Catering has been reduced recently .. included a starter salad and proper pudding few months ago. Be aware that these jets are being reconfigured with extra rows behind the overwing exits reducing the pitch dramatically.. .

Fantastic trip report as always! Hope you're not diabetic after consuming all of that Irn Bru and tablet. I've flown this route a lot and really like the Embraer 190 cabin but the leg room will become tighter as the aircraft are reconfigured with extra seats. The catering can be a hit hit or miss on Cityflyer- it depends on the length of the flight and if there are more than 24 passengers booked in Club Europe they automatically serve a cold meal as there is only oven capacity for 24 hot meals. Interesting review. Along with the lunch you will also have had a significant luggage allowance, which would probably give you good value for your £75. Its Usually 2x 32kg checked bags and 2 cabin bags. The price of a 32kg bag on line is £80. so its well worth the £75 if you need to take a lot of bags. Many people concentrate on the lounges and the in flight service but the luggage allowance is often my only reason for flying CLub.

Great review Mark. There’s something inexplicably enjoyable and superior about a regional BA flight. I used to fly between LHR and Leeds/Bradford practically every week, and then they stopped that route! 45 mins up and then down (sometimes 30 mins if the wind was in our favour). This video is perfect timing for me -- I just booked Nice - LCY - Edinburgh on BA Club Europe for June. I have a 4 hour layover at LCY, so a lounge would certainly be useful; pity they don't offer one. One reason I'm flying Club Europe on this route is that I have checked luggage and that's included in the fare. So, the difference between economy and Club Europe is not as much. I thought your salmon lunch looked great and it's the sort of meal I would enjoy on a flight. It's good that BA offers meals in business on these short one-hour hops. Here in Canada, on such short flights the only thing to differentiate business from economy, other than priority boarding, is that you may be offered a glass of wine or beer with your pack of pretzels, while in Economy you just get the pretzels and a soft drink.

Great video Mark on your London/Edinburgh flight. Yes for the short flight times, economy is better. Wasn't impressed with the flight meals(detest both salmon and goat's cheese salad)! The lounge at Edinburgh looked ok, good to see you having the Irn Bru! Yes save your money. However the flight a lot better for you than the Caledonian sleeper experience! Considering the amount of BA departures from LCY and the amount of Club Europe passengers it does seem that with the absence of a proper business lounge the CE prices are extortionate.

To be fair, BA operates only a few flights from EDI to LCY and a considerable proportion are corporate bookings where business class is a standard. The majority of BA flights are to LHR, with the vast majority of passengers connecting to onward long haul destinations, where the business class offering is more substantial. Good to see, disappointed you didn't explore Scotland's capital city 🙂

Very useful vid! Now I know to sit in exactly the same seat in economy, do without the glorified snack and plan a very nice dinner with the 100 quid I've saved.

I wouldn't fly club Europe to anywhere from LCY, purely because of the lack of a lounge. Domestically, given those prices too does seem a bit of a luxury to upgrade for a salmon potato salad and a few glasses of champers. The experience to places like Madrid which has really good Iberia lounges make the flight. Of course using AVIOS makes the flight much cheaper as well, if you know how to collect them in an optimal way.
