Dead center is usually the deepest part of the field unless the have some funky wall stuff going on

Agreed. The best example is Citizens Bank Park in Philly where the center field wall is straight but it angles away from the plate from right of center to left of center so dead center is 401 feet but just left of center when the wall does a weird zig-zag and then heads back toward the left field foul pole is 409 feet.

Deepst part of the ballpark is usually dead center 400 or so. But the deepest part will always be marked on the wall.

There have been 39 home runs hit over 450 feet this season. None of them have been for or against the Padres. Be impressed that the Padres made the video even on the bad side. Checking, Tatis had one at 446 feet on 2024-06-20, tied for 55th longest of the season. This video seems to be fairly old, as I didn't even see Judge's 2nd longest homer in the video from 2024-05-09. Ohtani's bat crack is something special. Reminds you of Ken Griffey, Jr.'s. Longest HR's by team (first half): 476 LAD Ohtani, Shohei 473 LAA Trout, Mike 473 NYY Judge, Aaron 471 TOR Guerrero Jr., Vladimir 468 KC Witt Jr., Bobby 467 BOS Devers, Rafael 464 AZ Walker, Christian 462 COL McMahon, Ryan 462 PIT Cruz, Oneil 461 ATL Acuña Jr., Ronald 461 HOU Alvarez, Yordan 460 MIA Sánchez, Jesús 454 OAK Langeliers, Shea 452 SF Soler, Jorge 452 TB Siri, Jose 451 NYM Vientos, Mark 450 CIN De La Cruz, Elly 449 CWS Robert Jr., Luis 448 MIL Contreras, William 447 WSH Gallo, Joey 446 CHC Morel, Christopher 446 DET Torkelson, Spencer 446 SD Tatis Jr., Fernando 445 PHI Castellanos, Nick 445 SEA Raleigh, Cal 445 STL Contreras, Willson 443 BAL Cowser, Colton 442 MIN Correa, Carlos 440 CLE Naylor, Josh 437 TEX Taveras, Leody

Happy to see the Phillies well represented. Padres were definitely slighted. Day games vs night games only has marginal effect on attendance -- sometimes in the spring when it''s still cold or during a rare make-up game because of rain. The good teams in major markets draw well all of the time. Day games mostly on Sunday, except for 1 or 2 games. Saturday about 50%. Then most teams have a mid week day game to accommodate travel. Today Phillies/Tigers had a day game in Detroit, but Tigers have a night game tomorrow in Anaheim and Phillies have a night game tomorrow in Philadelphia.

Vladdy Guerrero Jr hit a three run homer for the Jays a couple days ago.. right out of Fenway, past the parkinglot and onto an adjacent building's roof the other day -- 471 feet! longest in his career, and second in Blue Jays (stat cast era) history 😍

Guys there is a couple reasons for a small crowd during the day. If was early in the season, in the Spring school is still in, and is a work day, it is hard for people to get there. Also, it could have been an unscheduled day game. If the first or second game of a series was rained out, they often have a double header the next day, and people were unprepared to go. However, in the summer when school is out, day games have good attendance. Weekend day games are usually well attended.

@@Hornsfan64 Not in Atlanta dude. La, st Louis, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, etc. no cheap seats at these games. There are a lot more too. Teams do have promotions for fan appreciation. You watch some of these dumb reactions and think that MLB is giving away stuff for tickets sells, is a fallacy.

Ha ha ha! Didn't expect this to go the way it did. No Padres. Your reaction was hilarious. When I first started watching I thought, there's no way these English guys are really into baseball, but as I watched more videos it was apparent that you are both huge fans. Especially after watching this video. I also Love that you've added the American "Office." Great channel guys. I hope it continues to grow.

Hey Nick and Damo. So happy to see you boys back on the grind. ⚾⚾⚾ Born and raised in San Diego but grew up a Dodgers fan. Laugh my ass off at you Damo. Some great home runs (btw video doesn't really show just how big some of these guys are Shohei, Eli De la Cruz, A. Judge etc... are huge guys.) But, as a former pitcher I think the worst feeling in baseball is giving up a home run. I remember a little shortstop that I played for a rival high school that had never hit a home run in his life hit two off me in an elimination game. Its been 40 years and those still hurt!! So much so that I really discouraged my son from becoming a pitcher. Good too because kids were tearing up their arms left-right and center in high school during his era. He became a very good golfer lol.. ♥

The longest home run was by Joey Meyer of the Denver Zephyrs (Triple-A) in 1987, 582 ft. Babe Ruth 575 ft in the majors. Dodger's Ohtani's 476 this season so far.

I wanted to clarify about day games. Scheduled day games usually are attended pretty well but if a game is rained out and they just postpone it to the next day those usually aren't attended well because no one knew that game was going to happen.

Ejections and "Superman" catches are particularly fun to watch. But as for ejections, do ones from the 2000s, before challenges. Those were always my favorites. Francona had some really fun ones, as did Earl Weaver. At 8:27 of this vid, the reason there are so few people is it's in Detroit, and the Tigers are well known for being just dreadful. They haven't made the playoffs in over ten years

7:30 just an FYI, rammy-cackled is not a generally used term in American English, or any other English as far as I can determine, outside of its proto-genesis by California baseball broadcasters, particularly of the Padres and A's organizations. I was a little surprised that y'all didn't comment on this during the react, but I am also grateful. This is a sill term and should be disowned, even though it is humourous. Alright, it's silly. It's just too silly. Although... Ok. I like it. You two should adopt rammy-cackle as the official term for a deep shot homerun for this channel for all posterity!

According to David Sampson if you give tickets away people who take them are people with no money and they do not purchase concessions. They actually cost money to have extra staff to check them in and act as security. David Sampson was the former team president of the Marlins for a long time and now works for cbs sports as a sports business analyst

I wonder how long ago this video was made. Padres (& others) may have hit some huge bombs since. Damo, I was in the same boat as you as a Giants fan until the last minute, when he showed two Jorge Soler tape-measure shots. Last week in Chicago (sorry Nick) Patrick Bailey hit one more than halfway up the scoreboard in right field against the Cubs. There was also one that Aaron Judge hit against the Giants in SF that was almost to the last row of the bleachers that wasn't in this video. Whaddya gonna do.

Others might have said so already but the Rangers @ Tigers game where you paused it noting the light crowd. Definitely not unusual given the circumstances that day. It was a Wednesday early in the season in April. Kids are still in school so families cant go for the most part plus adults have work. MLB schedules a lot of day games early in the year due to weather concerns (it can still get really crazy cold at night in cities like Detroit in April). Day games do much better attendance wise come June and beyond due to weather being nicer and the kiddos being out of school.

Baseball fans can be a lot like soccer fans. You get a bad team in a poor state, or say your team just gets bad. “I’ll watch the lowlights tomorrow while I shit.”😂. The fans you see, those of us that go to empty games, are the true fans. Did you know the Patriots existed before Brady? No? Because they weren’t worth a damn mention until what? 2001? 😂. So $9 dollars for a beer or a soda… if you’re not a hardcore fan, you’re not paying all that mess. Like being a West Ham fan or that equivalent. Everybody is at the Man U or Man City game, nobody but the faithful are at the West Ham game 😂.
