@Matt19matt193 жыл бұрын
Supermarkets will tend to be the same price across the county. Maybe slightly more expensive in London stores as companies often have different rates per hour for staff working in London stores, so the staff get paid a bit more. But there won't be much difference. You definitely won't feel like you're paying more because your in London. That's only for large chain type stores though.

I enjoyed this so much! I'm American and enjoy seeing the differences and similarities in our grocery stores. I must say, I am surprised by how inexpensive food and drink is there. I keep hearing that London is extremely pricey in everything when your prices, at least in that store are actually, comparable to American budget stores! Sanpo, you are so thoughtful in showing a variety of items with weights and prices in both, UK and US currencies! Yours is now my favorite channel. Please, continue producing these videos! It's the next best thing to being there!

Its funny you being from the US and I am English, I watch the same kind of thing from KZfaq channel in the US doing the shopping its very interesting mainly the products are from the same company's but different packaging, there is on guy I follow in the US who goes around Costco when they have the deals on he saves a lot of money waiting for things to go on sale thats great if you have the time to do that , happy Christmas 🎄 😊
@deannadove35053 жыл бұрын
@@jennybassam5515 Yes, I've noticed the same things. Doritos tortilla chips for example, we have those here in the US too of course but the bag design is totally different and we don't have that flavor. The same with some of the canned soft drinks there in the UK. Also, the weights are different, very interesting. I like seeing UK adverts in the stores as well, quite different from ours. One day soon I'll make it across the pond and wander through some stores in person. Have a very Merry Christmas!

While watching this video I went to Sainsbury's website to see if they ship the US, but sadly, they don't.

While you was checking out where did you put the groceries after you scanned them, do you have to furnish you own bags, does the counter have enough room. We really enjoyed the video.
@RR-kp5ps3 жыл бұрын
You can select "I have my own bag", "x number of bags", or "no bags". Each plastic bag costs a few pennies - they are kept on one side. I recommend that you press "no bags" rather than "I have my own bags" as the staff sometimes come to confirm. Once you had scanned an item (or selected the non-barcoded item on the screen), you have to immediately place it in the bag (if you have one) on the lower surface to the side of the screen. Leave the items there until you had scanned all your items. This surface weighs the items. Finally, you press "finish & pay" and select your method of payment. If you have a voucher or points card, you can select that and scan it before paying (which is when you can redeem your points for a discount if you had collected enough points). Once you had finish paying, a receipt is issued, and you can unload your items. This is basically how you use a self-checkout in the UK. There's usually enough room on the counter - you can pile the items, or the bag stops them from falling off. If you have too many items, you can do another payment, or go to a cashier instead. Tesco has a slightly different system which uses handheld scanners.
Thank you very much.. it was very exciting.. And are there cashiers? Or only yourself you have to pay?

Very interesting, and a pleasant Video outing; however, several of the Price comparisons to here--in the U.S., do Not fully tally. And at 16:40, that Pricing for the Frozen Turkey is totally Laughable. No store from NYC to D.C. would get away with that one; perhaps is so Chi Chi Soho or Upper Westside gourmet grocery in NYC might, but our prices vary rather remarkably broad--dependent on What Region your in, but keep going. Really interesting....thx

@RR-kp5ps3 жыл бұрын
Roughly how much would all these cost where you live? I'm always thinking groceries here in the UK are too expensive, particularly considering that a lot of produce are imported due to the unsuitable climate. I think exchange rates are worth keeping in mind. Just around 12 years ago, £1 = $2+ USD. The items may seem cheaper now while the pound sterling is close to its lowest it has ever been, but the costs could rise any day as the rates are constantly changing.
