MiniTool Partition Wizard has zero options to do anything with the stick. it shows that READ ONLY in red.

Many thanks Britec. 1 hour later after trying nearly everything to clear "write protect" on a usb drive, then MiniTool Partition Wizard removes "write protect" in less than 5 seconds. Cheers Mate.

I have a Sandisk flash drive that is write protected. The tutorial didn't help. I tried reformatting and got the same message "The disk is write protected". It has a Sandisk Secure access.exe file. Not sure if that is the reason.

As the video notes indicate the write protection could be the result of the flash drive failing and reverting to read only mode to allow you to recover your data off the device. I have had several flash drives fail like this.

External drive was working on every computer except one. Did the disk part attribute clear while on the machine that was refusing to write to the disk and it worked one time. Thanks very much

on the partition wizard software, my disk was listed as read-only, and I am unable to right click it, is there any way I can fix this?

I followed through all the steps right up to Mini Partition Wizard. When I got there, it showed the MicroSD card as Read Only, so I couldn't do anything with it. Thanks, anyway.

I didn't have the Write Protection in my registry. Once i added it I could format the USB drive. Thanks mate

Hi, Brian. I've managed to clear a few write protected USB thumb drive with diskpart clear all, but it's always nice to see other options, so thanks.

These methods didn't work for me. For the Regedit, I didn't have the option for Read Only. For the Partition Fix solution, my USB wasn't partitioned. It seems as though my USB doesn't want read-permission. How is this possible? I couldn't tell if the drive was damanged as my device manager view was VERY different to yours.

Diskpart says it cleared readonly but it didn't. Downloaded and ran MiniTool Partition Wizard but I don't get a Delete Partition option. I can read the files on the drive, but I cannot modify or delete any. I also cannot format the drive. At a loss as to how to gain access to this drive again. It is unknown by both users as to how the drive got set to readonly in the first place. There is no hardware switch on the drive.

I faced this problem: In a U3 portable USB stick I HAVE TWO PARTITIONS, a CDFS and Another, the latter format it in the disk manager, but the CDFS is like a CD Drive, write protected, any idea how to delete the CDFS partition, Has 3 U3 exe files...well?

nothing works for me, ive got a bunch of USBs I cant use anymore because everything that seems to work for others doesnt for me. ive tried partition wizard and it doesn't even let me click on the usb like yours. mine also says read only in red.

Thanks for making this video. However my drive still displays read only. Nothing worked. I have tried 2 different adapters and plugged the micro sd card directly into a card read. The card is the camera card from a WYZE camera that is no longer in use. 32gb card. I can't do anything with Minitool Partition Wizard. It shows Read Only and no options are displayed except to backup data. :(

Whenever I have a stubborn USB drive that just won't format or un-partition with Windows 10/11 Disk Management, I use my Ventoy USB drive and an old laptop and boot into Hiren’s BootCD based on Windows 10 PE x64. There is a specific type of disk management software included within called AOMEI Partition Assistant that never fails to format, or de-partition any USB flash drive or SD/microSD card

Great video! Have a Samsung 64 g USB with Linux OS bootable that only used 2 gigs. I used redit to delete the file, then cmd diskpart to clean and complete format now I'm using the drive as a recovery drive. Thank you.

Tried all of these steps. No worky. Can't run Partition Wizard because it won't run in Vista 32-bit. The final step, formatting in diskpart(cmd) didn't work either. just sat at 0 percent forever. So I guess I'm screwed?

Opened a brand new flash drive, put a few files on it went to an office deopt, couldn't read the files, then I went to a kinkos it asked to reformat. Get home now I get this! unfortunately I guess that office depot screwed up my job because none of this worked. Thanks for video though.

Thank you. Until I found this video I tried the command inputs over and over and was told each time that the write protect removal was successful. But format still didn't work. Somehow (I'm no guru) I got to computer management and clicked on the correct drive letter / number. I could try format from that location and got the message there is an input / output error in the device. Previously I saw no such message. I was using a card reader with a short cord because my laptop sd card slot doesn't recognize the card. I changed to a different card reader and finally got success.

I was using ATTO to benchmark a brand new HP 64 gig x796w USB drive when Windows 10 decided to have one of its very rare bluescreens. Upon reboot the HP drive came up as read only. NONE of the methods in this video will do anything. I've also tried Rufus and AOMEI.

On the Mini Tool Partition it only says 'Read Only'. It's flash drive. It won't delete. I bet you would like to get hold of a drive like this 1 to fix. I've tried almost every & anything i can to resolve the issue!

Sadly none of this worked for me, Minitool notes my disk as Read Only in the name block on the left hand side and won't give me a drop down list. Diskpart>clean also fails. The disk has only been used to play music in my car as an auxiliary device

in my prendrive read only is coming while doing this what to do i am irritated with this
