Pretty simple without actually watching. The further you go back in global history, the worse it would be to live during it. As much as some want you to think these (current times) are the darkest days, it's not even close.

Completely accurate. Recency bias skews our understanding. This is just another reason that history is so important. It gives perspective and lets us see how great we actually have it.

The thing that I don't like about now, is that a handful of People (Global Elites) can determine the outcome of the entire World, when in days past the range of the 'Elites' power was limited.
@robertvirnig638
@robertvirnig638 2 жыл бұрын
For 100s of thousands of years, we lived as hunter-gatherers and I may be wrong but I don't think those times would have been all that bad. Certainly, modern isolated remnants of such people today live reasonably well, at least until they come into contact with modern people. Life would have been reasonably hard but at the same time rather carefree. They didn't have much but didn't know what they didn't have, indeed the concept of personable property was almost nonexistent. The whole concept of social class and elites subjugating most of the population didn't happen until we developed agriculture and started collecting together in large populations. I think life probably got progressively worse until the middle ages and probably has been getting progressively better since the Renaissance with a few short-term exceptions such as the world wars. Of course, there are some localized horrors in any time period, for instance, I would not want to live in North Korea today.

@@robertvirnig638 your 'hunter-gatherers living carefree' thought process hold a rather big flaw though: people with mental and physical disabilities. So it was mainly the average and above average females and males that were living a simple and good life.
@robertvirnig638
@robertvirnig638 2 жыл бұрын
@@hilmilosnowball7740 I pretty much agree with the fact that primitive life would be harder are people with physical disabilities of which there would be many due to their way of life, but archaeology shows that these people were frequently taken care of after injuries that would make them uncontributing members of a tribe. I think many mental disabilities are a result of aspects of modern life so for these life would be better. I would rather live today than then, but I would rather be a hunter-gatherer than live in feudal Europe in the Middle Ages or in Greece around 500 BC with their endless warfare.

My great grandfather was in ww2, and was a map maker, I never knew that he never spoke about his time in service until recently because when I was 7 he had some photo albums that he kept in a safe and showed me the before and after of certain areas in Japan and told me how much it hurt him, and I was so young that I just thought it was normal for a grandfather who was a war veteran who showed me pictures, that he was sorry about the whole situation and sad all around, it wasn't until about a year ago (which was about 20 some years later) that I found out that he never spoke about his experiences with anyone, even his grandchildren, which was my mom and aunt, so when I shared the stories with them they were shocked. I will always love my Grampy and respect his service as well as how he delt with his own trauma. He was the single best man I ever knew in my life and I can't thank him enough for his service and life lessons ❤❤❤❤

By some estimates, the diseases spread by the first European explorers to the new world wiped out better than 90% of the North American native population. While horrifying, the repercussions of this are fascinating. There is evidence of entire cities having been deserted over the course of a decade or so, the surviving remnants of the population transitioning to a nomadic lifestyle on the great plains for example.

It also caused a mini ice age around the World as all of the land the Native Americans had cleared for farming were taken back by nature and they sucked up a ton of CO2 in the process.

@Alexi marchenko I can send you a source but no, the little ice age of the 17th century is said to have been caused by the death of 55 to 60 million natives, its a new study from 2019 from what I read. But of course, there were other mini ice ages, caused for different reasons though.

Plymouth Colony, the first English colony in New England (second permanent English colony after Jamestown) was established on the site of a village that had been inhabited by the Patuxet group of Wampanoag people. The entire town had been wiped out by a plague several years earlier, except for one resident, a man named Tisquantum ("Squanto"). He had been captured and sold into slavery in Spain prior to the plague. He made his way back home years later after escaping, only to find his entire community dead.

@@erinnswan7063 Not sure what they thought, other than they observed that the Pilgrims had muskets, durable goods (pots and pans, woven clothing, farm implements). The rationale was clearly that it would be better to be allies of these people than enemies. That calculus did pay off for the Pokanokets and the Pilgrims, if only for the first 50 years or so.

Researchers say there were two eruptions-one in 535 or 536 in the northern hemisphere and another in 539 or 540 in the tropics-that kept temperatures in the north cool until 550.

When Krakatoa erupted in Indonesia in 1883 it darkened the sky around the world and caused red sunsets as far away as Europe. It wasn't as powerful as the 536 eruption, at least not in its ability to cause as widespread of a volcanic winter, though it certainly did have some of those effects. It's safe to say then that if the 536 volcano was in Australia, Europe would definitely have been affected by it in some way.

