Re posted comment here after the first thread glitched deleted itself. Why he is standing on flags? He is not doing it deliberately to offend. Its just our flag and National pride Culture here in the UK isn't a big serious thing to us as its not culturally ingrained into our minds and society like how the US is for Example .Other reasons are that we don't have flag laws and procedures really like other nations do with what is right and wrong with flags folding not touching ground etc, neither do we have pledges to the nation or the flag from a young age either. just really Government ,armed forces, ceremonial stuff where flag etiquette and oath is taken with the upmost respect and patriotic pride when it comes to it, so it's not being disrespectful deliberately even though it appears that way To people outside the UK , just the simple fact the General public here don't really think about flags culturally like other nations do. We Have Union jack Carpet rugs and door matts too which i doubt Any American would have a US version so you can understand how things are different here. The final reason why Flags and patriotic pride culture here isn't really a big thing also is do to it being a controversial subject in UK society for like the past 30 40s years as far right groups adopted the Union Jack and St Georges Cross which then left a long lasting stigma for any Normal Patriotic person here showing flags or National pride as it has caused everyone nearly to be scared so no one hardly puts up flags in fear of getting labelled with political accusations. People like this guy or anyone who basically shows visible pride here get mocked with the words like Gammons , flag shaggers basically words saying your old fashioned backwards and stupid , it's is gradually loosing that stigma now though but still continues to a degree. we still have regular stupid debates on tv about whether its racist or not to show flags and be patriotic. I personally think any country has a right to show National pride ,annoying it has to be problematic thing here though. You should see the amount of Brits on twitter having a regular meltdown that their own National food produce like egg boxes and loafs of bread milk Bottles having the Union Jack on it threatening to boycott British company's and making out it's the equivalent to Nazism , so over all you can understand the reasons now and see why the subject of flags and patriotism is complex here in the UK. A final note you may see lots of flags in London but that's because its the Capital and a Tourist location go outside London you'll see a lot less trust me.
