@@kathyp1563 Technically, everything is an option if you know where to look. I watch Korean, Chinese, Thai, and Filipino dramas most often, but not all of what I watch is technically on a legal streaming site. And Bake-Off is an option on Netflix now, but when I first started watching it, it was not. And Netflix still only has 8 "collections", whereas there have been 11 Series and many Celebrity versions that were done for charity that are not on Netflix. So, Bake-Off is available... sort of.

@@newgrl I guess my comment wasn't so much directed at the food entertainment (though that could be discussed & would be interesting to me), but that we Americans have desserts from all cultures of the world as an option to either buy or learn to make. Our cuisine is a plethora of cultural appropriation.

Sweet potato pie is actually not the only sweet potato dessert in the US! Sweet potato casserole is a baked dessert with a sweet potato filling, that's usually topped with marshmallow, or a crumble that's usually made from butter, brown sugar, and sometimes flour.

Vermont, I'd say, is much more known for it's maple desserts, like maple fudge & maple candy. But the king of them all is the maple creemee (maple soft ice cream)

Shoofly Pie earned it's name because the Pennsylvania Amish don't use modern tech like fridges. They cool the pies on the counter top or on the window sill and they had to constantly chase, or shoo, the flies away.

Since the video didn’t really explain what biscochitos are: they’re a bit like shortbread but you traditionally make them with lard. They have aniseed which taste a bit like licorice and then they’re coated in cinnamon and sugar. A lot of recipes also add brandy. I make them every Christmas :)

I live in Montana, and there’s a lot about the huckleberries that these videos don’t show. Huckleberries have never been successfully grown commercially, and they only grow certain places in the mountains, so they’re hard to get! Since they’re hard to come by, local stores and restaurants will pay big for the berries, so if you have a good spot, you can make 💰. Montanans will give you the shirt off their back, but the huckleberry spots are big secrets! Also, bears like them, so you got to be careful when going out to pick! 🐻

We camped in Glazier many years back. We were there maybe 1 day, when another hiker decided we needed to be able to recognize the Huckleberry. (It was August & they were ripe.) The entire trip, we'd get so excited when we found a bush of them. Probably why we encountered so many Grizzlies.

I was in Montana a couple of months ago and enjoyed a Huckleberry sundae there. I have had huckleberry flavoring in tea, but if what you say is true, then it is probably artifical flavoring.

Banana pudding (naner puddin) is good but I see more chess pies (my favorite) , pecan pies (2nd favorite) , sweet potato pies and pumpkin pies usually during holidays and all homemade.

I’m from Alabama and I’ve never even heard of lane cake. Probably the most beloved dessert that I know of is banana pudding, or nanner puddin’ as we say in the South. Second, would probably be pecan pie, and we pronounce it “puh-kahn”, not “pee-can”. Third, would probably be either peach or blackberry cobbler.

I live in Alabama and i second this. Nana pudding or pecan pie are definitely way more common than Lane cake. I’ve never even seen a lane cake to be honest.

I forgot to mention one of the best donuts that I've ever tried, a maple bacon donut! Yeast donut, a maple frosting with crispy bacon crumbled on top.

Back in our apartments building in NYC there was a young man who wanted to start a cheesecake business and was looking for investors. My fiancé (a huge cheesecake fan) asked if he could have a sample taste-testing first. It was delicious so we invested. He's doing great now and he sends us strawberry cheesecakes every now and then.

As a Pennsylvanian, whoopie pies are a MUST. I have some sitting beside me right now. If you can envision it, take the tops of two cupcakes and smush them together. Then you have a whoopie pie. The cake has to be soft and moist and the vanilla cream soft and melt in your mouth. So so soooo good.

As a Wisconsinite, honesty a Cream Puff is something you cant go wrong without. However, my personal favorite, and a very popular desert is Funnel Cake. It is similar to a Cream Puff, but it has no filling or cream, just crunchy, buttery deliciousness. And of course, dowsed in powdered sugar.

Key lime pie 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Frozen custard is actually really good . If you ever visit Colorado , pikes peak has excellent donuts ( ingredients are a bit different due to the 14,000 + elevation )

When you come to the US definitely try Culver’s! It’s a high-quality fast food chain that originated in my home state, but they have locations all over the country. They specialize in Butterburgers and Frozen Custard 🤤

We just had a Culver’s open 5 minutes (not even) from my house in FL… it’s the second one in town. I have to say What-a-burger burgers are better, however Culver’s frozen custard is soooo good.

Key lime is very good! It's tart, sweet & refreshing. Great on a hot, humid day. I'm surprised that they didn't mention the Kentucky Jam Cake. It's an old recipe, layers of spiced cake filled with blackberry jam between each layer & a caramel frosting. Sweet potato pie is absolutely amazing. It's filled with butter & spices.

