This song always hits me really hard because I have had at least 1 family member in just about every American War other than Vietnam and only 2 family members that have actually been killed that I know of both in the Civil War fighting for the Confederacy 1 was killed in 1864 and the other was killed in late January of 1865

I'm sorry for your loss. Lost my grandfather a few years ago. He was a Korea veteran. He was a big reason why I joined the Army. I served in Afghanistan and Iraq and I couldn't be prouder to have followed in his footsteps. The thing that devastates me is that he passed before he got to meet his great granddaughter. All my grandparents did, Moms side and Dads.

I was a 2 week married 19 year old when I saw my husband off on a ship for 9 months. Horrible feeling to see that ship slowly pull away from the pier. Then when they came home it is still one of the most amazing sights when that ship slowly comes back and the entire crew is standing at attention in their dress whites around the perimeter of the ship. Still brings tears to my eyes 40 years later

The news of Toby’s passing hit me like a truck. Just got off work working the night shift, and was heading to bed when I heard in the background them announcing his death on the TV. The legend was such a big part of my childhood and it left a pretty big hole in my heart. Come to America, Luke! We will welcome you with open arms!

This song has been my Dads ring tone ever since I got my first cell phone at age 18. He was in Iraq/Afghanistan/Kuwait on his first tour on my 18th, sending an email wishing me a happy birthday and letting me know my gift of my very own phone. He saved his leave for my HS graduation a few months later. He went back for his 2nd tour a few years later along side his little brother, my uncle. He came home in full kidney failure and needing heart surgery due to working and living around black mold throughout that tour. He is 100% healthy today and he will forever be my Hero for giving this country his entire life from age 17 up until he retired early in 2011 to focus on getting healthy for his grandkids. This song will forever warm my heart and Toby Keith will forever be one of the greats ❤

Great Reaction! Thank you for reacting to "American Soldier". I am a 68 yr. old woman who was raised and lived most of my life in Oklahoma. But, I married a Canadian in the mid-70's and lived for several years in the Toronto area. Canada is a beautiful country and Canadians are wonderful people, still there were times when I would get really homesick and my husband figured out the best way to help me get past it was for us to take a drive into downtown Toronto and drive by the U.S. Consulate Bldg. so I could see the American flag! Sometimes he had to drive around the block a couple of times but it ALWAYS helped! You are right about Americans being fiercely proud and very patriotic about our Country! We know that the U.S. is not perfect and we know that a lot of mistakes have been made. But, it's the hope and belief that we can do better and BECOME a "more perfect union" that drives us forward. Sometimes it seems like for every couple of steps forward, we take a step backwards and I appreciate when people from outside the U.S. are able to acknowledge the good. I thoroughly enjoy watching your reaction videos and I look forward to seeing more!

This song came out when my oldest baby boy was in Iraq. I watched my 20 year old baby go off to war as a line medic. He was a blessed one came home at 21 as a changed man. That was 20 years ago. He retired last June as a maintenance test pilot. I come from a long line of veterans my dad and some of his brothers served in WWII and my mom's brother too. My husband was a Marine and his brother retired from the Air Force. So was only fitting one of my boys would join. Was hard.

I've seen this song in person, And a million times on the radio, at home, bars, and this video... yet I'm the one crying this time. 😭😭😭😭 One of my lifelong friends, since the womb, like a brother forever, did 3 tours to the Middle East as a Corpsman. 🧐🎖️ He came back alive about 15 years ago, but mostly on the outside... PTSD was overwhelming and he struggles to live with PTSD and Schizophrenia. His memories from our childhood are gone, and he says he'll call back the next day... says he loves me... but months go by until I call him again. Most don' t come back the same. 😭😔

I'm both proud and hurt by my own patriotism. My dad served in Vietnam and when he came back to the States he was swiftly taken from the airport home by my grandmother. They were successful in leaving without the protesters saying anything to him. He always was quiet about his service. I had to pester him to find out anything about that time. Yet he also instilled a love for the military in me.

I can never get through one of Toby Keith's patriotic songs without turning into an "ugly crying mess". All the men in my family served from WW2 through the Vietnam War, and I couldn't be prouder of their bravery and honorable service. America certainly needs a lot of work in many areas, but I cannot think of any place I would want to live, especially at my age and the times we are in now. I do worry about my grandchildren and their future children, but I guess I will have to hope that things will get better for them and that they will take part in making that change for the better happen. Rest in Heavenly Peace Toby Keith, your work here on Earth is complete...enjoy the rest you so deserve, and thank you for all you have done for the great United States. We are forever grateful to you and bless your grieving family.

7:25 In my immediate family we have always held our American Patriotism close to our hearts. My dad, my two brothers and myself were all in the military at the same time at one point. My mom said that those were some of the hardest years for her because on one hand she couldn’t have been prouder that we were willing to step up but on the other her heart would break and there was a sense of not being able to breathe each time she had to watch one of us fly off to unknown dangers with no clue whether or not that was the last time she be able to hold us in her arms. My poor mom. I appreciate her sacrifice as well.❤

The word "sacrifice" - so many emotions tied to it. We are proud of our American Soldiers! No doubt about it! We gained our independence from England, but basically, we were birthed by England., but Americans still have affection for the UK - at least I do. We just needed to be free! And as Toby says "Freedom don't come free".

