I've actually seen the Suez Canal when I was stationed in Egypt in the US Army. It is a very small waterway, practically a ditch; so it is no surprise to me that modern tankers routinely get stuck, and I can assure you it would be no problem to render it inoperative.

Our citizens literally go out on weekends sometimes practicing militia drills. Defense of the homeland is important and the time can always come.

Well when Americans say. “We have all the oil we need here, why the heck are we still buying it from overseas!?!?” So we don’t have to use it in case this happens. It’s called combat readiness. And keeping our oil reserves is a major part of protecting the homeland. Pretty simple.

For everything the common man knows (like the guy(s) who made this video), there's something, even if only a work in progress, that is highly classified and kept under wraps for tactical advantage. Even if the US didn't have the best military in terms of equipment and preparedness, it's true strength lies in its ability to take its time and strategize the best possible course of action and then make that happen.

I’m a US citizen. My father is retired military. Having grown up I’ve never had the feeling the US ever to want or feel it needed to conquer the world. A super power who’s directive is be able to fight 2 wars simultaneously is sure winner for any country. The money spent yearly on our defense budget for the military is and has been more then many GDPs countries around the world. That being said the movie War Games comes to mind when the computer simulations at NORAD plays out scenarios only to conclude the best to win the war is not to play the game.

In my immediate family over the course of 25 years we have had: 5 marines; 4 naval personnel; 1 Army Ranger. All of the navy members served on an aircraft carrier. Theres a lot of power out there on the high seas.

Understand, the USA has this capability now and has had it for several years, but has made no moves to dictate to the rest of the world. Instead, the USA has had an attitude of "Can't we all just get along and live and let live?" The USA also sends help or requests permission to send help to countries with natural disasters, even if those countries have animosity to the USA. Several points I want to bring up about the US population. First, we have a good population of vets. So when invading homeland USA, you will be fighting Ex-military. Next to Ex-military who's your best beat for a soldier? Countries have known this answer since WW2 or before. The answer is hunters. They're use to walking around the woods stalking, tracking and shooting their prey. Hunting in the US is a multi billion dollar business. They have the camo clothes and gear for going out in the woods. They have the skills. Most hunters have several guns for different types of hunting. High powered bolt action rifles with scopes. Semi auto rifles etc. They are use to sitting and waiting. Now throw in the mix that they are fighting for their homes and lives. A group of hunters in an area they hunt would wreck havoc on any invading army. There high powered deer rifles will become sniper rifles. There semi auto rifles will be used to engage in infantry and they have home field advantage. The some citizens of the US own and train with their firearms. It's not like a store clerk walks into a gun store and picks up a pocket gun or you are handing out guns to citizens that have never fired one (which could happen in the US). Those citizens, that own guns, are going to be a nightmare for any invading army.

If it's any consolation and makes you feel better we (The USA) do consider you to be our friends. Remember though. We appear to be a nation full of so many different views and political beliefs that we could not possibly agree on anything. That is not really the case. After the 9/11 attacks everyone and I mean EVERYONE was pissed. People who had never considered military careers we signing up just to get a chance to hit back. I knew guys that quit their jobs to travel to NY City to volunteer in the cleanup. 24*7 there was a feeling of Fury in the air. Most people know how proud Americans are of their country. That is what makes us a special kind of dangerous when crossed.

As a US Navy vet I love how info graphics always forgets that the US tends to go for the jugular in wars. We would go for the oil but we would also use our vast inventory of long range conventional missles to wipe out as many military targets as posible first and lets not forget history proves that when faced with insurmountable odds like japan in ww2 we can do things like fire bombing campaigns which killed more than the 2 nukes we dropped , and besides even hitler had allies at first in russia and italy