The Amish make some of the absolute best homemade pies and cakes all 100% from scratch - actually all the food they make is amazing as its all from scratch and they take tremendous pride and care in their work and you certainly can taste the love they put in it. If you've never tried Key Lime pie I highly recommend trying it as its light for being a desert and great during the hot summer as its served chilled.

I live in New Hampshire, our apple orchards are amazing, there's nothing like going to a local farm and picking your own apples off of their trees. Ps...pumpkin picking is wicked here too!

You may think this is weird, but as a Washingtonian, I would have to say that the sweetest thing most common here are the flavored iced coffees and frappes. They can make them so they seem like a dessert. At least for me.

Pecan pie and chess pie are my two favorites. I also make a coconut,pecan, chess pie that is so beautiful and to die for. I get asked to make a fresh blackberry cake with fresh blackberry icing for gatherings all the time. We are foodies in the States. I am a southern Lady here from the hills of Tennessee

Flan was not described but it is popular here in New Mexico as well as most of the Southwestern states. It is a rich vanilla custard but the custard is poured over a sugar mixture and then baked. When cooled, it is inverted and a sweet slightly burned sugar syrup sits on top of it. It is also baked into the bottom layer (now the top since inverted) of the custard and the excess sugar syrup is spooned into your bowl around the custard and often a dollop of whipped cream placed on the top. It is super good. Don't miss this treat when you are traveling in the U.S. Most of the better Mexican restaurants usually have flan on their dessert menu.

You can get frozen custard at Culver's restaurants. I'm biased given its ridiculously popular where I live, but when you come to the US and are looking for fast food Culver's is rated among the best chain restaurants, and it's frozen custard is the best fast food desserts you can get in the country

St. Louis has the best frozen custard... period. This is the best explanation I've seen from a review "Their frozen custard is compared to the sword of King Arthur; once you put in a spoon, only King Arthur himself can remove it. It has a heap of flavors, including toppings like Cherry. Those of you who covet the genuine custard ought to come here for a heavenly Frozen Custard.". It's amazing as a St. Louisan that I can get this at my local supermarket. I've had Wisconsin frozen custard and while it's still so tasty, it doesn't really stack up to what I've had locally. It should be noted that Ted Drewes spawned a frozen custard war in St. Louis and as a result I've tasted amazing frozen custard that isn't Ted Drewes.

Smith Island cake is soooo good. Frozen custard is like soft serve but smoother and eggier again so good. I have a family recipe for homemade frozen custard that's so good.

Growing up in the south, my favorite desserts are: banana pudding, chess pie, peach cobbler, pecan pie and key lime pie. I'm not a huge fan of fruit pies for some reasons yeah, these are some delicious desserts.

In DC, we love an apple fritter. It's nice dough filled with chopped and seasoned apple cooked with cinnamon and other spices, then it's wrapped in dough and put in the oven or fried then you put a vanilla glaze on top. The outside is crunchy and the inside is nice and soft.

Even though I'm not from Tennessee, I absolutely love banana pudding. I'm from South Carolina and my mom makes it and brings it to all the family gatherings every year. I also enjoy key lime pie.

If you like pumpkin pie then you will like the sweet potatoes pie. Same texture and its often makes with same spices. Serve it with whipped cream on top.

Key Lime Pie is very similar to cheese cake. A Key Lime is a variety of "Lime" named after the Florida Keys. It's a bit sweeter and less tart than other limes....so this "cheese cake" is sweet with a little tart kick......love it.

One thing the video missed is Arizona's scorpion lollipops. I don't actually eat them (and I haven't met any AZ resident who has), but I love telling tourist who are non the wiser 😂 watching people freak out or be confused once they get to the scorpion inside is hilarious

From the 3 videos of iconic foods I've seen you react to (I think you've reacted to all 3), the Kansas BBQ joint, Joe's KC; iconic Missouri pizza, Grinder's; & Kansas' iconic dessrt Sheridan's frozen custard; are all found in the greater Kansas City metro area, & are less than 20 miles apart. Both Illinois and Wisconsin also is known for ice cream flavor called Blue Moon and no not the alcohol drink it’s vanilla that has a smurf color blue look and the taste is like a mixture of almond extract and marshmallow and sweat vanilla BubbleGum flavored it’s delicious and the blue color is beautiful

