These 6 videos in my opinion are by far the best of anything I've seen although I'm biased because I worked at New Street in 88 and see so many old friends and even myself. Its the nearest thing there is to travelling back in time

This when a trip to New Street was well worth it. Lots of real trains to see. It’s just unit after unit now. So sad. Thanks for uploading👍

Possibly one of the most boring big city stations in the UK. Only highlight is the once a day HST

I love the soundtrack of British Rail back in the day, the loud diesels including the iconic HST and the haunting drone of the class 86 and 87s. The variety of proper loco hauled trains and multiple units is great, and don't those new Class 90s look lovely!
@theroybowdencollection98072 жыл бұрын
The 90s did look very smart wehen new! But I confess to some retrospective mixed feelings as I missed what they repalced!

Not so lovely for a young shunter who had to carry the red emergency shackle from one end to the other because they didn't use the buckeyes to begin with, it also relegated the 81's and 85's off passenger services then into oblivion.

My favourite classic vids on KZfaq. This is gold, memories of the BR era I was so mad about as a young kid. The Large logo livery hasn't dated at all.

Fantastic, thank you for sharing this. Reminds me so much of Saturdays at BNS with my late dad. Nice to see 47401 earning a living Lol :).

I have just spent the last few hours watching back to back the six New Street videos. All I can say is WOW. You are to be congratulated. I can't believe the incredible quality of both the picture and sound, bearing in mind how long ago it was recorded. Thank you so much for uploading this. By far and away the bet set of UK railway films on KZfaq. Brought back many good memories of New Street. Now to start the Scottish videos 🤗. Can't wait.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments and I hope you enjoy the two Scottish videos just as much :)

Hello Roy. Guess what I watched this afternoon 😁 The Scottish films. Again, BRILLIANT. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Quite a catch at Haymarket with Rochdale Pioneers on fire. Had a similar experience in late 80s at Southampton Central when a 47 again decided to go up in smoke. I really hope you have more incredible footage to come. Stay Safe. Andy.

47401 was a regular on the Newcastle to Liverpool trans pennine. It was named North Eastern for a while. Superb video . Bringing back so many memories.

If memory serves correctly it was the last 47 to enter service as D1111, perhaps someone could confirm this?

The 85 at 11.15 would have been on the Manchester to Paddington. The 85 being replaced by a 50. The northbound was the same in reverse.

Amazing. You must have had a top of the range video camera back then. I'm thinking a panasonic?
@theroybowdencollection98072 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Actually it wasn't a Panasonic, it was a Sanyo (but a good one!)

@@theroybowdencollection9807 Wow.. Sanyo I remember them. At least I knew it was a Japanese brand. Ha. Roy, did you ever take any footage of the cross city line running from Redditch to Lichfield?

Cranks of today wouldn’t be able to cope with what we did back in the day, just too much real on show. Think the whole 4g network would be taken up at New street alone, let alone Crewe, Preston etc. Outrageous workings

15:50interesting to see a shiny newly repainted power car with a trailer set still in blue & grey; couldn't have been many of them left by that time

Hmm door looks like its on the catch on 47528, ive tried really hard to forget Intercity with those stupid micro numbers, they were awful to read at speed. Lots of lovely 80s style jackets on show too very pleasing to see lol, lovely stuff again sir

Nice to 401 before it was changed back to BR Blue. A firm favourite of the Duff boys. Where is 401 held now? Does it still belong to the 47 society ?

New Street hasn't changed, even after a complete rebuild it's still looks dingy and uninviting today. Look at York, Newcastle, Bristol, Paddington and so many more, light airy places. Birmingham is classed as England 2nd city so why hasn't it got a station to be worthy of the title. Great video though, I used to spend hours there during steam days.
