I stayed there in February when her body was found. Water was OK in my room on 14th floor. The hotel was actually pretty good for the price of 56 USD per night with breakfast on the mezzanine level of the hotel. Hotel included even complimentary gym on the ground floor. On the day of checking out the LA fire fighters blocked one of the lifts and the investigation was in full swing. I have only found out what was all about about a month later when back in Europe. Its true, it was easy to access the rooftop through the fire escape iron stairs on the hotel front facade. The stair access from the inside was locked down and under the alarm system. But again, the hotel was far away from "horrendous" and in 2013 the problem with homeless people in the vicinity was not even near to the state of the problem LA faces nowadays through out the entire city.

This documentary doesn't mention that her phone was stolen few days before she died. Doesn't interview her hotel room mates either which could shed more light on things. Doesn't entertain a possibility that the 19 day decomposition could erase any signs of trauma (and thats why coroner had hard time determining anything). Doesn't talk much about the editing of the elevator footage and timestamps (even if this was done by the police/media - they should give some details at the very least). Doesnt explain why the police with dogs couldnt find her on the roof despite looking there. It paints us, the people who just want to help as conspiracy theorists, cyber bullies, insensitive and what not... why lump everyone together like this? Instead they interview some youtubers, metal singer and some previous tenants or something, who had nothing to do with her case. I'm grateful that something is being done at all but to me this wasn't very well made, sorry.

A little bit of a backstory: The Cecil hotel was opened back in December 20, 1924 its primary purpose was to be a really budget hotel for people to use back then. The Cecil then had troubles with its name because it was used for killings, murders, sucicides, and more. The Cecil also had serial killers, murders, and so much more inside. Two of the most known for staying at the Cecil hotel was Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker) and Jack Unterweger. The Cecil hotel was known for so many bad crimes and notorious killings that in 2011, the hotel was renamed the Stay On Main. The hotel was divided within 2 hotels in 1 building so the Cecil hotel would be near the top floors (IDK the exact floors) and the Stay on Main would be near the bottom. This would help divide the 2 diffrent looks at the hotel and would help keep the nice look! The hotel was also known for a girl named Elisa Lam which traveled to the Cecil Hotel alone and she had Bipolar issues. The video shows how the water was brown and the pressure was low, the reason behind that was because Elisa somehow got up to the water tank and was inside that is why the maintenance guy said "That is when I found her". I hope that this kinda helped you find out a little more about the Cecil / Stay on Main. Please like this comment and even if this did not help you please still like this took me a long time to type! Thanks :)! IF MY INFORMATION WAS INCORRECT PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY REPLYING TO THIS COMMENT AND I WILL TRY MY BEST TO CORRECT IT THANKS! The secret that Cecil hotel was hiding was that they were housing some creepy ass people on the upper levels above ‘Stay on Main’ (floors 4-6) The showers are communal and everyone shares it down the hall. The hotel is behind this, I swear. Why would you store a person’s belongings into a storage room just because they’re not in their rooms? That’s invading people’s privacy. It makes sense if the hotel staff were behind this because they wouldn’t want the police knowing or tracing anything suspicious. And anyways, how come you would put someone on a floor with no cameras? The lady has been working at the hotel for 10 years, 80 deaths during then, and she still has the guts to put a young adult at risks? Should be ashamed of herself. And also, in the Netflix documentary, she said something about calling her mum first before the police. Like, what’s the reason for that? Also, everyone has been talking about the elevator video cutting out and stuff, so thats another reason. ALSO, if Elisa does have some medical conditions/ health or something, a manager or at least someone should always be accompanying her in case. I feel so bad for the cleaner who had to be the first to see a dead corpse floating in the tanks. May god bless him and to Elisa

The body wasn’t fine, it was in a stage of decomposition, but that’s not the reason the water was brown, when a person dies the muscles relaxes and so saliva starts drooling, the bladder releases the liquids in it, and the intestines release the feces, sorry this is too graphic, I feel so sorry for this couple, and people are saying that they are stupid for drinking discolored water, they were there before the water turned brown, so they meant they used it before, it just how the clips appeared in the documentary made it sound like they drank it after they saw it discolored.

I think more about how to get up to the roof. There's an elevator that only staff can use it but it's not working so the only way to the roof is thru a specific window that only maintenance knows and the manager knows about. The question is how did she know where to go to get onto the top of the hotel. It's nearly impossible. unless she followed an watched a maintenance man doing his job. However, people say she's having a bi-polar episode but if that's the case I would think she would have fallen to her death. I wouldn't think she would have the ability to climb a ladder and know the specific window to use and climb a latter and know how to open the hatch but normally the hatch is pad locked when not being maintained. So, if it's pad locked shut how did she get access to it. I just feel it's just way too much work for someone like her to just go and do by accident and or if she wanted to commit suicide. I watched so many youtubers showing the window and what it took to get to the roof which to me there's no way someone with bi-polar having an episode could navigate thru all that to get to the tanks. I just feel that she might have had a bi-polar episode but someone staying at the hotel must have killed her and stashed the body in the tank. she might have gottend raped... but you would think in the autopsy they would've found something if that happened . Like I said it just doesn't make sense with the current story.

I feel like an employee must have seen her impaired and he must have raped her and then had someone help him move the body up into the roof and into the water tanks because normally anyone that falls into the tanks won't be noticed until maintenance does their sweep. that's what I am thinking because it looks to me that you cannot go to the roof by mistake. Well, it is the most dangerous area in LA, and one of the most dangerous hotels, so it’s not that much of a stretch that she didn’t do this to herself. I have bipolar disorder and I’ve also had someone try to kill me, on the record. It’s not like people with mental illness can’t be crime targets or have actual physical health problems. Someone needs to tell this to the cops and the doctors, too. That actually sounds like maybe schizophrenia and not bipolar at all, to me.

The paranormal “explanations” (like a demon led her to do it) do make this story almost unwatchable, though, I agree.

She was alone and weak and the evil spirit in the hotel( serial killer) especially tormented the weak in the hotel. Her room is the place where the spirit dwelled . She was followed, she tried to run but it followed her even in the elevator. She ran out and climbed to the fire escape outside ,the spirit forced her towards the wall and over to the tank and pulled her inside water until she drowned and died.

And I suppose that's the reason why they messed with the time stamps in the elevator.
