I think you missed the very important fact that that 73-0 game was the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. That was supposed to be the best opposition for that team, and they set a record for a blowout that has stood for over 80 years.

A safety is 2 points. Not sure how many or which ones(I'm sure other comments will provide details) but there have definitely been more Scorigami in the years since this video. It's just a really fun idea Jon Bois invented.

About 11:40 - There were 5 consecutive missed field goals in the Bengals-Packers game today (October 10, 2021) in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter and overtime!

The other thing about the 6-1 score, not only would that conversion safety have to happen but then the team that got that 1pt would have to not score any other points the entire game for them to actually end with just 1 point. It still keeps the 4 point final hopes alive with just a field goal but even then, odds are they score at least a touchdown or 2+ field goals and then you just have a normal looking score.

Fun bit: thanks to recent changes in the college rules, all of the otherwise impossible scores are now theoretically possible (not in the NFL, only in college) except for 1-1 (college rules don't allow ties) and 7-1. College overtime rules are different than the NFL: if a game is tied at the end of regulation, each team gets one possession starting 25 yards from the end zone. If the game is still tied after that, they repeat the process for a second overtime, but if a touchdown is scored, the team must attempt a 2-point conversion (cannot kick the PAT). If it's still tied, the third and subsequent overtimes are just a 2-point conversion attempt. So if all of regulation and the first two overtimes are scoreless, the following scores are now possible: 1-0 and 2-1 can happen in semi-plausible ways: Team A commits a turnover on their try, but Team B (attempting to run it back) brings the ball backward into their own end zone and is tackled there to score 1 point for Team A. (This is what the clip with the "unusual ruling" showed happening, although after a touchdown during regulation.) Then Team B either makes their 2-point try (to win 2-1) or fails (losing 1-0). 1-0 can also happen in a silly way, the same way 6-1 can: somebody loses 97 yards on their try in the 3rd OT of a scoreless game and gives up 1 point to the defense. I don't know of any instance where a defense has managed that result at all (let alone in OT); the closest I've ever seen was this comedy of errors which turned 2nd and goal from the 6 yard line into 3rd and goal from the *other* 6 yard line: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qK2hgNqrs764p6M.html There's another way to manage 2-1, but it involves a truly ludicrous chain of events: *both* teams have to score 1 point in the same OT round (either both on offense or both on defense), then one would have to score yet another single point in a later round. In the last 30 years, I know of only two instances where an offense has scored a 1-point safety on a try in top-level college football and none where the defense has. This would require one of those to happen on back-to-back plays, and then a third time later with no other scoring (and all of this after a scoreless regulation and first two OTs as well). 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1 all require the same 1-1 start as the hard version of 2-1. 3-1 is easier: one team makes it the next round, the other doesn't. 5-1 is quite difficult again: the first team up would have to make their try, then force a turnover and return it all the way for two more points (particularly unlikely since they could just fall down and win the game). But 4-1 might be the most ludicrous of all, because after the 1-1 start it requires the first team to make their try and then force the other team to lose 97 yards on theirs. 7-1 doesn't work because the only way the 1 can be scored without a chunk of six for the other team (and thus needing a 1 for them to finish the 7) is in the 3rd OT or later, and the most that can be scored in a single OT period from that point on is four (2 on offense and 2 on defense). The "rouge" is a way to score in Canadian football (which is very similar, but not identical, to American). If a kick is not returned from out of the end zone - including a punt or missed field goal - the kicking team scores one point (however, the receiving team gets the ball further out from the end zone than they would in American football). Most of the truly weird numbers are low: 4 is the biggest gap by far, but there are plenty of holes at 2, 5, 8, and 11 as well. Any number above those can be reached by combinations of 7 and 3 alone, though those aren't the "usual" routes to some of the stranger numbers - 18, 25, and 32 mostly come up when a team trails by 11 (say, 21-10) and scores a touchdown, going for two to try to get within 3.

The punter taking a safety was strategic. On any scrimmage kick the defense can try to block it, but they cannot on a safety kick, fair catch kick, or kickoff. A blocked kick that doesn't cross the line of scrimmage can be advanced by either team should they recover the ball. If the blocked kick goes beyond the line of scrimmage before it's recovered only the defense can advance it. Also on the safety kick, they get to do it from their own 20. In these types of cases where there's an intentional safety, the ball would have been kicked from behind the offense's 20 yard line and the team reasonably believed it could afford to give up 2 points & the ball. Intentional safeties are rare, like the fair catch kick. Last successful fair catch kick was in the 1970s. Some have been tried since, but none have been made.

