det luktar piss", "It smells like piss"

The last word "olla" is a word nobody uses. Maybe drunk teenagers that wants to be funny. I remember I was in Rome with a bunch of guys and one person decided to "olla" the Coliseum. It is basically like when animals marks their territory kind of. Men take out their penis and rub their tip of the penis on objects (ollon in Swedish). Not very common as Oskar said. I didn't even know it was a word I thought it was slang. If I'd tell my teacher I am finished I'd say in Swedish "Jag är färdig" aswell.

Yeah in Sweden it's shake hands with acquaintances, hug friends and family, and either say puss puss (over the phone or in person) or giving them a kiss (partner) and sometimes a kiss on the cheek if you're very close to your parent or a parent to their child.

I think most people in General say "kissa" nowadays. It used to be women say kiss and men say piss but in time since women did most of the childrearing they used the word kiss for their kids, and when the kids grew up they were used to still say the word kiss, piss remains as the word used by adult men especially when with other males. If my son said im gonna go piss i wouldnt say anything but I would in my head think excuse you like he just swore or said something slightly inappropriate or crude.

We actually use both kiss (pee) and piss (piss). I believe piss is a borrowed word from you fellow brits. And yes, you are correct. Hindra is "to hinder". He did explain "Olla". It really means to touch something with the tip of your penis. On that note, I think he was being a bit modest when saying swedes don't usually do this. Question someone who grew up in middle class and lower and you'll hear stories... Terrible stories xD

Yupp, the word hinder is taken straight from the english verb hinder. But in Swedish hinder is a noun, the verb is hindra.

We say piss in Sweden too. Kiss is a more tame version, something a kid could say without being told off by their parents. I don't know why he translated it into urine, as a direct translation I myself would say pee or wee.

"Olla" basically means touching the end of your penis on something. It got popularized by an animated TV show in Sweden back in mid 00's where the verbalized word started to get more common. Men specifically use this word as a joke or threat, like "If my co-workers are gonna steal my sandwiches again I'm gonna start 'olla" them and I'll get the last laugh!"

The word Kiss is a substantive and as he said that if you put an a after it becomes a verb, here is my input, to take a piss can be pronounced the same in Sweden and mean the same thing, for example "Jag ska slå en piss (I will "cast" a piss)" or "jag ska pissa (I will piss)"

Piss is also slang in Swedish for piss, however the word itself is ancient and wasn't originally slang, which is why it also exist in English. Kyss is a more passionate kiss. Kyss and kiss are cognate.

Half swede here: One of my cousins used to work at a hotel in Denmark (she lived and worked there while studying). One late evening there were two english speaking guests that asked her if they could still get food in the restaurant. She was gonna say "I'm sorry, but the chefs have gone home", but she had a brain fart and said "I'm sorry, but the kocks/cocks have gone home". She quickly realized what she had said and ran into the kitchen area and fell on the floor laughing her ass off 😂 also, he did explain the last word. It's just that it's a verb for touching something or someone with the tip of your penis 😂

Kiss in english could also be said as kyss in swddish kinda prounced as "shyss" but puss is definetely more common to say. To active kiss someone they it's pussa/kyssa. Puss och kram in swedish is like xo in english. A guy at work once said his family had some english speaking guests and they saw the swedish road signs "infart" "and utfart". From their english speaking point of view they came to the conclusion "ok i get utfart (think like a fart coming out) but what heck is an infart?!" So infart is entrance and utfart exit, way out but i totally get it it gotta be confusing for english speaking people. Another weird swedish word for english speakers is fagott which is the swedish name for the instrument bassoon!