17:22 "...but the aggression came not only from the Nazis. On August 6, 1945 America dropped an atomic bomb on the innocent civilians of Hiroshima..." The makers of this video need to read a history book. The aggressor was Japan, they had ravaged much of South East Asia and in so doing murdered many millions. Much of Japan's industrial work had been moved from large centralized plants to individual homes making it more difficult for the US to interupt production of war materials. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were no different from many other Japanese cities in that regard. Much of Japan had already been subjected to the US fire bombing campaign which, despite the destruction and death, hadn't forced Japan to surrender. It is very important to know that before each and every fire bombing raid pamphlets were dropped on the target city warning residents of the danger they faced unless the evacuated. The same warnings were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki the day before they were bombed. Severe punishments were inflicted upon anyone possessing or even reading an air dropped warning pamphlet. Would it have been awful to be one of those Japanese who experienced the fire bombing raids or an atomic bombing? Of course it would, it would have been hell on earth. That's exactly what the Japanese military inflicted upon many millions across SE Asia and what they allowed their countrymen to endure by not surrendering sooner. Black lives do matter, every life matters. The organization "Black Lives Matter" is run by Marxists who really don't care about all black lives. They only care about the black lives that advance their political goals. BLM has raked in tens of millions of dollars yet none has been spent to help anyone in any black community. One of the founders did buy a multi million dollar house though.

In England a group of US Marines got together and decorated a place call the Old Rectory as a haunted house. The place was said to be haunted already it had a mote around it. They did a really good job frightening all the children and adults who visited. In the evening they had an adults only party. I have a photo of a dog at the entry way. In the developed photo the dog appears to have a human face.

It's ridiculous that he brought up the Native Americans. Every single culture on earth has been conquered by another at some point in history, in the same way. Also, the Natives attacked the settlers just in the same way. It wasn't just a one way street. They did not welcome the new people at all. I can speak this truth because I have Native American great grandmother, so I can say what I want. And this is the truth.

When Hernando deSoto invaded now Southeastern US and murdered, burned, and raped his way across from Florida to Texas native populations experienced 90% mortality rates. Twenty years later the next invaders still found villages with skeletons on blankets and empty and abandoned societies. Hiroshima and Nagasaki actually killed fewer than the firebombings of Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo. Or the British bombing of Dresden. Mortality among native peoples across two centuries as westward expansion occurred in the US had mortality rates from 50% to 75% just because of first contact with diseases for which there were no immunities. Stalin between purges, Holodomar, and Gulags may have murdered 8 million of his own peoples.

To those who don't know, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, both being naval bases, saved many more lives than it took - and not just those of Americans. This event was a benefit to ALL of the Orient with the exception of Japan, which was attempting to expand its territory by conquering the entire area, including the eastern end of Russia, Korea, China, Indochina, and the Islands of Oceania. With these bombings, Japan 🗾 got exactly that for which they were asking. Learn your history. If I were currently in Russia, and it didn't have the nuclear weapons that we know it does, I'd be a fool not to have evacuated the European end as soon as they invaded Ukraine. Yet, these Japanese citizens chose not to evacuate the naval base areas, and large cities.

Hope you both get to feeling better soon. It all depends on where you are in the World whether you thought the times the Orator brought up was that bad or not. For example, the 1st outbreak of the 'Plague' in the UK was 1348-1349...it wasn't an issue for those in South America/North America at that time. Now though with our 'Air Travel', things can spread from distant Countries within a day or two....as well the 'Global Elites' of today wouldn't have such a Worldwide effect during the 1800's. Imagine someone like Mao (1976) being a Global Elite today and putting into effect the the plan to make the Farms go Fallow now (Bill Gates buying up Farmland in the U.S. and is letting it go fallow now!!) or a Global Elite Agenda to 'Depopulate' the Planet to a more Manageable Population (Referring to the 'Georgia Guidestones' - Worldwide Population under 500 Million in perpetuity), or them having the power now to release a Worldwide Bio-Weapon and they have an Antidote that they give it to those they feel are 'Deserving' and ONLY those people. The World can be a lot scarier now than even just a few Hundred Years go, when what people 'Affected' was more limited!! #tiltheend