My grandpa was in the US Air Force, including ROTC to pay for college, for about 30 years. He served in-country in Vietnam, and my mom was little when he shipped out for that (around 6 or a little older I think). She doesn't remember much from that day, except that her dad left for a long overnight trip and her mom and sister were upset. My grandpa survived, retiring in 1980 as a full Colonel, then spending around 30 more years working as a Veteran's Services Officer for his county. The last year he MC'd the county Veteran's Day event, he'd managed to call in a fly-over (a huge feat for such an inconsequential zone, and not confirmed till basically day-of, so it wasn't in the program). The local paper's write-up didn't include that - so we're pretty sure the reporter showed up early, grabbed a program, and left immediately. He passed in 2017 from cancer - he'd had several types, and some of his issues could be arguably traced to his time in The Service. We all miss him, he was a great leader and loving grandpa/dad/husband.

This is random, but my favorite Toby Keith memory was when I was in high school, 17 or 18, and my parents went to his concert…my mom came home smashed and started yelling from the bottom of the stairs for me to wake up. So, I crawl out of bed and make my way to the top of the stairs, she’s still at the landing, all drunk and excited starts jumping up and down and yelling out the lyrics “brought to you courtesy of the RED, WHITE AND BLUE” and then proceeds to start throwing red, white and blue confetti she collected from the concert out of her pockets and into the air just laughing and laughing 😂 That was 18 years ago, I shared this memory with her just after he passed, she of course has no recollection 😂

If you come illegally just to take and give back nothing, we will reject you or at the very least, resent you. So, even though you aren't here, my friend, you are one of us. 🎉

The soldier on the bus was an amputee. The other guy was looking at the folded sleeve of the jacket.

I will say as a former military spouse for over 20 years, it sucks when you watch you spouse leave on deployment. I also had the honor of watching my son go on deployment also.

I'm American, but I felt like a patriotic Brit when i saw the opening to the London Olympics. So I understand when you say you felt patriotic despite not being American 😂

I've been on the other side of the fence with our young boys, everytime that damn phone would ring (which meant that he was leaving for some mission without knowing how long he'd be gone) so I definately know what it feels like. I've said bye so many times, that now, a Veteran's (of 36 years) wife (together for 48 years), I find it very difficult to say bye without tears. Also, my hubby was in Afghanistan when Toby went there and hubby was on security (as a Military Policeman) but had to leave for an emergency so he never had the chance to meet Toby. We did go, however, to his concert in Canada near our town but again, never had a chance to meet him there. When he sang that song, he changed the lyrics to a Canadian soldier and my hubby stood up and saluted Toby. That got to me. After Toby was done singing it, he turned his guitar over and there was the Canadian flag on the other side. A moment in time, we'll never forget. RIP dear Toby.

Have you done a video on Toby Keith the angry American? He wrote that in 2001 after 911 and after he lost his father earlier that year he was sitting in his father‘s garage and wrote that song in about 20 minutes and it is become one of the most iconic for our military, he did I believe it was 170 USO tour tours for the troops he was a very patriotic man and he deserves all the accolades he’s ever gotten and more in my opinion may he rest in peace, knowing he did a good job for the servicemen hereand around the world

For most of us, we serve/served out of equal parts duty, and fear. Duty to maintain what those who went before us left to our care. And, fear of what very well could happen if we didn't/don't.

There's a hilarious stand-up bit/story about Toby by comedian Rodney Carrington called "Toby Keith Saga". Those two made a movie together, and he talks about it. No one's really reacted to it, but it's hilarious. Some explicit words are used.

Another song that will make you think is Toby Kieth's song My List. He wrote this song after 911. Another Heart breaking beautiful song.

Toby Keith's passing was especially difficult for me and my family. One of the last pictures I have of my brother Sam before he was killed in action was of him with Toby at a USO event in Afghanistan. Rest in Peace Toby and my brother Sam will be happy to see you again on the other side ✝️❤️

WAIT! Have you not heard courtesy of the red white and blue? Toby was a patriot first and foremost he went behind enemy lines over and over to sing and raise the moral of the troops after 9/11 that is what makes Toby Keith a national treasure! You cannot miss the angry American courtesy of the red white and blue. He was told by an officer it was his civic duty to publish it. He facilitated many men reuniting with family in bad times. A MUST listen he was granted an honorary commission by the soldiers for that song

God bless you. America is being tested internally right now. However, the Americans you think about still exist. . . Away from the big urban centers. We are like you, humans trying to raise families and enjoy life that God gave us. I have been following you for a long while. I really enjoy your commentary on the various singers, groups, and your interpretations. I hope you get to visit the USA. Yes visit places you have always heard of. . . but visit “fly over country” (between the east and west coast) to really experience America. Cheers my friend!

I've watched my husband get in that dreaded plane twice (both times to Afghanistan). He lost his closest friend in Afghanistan that second trip and even got shot at, but thankfully, he made it back home safe and sound. But he is forever changed and doesn't talk about it much. He is currently still serving our country - a little bit over 18 years...

If you look closely the soldier on the train lost his right arm (the sleeve is empty) That's why he saluted with his left hand.