So the field goals made are around 800 because that’s specifically counting the 3 point field goals. Not the point after touchdowns. This happens when the offense doesn’t score, but they’re close enough to go for three instead of the 6 point touch down and 1+ kick

In 1932, they didn’t support teams like they do now. There wasn’t fanbases. So people going to three straight scoreless ties in the 1932 Bears season was pretty strange. The funny thing is, the Bears, despite starting 0-1-3, ended up as NFL champions that year. They finished 6-1-6 (yes, 6 ties), which tied another team for first, and they played a tiebreaker game, which the Bears won. This created the NFL Championship Game, the precursor to the Super Bowl, the following year.

Poked at the scorigami website and it looks like there's some updating... 2015=4 scorigami, 2016=6, 2017=8, 2018=8 (2 odd), 2019=6, 2020=11 (!), 2021 so far=2. 2018 got a 29-29 tie packers vs. vikings, and a 54-51 Rams vs. Chiefs game. Oh, and a 37-5 colts-bills score, so the 5 line got filled with a field goal and a safety. That magic 8 row got populated again in 2017 with 33-8 patriots-raiders, but was just a banal TD+2. All the rest were mid-graph spots.

A rouge in the CFL (Canadian Football League) commonly refers to any of the one point scoreing plays. They involve the ball being kicked into or through the endzone. Ball kicked through the endzone and out of bounds, kicked into the endzone and bouncing out of bounds on the sidelines, returner taking a ball out of bounds in the endzone, returner tackled in the endzone, or returner taking a knee in the endzone.

You confused extra points with field goals. 1146 drives ended with touchdowns and a successful extra point kick. 834 *other* drives ended with successful field goals. The success rate on field goals as a whole is about 85-87%, while it is around 96-97% for 33-yard extra point attempts.

Seahawks fan here and we hear about this every time a new score is achieved. Especially since it’s usually the Hawks score. It’s kind of fun to see these new scores being knocked off.

A 2 point conversion is worth (surprisingly) 2 points. A safety is worth two points also. There is a 1 point safety. It is very rarely called. But a team ending a game with 1 point is possible. It will only happen after the offence has gotten a touchdown & is attempting a 2 point conversion. So . . . Only a 6-1 game is the lowest possible. It is very obscure. If you don't know about it, don't worry. It won't come up in anyone's discussion of the rules. It would be unthinkable for a team to go for a 2 point conversion at the start of a game. And it would be incredulous to try a 2 point conversion at the later stages of a game. So a 1 point Defensive safety would be incredible as the second score of a 6-1 game. As close as I ever saw was in 1970 between Dallas - Cleveland and a 6-2 score. It was an odd game but much more believable than 6-1.

A 1 to 0 score is very possible in Canadian football.

Also, if a non-postseason game goes to overtime, and time expires in overtime without a winner declared, it ends in a tie. Postseason games will continue playing overtimes until a winner is decided, though.

There has never been an official forfeit of an NFL game. There were a few "cancellations" in the early days, but these weren't considered forfeits at the time and didn't go in the books as such. And the NFL also stated that if an NFL team could not field a team due to failing to follow COVID restrictions and policies, then they would be forced to forfeit the game. That hasn't (yet) happened, though, so that's one of the "never been done" dark scorigami arts.

14:03 I don’t think there is a single forfeit in recent nfl history. I may be wrong but I believe it’s just one of those things that happened back in the old days because the league was unimaginably less financially stable than it is now. Many of the oddities of the NFL can be attributed to that very reason. It was just the olden days and weird stuff happened just like in any sport.

There hasn't been a forfeit, although recently the Chiefs and the Patriots played each other and the Chiefs almost didnt get their equipment shipped in time for the game, so that would have resulted in a forfeit, but they got it just in time so it didnt really matter. there has been plenty of cancelled games, whether that's because of natural disasters or other factors.

A field goal and a PAT are not the same thing. A PAT or extra point is kicked after a touchdown and is worth 1 point, a field goal is separate and is obviously 3 points

Your confusion about 300 missed "field goals" is a bit messed up. For clarity, a field goal is not what they call the thing after a touchdown, thats just an extra point kick. A field goal is a 3 point replacement for a touchdown alltogether because they were not able to score a touchdown.