One fact this doesn't take into account. The US has the largest oil reserve on the planet estimated to be somewhere between 3-9 TRILLION barrels worth of oil. The original estimates were 3 trillion, but the latest numbers suggest it is closer to 9 trillion. As for how much of that is recoverable, about 20%-30% using modern technology. So anywhere from 900 billion to 3 trillion barrels of recoverable oil. Edit: This is an oil reserve that nobody has tried to access yet because of how deep it is and how difficult it will be to extract that oil. Of course, the real problem here is that they completely ignored South Ameria as they don't really have any military capabilities, but what they do have is OIL and if the world elected to exploit that and then use their good submarines to scout a safe path from Brazil to Europe, small amount of oil from South America could get through the US blockade. Oh, and OPEC stands for the "Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries"

Having been in war as a US soldier I can tell you most of that on the video is true. But I can also tell you that it should be a great relief for everyone in the world to know that there is only a handful of countries in the world that having that much power would wield it responsibly and not want to take over other countries and conquer other countries, and the US is one of those. if certain other countries had this much power we would be doomed. Also, having that much power does not guarantee a win, look at Afghanistan I believe we got our asses handed to us because Society at the time and our leadership would not allow us to bring full power to bear.

This also didn’t even consider stuff like the Civil Reserve Air Fleet. DoD airlift capability using some 450 aircraft ready within 72 hours from over 20 airlines like FedEx and UPS. FedEx alone has over 400 long range cargo aircraft capable of moving troops, munitions, and even vehicles. We can basically send anything, anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. It’s like a having a 4th U.S. air force.

Still, the main takeaway for me is how pointless it would be to waste all these resources and lives while crippling the world economy. The lack of meaningful transport has always been the Achilles heel of any Eurasian country wanting to invade the United States...even France strained its marine resources to support its Imperial adventure in Mexico in the 1860s, and this was only made possible by Britain's (and the Royal Navy's) forbearance, and the United States being pre-occupied with its Civil War. If Russia, China or India shared a land border with the contiguous United States, that would be a major problem for Americans, but its long been recognized that, if you can't march there, a country's army can't directly threaten the United States.

In Colorado Springs (USA) the airforce bases are now being bolstered by Space Force bases... satellite capabilities were touched on in this video but to have an entire devoted branch likely means those abilities run much deeper.

Love these "paper war" videos. Yes, on paper we can take on everyone and win. The casualties for us would be very high at the start but the longer it goes on the easier it gets for us. New data - Whoever did the VS video apparently never heard of "Star Wars". We now have so many of the new generation laser space weapons that we have had to open a new military branch to deal with it. Those particular weapons are now small enough to be placed on ships also and they've tested very well meaning that China won't be overwhelming our defense systems quite so easily. We also have "invisible tanks" now (2 types) new and improved submarines and stuff I can't even tell you because I don't think I would like military prisons. One of my favorite videos is when Trump took office and was briefed by the joint chiefs about American Military Capabilities. (I liked Trump, if you don't I don't care.) He came out of that meeting almost babbling like an idiot because the knowledge that had just been handed to him put him into a state of shock. As a retired Navy carrier pilot, I flew against Soviet aircraft and in wars games. The military doctrine is to hit hard at the enemies bases, both land and sea ports. I know we have always been taught to fight a defense battle, but our plan B is lethal beyond words. We have so many weapons in secret, in places like area 51 and elsewhere, the public and our enemies would be shocked. The day a war like this would happen is so small it's safe to say it would not happen at all. Everyone in the world understands the United States is a sleeping giant best left alone. Look what happened to Japan in WWII. Oh and as far as you gaining entry into the USA once the shooting starts, not very. The country would lock down the entry to prevent spies. Cheers

Just letting you know there are actual drills the US does in order to figure out the breaking point of the military by being spread out, and the limit is three combat command regions (6 all together). So it'd actually turn out bad for the US but the US would make sure to keep the fight on the offensive as much as possible away from the states.

He also didn't mention that we have an absolutely ridiculous amount of intercontinental ballistic missiles that are launched from underground silos and can strike anywhere on the planet. We can't use nukes in the scenario, but ballistic missiles aren't nuclear and they are still absolutely devastating. More than likely it'd be over before any real battle to place. Which is why NO ONE ever wants another major war in the world. Weapons are far too devastating now, too many innocent lives would inevitably be lost. No sense in it at all.
