You’re correct to assume college fans are more passionate than NFL. College football is allot like soccer in that it’s more localized so it means more to the fans, more traditions, more history, more rivalry’s. Having been to both, the vibe at Auburn vs Alabama was very similar to the old firm

One bit of context that gets left out is not only are all of these huge plays, but almost every one of them is either a massive upset, a brutal rivalry, or a championship game. Almost none of them were without supreme fan interest even before you consider how great the play was. I wish they didn’t put music over this. College football calls are some of the greatest in the world IMO. They get SO into their calls.

Being a college football fan, especially for a team that isn't a "traditionally" great team, is a labor of love. My dad never misses a game, and on any given Saturday in the fall, he's going to either be in his team's stadium or watching them on TV if it's an away game. They've had a few good seasons and produced some amazing NFL talent, but man if the majority of seasons haven't been heartbreakers at times. I've seen my dad go in full-on depressions at times. College athletics is the only thing in the US I think you could find a comparison for the loyalty and religion-like quality you talk about in English football. Professional teams are too far away from most people and the fact that a team could hypothetically be moved at any time, it's hard to get SUPER invested. Universities don't move, and they've been around longer than professional sports in the US. People can trace their allegiance to college teams all the way back to the 1800s, usually. It's really special, and the number of people that get into it (the huge stadiums you see) is a testament to that. Also, I'm sure you're aware but some of these special moments had less to do with the actual play, but rather the weight of the game, the history between the two teams, specific players, etc. For example, that clip where you talked about pitch invasions was Ole Miss beating the perennial powerhouse that is Alabama football. Beating Alabama is monumental no matter what, and when you do it in monumental fashion like that, people are going to go wild.

One thing that’s awesome about Army/Navy is that it’s a rivalry that exists in the Military branches, which we bond over. 13:04 was one of the greatest passes by Tua Tagovailoa when Alabama won the 2018 national championship game back in January 2019. I watched that game in it's entirety. Such excitement. If you watched closely, Irv Smith Jr. accidentally knocks down a photographer when Alabama went to celebrate that touchdown pass LOL! The last clip was called "The Kick Six" when Auburn upset Alabama back during the 2013 Iron Bowl. Alabama was going to make a field goal attempt during the last second of the game, when it was short of the goal post. There was an Auburn punt returner beside the goal post line. When the football veered off, the Auburn punt returner caught the football, and took off with it towards the other way. Auburn won the game 34-28. There hasn't been anything like that since then. Coming from an Alabama fan, that was a lucky save for Auburn that evening.

@@kabirconsiders as some who grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan with season tickets to the 110,000+ capacity Michigan stadium (the large one you mentioned in your video) I can tell college football is electric. I don't know if you've seen it but my favorite (and the most hype) tradition is from the University of Wisconsin where between the third and fourth quarter the entire stadium jumps while the PA system plays "Jump Around". The whole stadium literally shakes and it's one of those seismic events. It's an absolute must see, and even though Wisconsin is a rival of my team Michigan it makes me get hype. I'd recommend you see videos on best places to "tailgate" in college football, (I'm assuming you don't tailgate in the UK or it's called something else). Tailgate is essentially massive outdoor parties outside the stadium attended by tens of thousands of people. They start before the sunrise of gameday and end well after sunset.

One thing about college football is that the season is short and intense: 12 games, once a week, and a bowl game about a month later. Then from Jan to Sep you wait and you wait and you wait! Soccer, is just the opposite. There seems to be almost no offseason. I mean, right now, they have the Euros. But as soon as that is over, they have a preseason tour and BOOM... new season in September. The off-season of Soccer is just enough time to get a cup of coffee and sit down and before you know it, there's a match on.

Keep in mind additionally not only are these teams often times tremendous rivals but the conferences themselves are rivals as well for the quality of the game that they play within the conferences individually. Southeastern conference and the Big Ten conference is respectively do not have much respect for conferences in the western part of the US because they play such a large passing game with not as much defense. The NFL is known for its passing game and the university games are changing to be more pass-oriented, whereas the original American football game, where the “tough guys” played what was known as “3 yards in a cloud of dust”, meaning strong but brutal running games is still defended as real football. Both running games and passing games and the combination of the two all have their good points. Understanding the emotion behind the games that one in these highlights and the actual players who made the scores are really important part of understanding the actual games themselves. Just as in the UK there are a long-standing football rivalries the university rivalries are often over 100 years old.