Whoopie pies are so so so good. We have a weekly Farmers' Market to which several Amish families produce and baked goods. A few times during the season, we get to our favorite stand for apple dumplings (think a kind of free-formed apple pie which usually contains one whole, peeled, cored apple that is then surrounded by brown sugar and butter with cinnamon sprinkled liberally. The whole mess is baked until the crust is golden and the apple is done. REAL Amish will pour cold milk over the hot dumpling - and that's good, but I'm told cinnamon ice cream is the way to go. We usually forgo anything on top.We also get a few whoopie pies, which come with many more fillings (and indeed, flavors of the cookie/cake part, too) than this video indicated. I love peanut butter filled chocolate or a pumpkin with cream cheese filling. There's oatmeal with buttercream, and red velvet and really, the varieties are endless. Having said all that, I love a good chocolate cake and that one you're drooling over, Kabir, looks wicked good. But my favorite desserts are a good cheesecake with or without a topping, and, finally, pecan pie, warm from the oven, with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. YUM! You come visit me, Kabir, when you're in the US and I'll get my family to provide a dessert smorgasboard. ;-)

When I lived in Oklahoma, there was an Arbuckle Fried Pie shop across the street from my house. It was an exercise in willpower to drive past it every morning taking the kids to school. Many fruit flavors at Arbuckle are seasonal because they want to put the freshest ingredients in their pies. Take one home and microwave it for 5-10 seconds, and it tastes like it just came out of the oven. I also recommend putting your glazed Krispy Cremes in the microwave for 5 seconds. Try it. You’ll thank me.

I live in Puerto Rico and there are hundreds of bakeries on this island that serve all types of flans, cakes and pastries every single day. One thing I really miss from the States, though, is a European fruit tart, that had a shortbread cookie type crust, a thin layer of chocolate spread over the bottom to keep it from leaking, filled with a custardy cream and topped with berries. It was the single most delicious dessert I've ever had.

Blackberry cobbler is almost as good as a peach cobbler and they have an elderberry jelly that you have to try it's really the best mostly found in Amish stores

Key lime pie is the best. Whether you make it or buy it, it is the best. I first ate it in the Keys. When I was in Cocoa Beach, Florida I found the Key West Key Lime Pie factory. Best Key lime pie ever.

Kabir, these are my favs! Firstly, you really need to get a snow cone/shaved ice with rainbow syrup, and a must have~ PECAN PIE!!!! I love the sugar cake/pie, it's simplicity makes it ALL THE BETTER! The list goes on, um Boston creme pie, from my state ~the coconut cake! And of course, banana pudding! There's so much more, but I do this everytime, I don't jot down till middle of vid! Lol! Oh, and I'm sorry, but I wouldn't try flan! I'm so sorry, I'm certainly not being rude to this beautiful custard treat, but I just don't think I'd like it! But, there are so many more! We aren't trying to fatten you up, lol, but maybe a part 2!??? Hmmm🤔 great vid as usual, much ♡ fam!

I'd like to think that California had something better to offer in the dessert category than a doughnut. And you should definitely try sweet potato pie. It's delicious and not on the super sweet side.

There are two types of shoo fly pie: Wet and dry bottom. Wet bottom is the way to go! My family heats it up a little and serves it with ice cream.

I didn't try Whoopie Pies until last week in Hickory, NC near my hometown of Vale. The food truck Cousin's sold them along with Main lobster rolls, ad it was one of the best things ever put in my mouth.

I’m from Colorado and I have never had the dessert that they said Colorado likes. I like large cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting! In Northern Colorado Colorado, you can find large Cinnamon Rolls anywhere. Also we like Strawberry Rhubarb Pie! When my Mama was alive, She used to make the best Chokecherry Jam. She used to make about a hundred jars and give them as Christmas gifts. People used to beg my Mama to package and sell it.

Lived in Alabama for most of my life and the dessert they mentioned, never even heard of it. Banana pudding, pecan pie or fried apple pies are actually common here.

@@kabirconsiders It is a very rich dessert. I try to limit myself to having it once or twice per year. Banana pudding, done the right way(made with homemade custard not instant pudding), is a little less rich, maybe a smidge healthier and I try to have it about 5 or 6 times a year.

They mentioned frozen custard but not frozen yogurt. If you come to OK or TX, stop at a Braum's and try their frozen yogurt. It takes as good as ice cream, but is healthy for you like yogurt. It's fantastic! :)

If you’re going to try peach cobbler in Georgia, you have to first come here. When you leave the airport you’ll be in a big city. Get out of there. Travel into the woods until you hear banjo music. You will come upon an old wooden house that will have smoke coming out of the chimney (even in the summer) that’s granny Geraldine cooking cobbler in a cast iron skillet over a wood stove fire. That’s peach cobbler. Nothing else will do.

You’re missing all the wonderful desserts that England’s Baker Mary Berry makes. The British baking show had some amazing desserts. My favorite desserts in the list are Peach cobbler, pecan pie and key lime pie
