This was my first visit back to JFK since British Airways moved to Terminal 7 at the end of 2022, so I was really interested to try out a couple of their new combined lounges, and see whether it had been a change for the good, or not.
So, come with me to see what I thought of the new Greenwich and Soho lounges, as well as what the service was like on my overnight Club Suites flight with British Airways, back to Heathrow.

This was an Avios Reward Flight booked with British Airways, using a BA Amex 2-4-1 voucher to give me a 50% reduction on the Avios required. This was the third of 4 legs on the same booking
Full booking - £350 plus 90,000 Avios - reduced from 180,000 Avios (for complete trip GLA-LHR-JFK-LHR-GLA)
JFK-LHR approx. 45% of total trip (£350.00 *0.45) = £157.40 plus 90k Avios (*0.45 = 40,500 Avios) - at notional price of 0.8p per Avios = £324.00
Total cost for flight JFK-LHR - £481.40

That Bridge area in the Greenwich lounge is quite remarkable - I was through there twice in the last few weeks and had no idea it was there! Just carry on through the tasting room??? I think it used to be another Admirals club...

It used to be two separate areas, so you're remembering correctly. The old flagship was through the sliding door to the left, and the Admirals Club (and the Bridge) was through the double glass doors to the right. The reception staff would usually scan your pass/card and then direct you either left or right, depending on your access level. Now it's all opened up into a single lounge for the new "Greenwich" lounge part, so you can walk all the way round (through a new opening on what used to be the back wall of the Flagship Dining room).

Turkey dinner is always a good choice! I've decided to focus my tier point running onto BA now instead of Royal Jordanian, even though I did a video stating RJ was my favorite program. Seems even as a US resident, I can still reach BA elite status faster and with much fewer flights, just need to visit either the UK or Spain once a year to fly those required BA or Iberia segments. We'll see how it goes. POOOKE!!!

Thankfully it wasn't all dried out or overcooked, as chicken/turkey can sometimes be onboard - and I'm such a big fan of this around the festive season (I know lots of people get sick of it, but not me). I know a few people in the US who maintain status with BA - as you note, that sweet spot of Silver (which gives lounge access etc) is relatively easy in one trip to achieve if you structure your TP run right. Good luck! I've a run like that later this year - looking forward to a couple of transcons as part of it.

Cheers Dom - and yeah, I still live in the fervent hope that someone restarts scheduled services on a legacy carrier to the US. Having flown on the seasonal AA flight that used to run to ORD, it was always quite handy (especially since I credit my flights to BA/Oneworld), but i'd take anything to not have to connect via LHR/AMS/CDG/DUB for an onward US flight.

The soho lounge looks great, just a shame that BAs onboard service is still very poor

SoHo was great - I found the food etc on offer in there to be far better than BA offer in their own Galleries First (BA Gold/Oneworld Emerald) lounge at Heathrow - where there's virtually no different between it, and the business class lounge. Oboard service has been getting better - and as always, you're usually going to find a good crew on a BA flight, but catering in particular is still behind the competitors (not AA, which is still worse) - still signs of penny pinching in terms of what's offered - and in this day and age, is it really so hard to offer pre-order or "book the cook"?

Another great video, thanks for sharing. I’m doing the same route in club world in November. Very much looking forward to it, just hope the Greenwich lounge food offering ups its game! A quick question, as a business class ticket (with no other BA status), would I have access to the arrivals lounge do you think ? Is it before or after customs and baggage claim ? Thanks again for your great content 👍

Thanks Nick! I didn't get a chance to try the food in Greenwich - and at the very least I think it should be as good as the Galleries Club offering you get in Heathrow - certainly it's still 100 time better than an Admirals Club!! Yes - on a business or first class class ticket (regardless of status) you would have access to the arrivals lounge at Heathrow T5 (BA Golds can access, regardless of class of travel). This is landside, so after you've cleared immigration/passport control and collected any baggage. As you come out of International Arrivals on the ground floor of T5, stay to your left (with arrivals behind you, and the exit from the building in front of you), and as you come out, there should be an escalator up a level that's sign posted for the BA Arrivals lounge. It's relatively easy to find, but just check the signage, or ask a member of staff if you've having any problems.

@ScottishT and its massively appreciated! As you say - it makes a huge difference with the KZfaq algorithm in terms of promoting the video to other viewers, if its had a load of comments on it. Got a wee Scottish video coming up in the next month or so - Loganair to/from Campbelltown on a "slightly" smaller aircraft than this one - a Twin Otter. Something a bit different 😀