Yeah, British football fans live it like American college football fans do. Very similar passion. Here's a story for you: I'm a lifelong fan and graduate of the University of Alabama. The south endzone of Bryant-Denny Stadium is directly across the street from a large city cemetery. When I was a student there in the early 90s, the guy buried in the corner plot facing the stadium entrance had a living trust that paid to decorate his grave site in team regalia on home game days. Not even death can stop a Crimson Tide fan. When I heard the story of the "F You I'm Millwall" guy, it resonated. I could totally picture his Alabama counterpart being like, "Nuh uh, not in Tide Country, asshole!" Oh, and American sports jargon tip: the pose held by the guy at 6:38, with his hands on his head and his mouth hanging open in disbelief, is known in America as the "surrender cobra." I've struck that pose many times myself. LOL

Manziel was famous as a “running” quarterback. When the NFL pays you millions a year, they don’t want you running the ball and getting beat up every play. So, after being “encouraged” to stay in the backfield and only pass, it became apparent he wasn’t as good as he looked in college.

Stanford football home games are the best! The Stanford University Campus is called "The Farm" and its huge! There is a big forest in the middle of campus and the football stadium is in the middle or that forest. The day od the game, a lot of people park their cars and trucks and RVs in the forest and camp out there all day and night. Once the game starts at night, they turn on all the floodlights at the stadium and being in the dark forest with no lights and then having this big lighted up stadium in the middle looks like something out or a Sci fi movie! It's so cool! And all the bleachers in the stadium are metal and everyone in the whole stadium bangs the bleachers non stop while the game is playing. It sounds like the ancient Roman Colloseum with the Gladiators!!!

The snow game was the traditional Army-Navy game, between the US Military Academy (Army) and the US Naval Academy. It doesn't matter if the teams are very good or not, the game is a fierce rivalry. All of the fans from the two schools show up in full uniform to sit in the stands, and the energy in the game is electric. In the early part of the 20th century, both teams were excellent, some of the best college football in the country, and the rivalry then was intense.

They used the wrong version of the final play. That has to be shown in full the way it aired. Alabama was supposed to go to overtime with Auburn but Alabama argued there was one more second on the clock. They decided to use that final second to try a looooong field goal for 3 points to win the game. However they had been missing easier kicks all game. But they tried. Since the kick was not far enough it landed in the field of play. Auburn wisely had Chris Davis Jr. stand there in case it was short. And he ran 107 yards through the whole Alabama team and scored. Which sent Auburn to the SEC Championship and then to the BCS championship. Where they played Florida State. The final play of that game was shown too quickly and without context as well. The reason Florida State was able to make that play is because Chris Davis Jr. from the other game, was penalized for interference on the receiver, letting Florida State try again. And this time they threw it high enough where only one player on the field could catch it, Kelvin Benjamin. Combine this with the earlier game in Auburn's season where the ball bounced of the other team's helmet and they scored, and Auburn's season was truly magical. They almost won it all with magic.

Actually in College football storming the field is allowed. Not for every game but its pretty well accepted that in major games theirs no point in trying to keep the students off the field. I've gotten to storm the field 2x including the first one they showed in this video, I went to Iowa State. One time we beat our major in-state rival, the Hawkeyes, in double overtime. The one in the video was the same year, when we beat the then #1 ranked team, also in overtime, we are one of the lower ranked teams that rarely has players that make it to the NFL so it was a big deal. Both time their were security guards in front of the seating that let everyone through as soon as the game was officially done.

At 10:45 you have to react to that 2014 ohio state buckeyes team. It was the first year of the playoff and they went through 3 qbs bc of injuries and all the trials and tribulations (including the death of a teammate) they went through that year really cemented the playoff and its just a great story overall. I highly recommend looking into it at some point. There's definitely some pong videos just bc of how doubted they were. It was the last time a major upset really happened in the playoff and it was the first ever playoff in college football history. There's probably some long videos to get the full view on everything but that team was super talented and no one had them winning it. Everyone picked against them. I also recommend watching a video about the 2003 national championship Ohio State vs Miami. It's a great game that signed the end of one dynasty and the beginning of a new one with tremendous backstory with how uber talented the 2 teams were. With debatable flags and everything. Just 2 great stories with 2 great upsets.

One of the oldest football mini games to play to practicing catching a Hail Mary pass is called jackpot. We used to play it all the time back in the day. The game was to 1000 points. You won’t have a whole by himself call out a number and throw the ball high and deep. The group of people would then try their best to catch it or stop someone else from the catch
