Something I've been wanting to do a while, a small compilation of the UK's fastest trains doing what they do best, hit speeds in excess of 100mph! From the tilting Pendolino's of Virgin's West Coast Mainline, to the growling East Coast HST's and continent crossing Class 373 Eurostars, this is a collection of my finest shots of these magnificent pieces of kit going at full pelt through the English countryside from 2013 to 2015.
Apologies for the differing sound and visual quality in some of the shots, in that time I changed cameras.
Locations filmed at include Pewsey, Milton Keynes, Wolverton, Alexandra Palace, Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International, Northwick Park and Princes Risborough.

For everyone asking if the guy walking his dog at 0:33 is trespassing.... no, it is a footpath crossing. You can just make out the crossing deck and the thing holding it in place in the four foot of the right hand track. Perhaps the biggest giveaway is the round "W" sign by the signal, which is a whistle board, instructing train drivers to sound the horn to warn any users of the crossing

Love it, as a Las Vegan, over 2 million of us and zero train service. I have been to Britain often, and trains are part of every trip. Sweet way to ride.

I went to Vegas for Christmas 2017, and as much as I enjoyed it, the fact such a large tourist destination doesn’t have any rail connections is insane from a European perspective.

I'm curious if there's any reason for the differences in the use of train horns between the UK and North America. Is it simply because Brits are more aware of trains and are more likely to be careful? If this was the U.S., most of them would be blasting their horns through these stations.

Aside from the trains two extremely worrying incidents @0:35 a man and his dog trespassing across what is obviously a busy and high speed route and @7:12 track workers seemingly oblivious to the high speed 300 odd tons less than 4 feet away from them!!

0:35 is not trespassing. It's a public footpath crossing. That's why there is the sign with a "W" on, it is a whistle board which instructs the train drivers to sound the horn to warn any crossing users

I believe the eurostars do 140mph and all the others are allowed up to 125. There might have been a class 87 in there that can only do 110

Fast? The Dutch and South korea run proper intercity trains at a true high speed. The speed a pendolino and inter city 125 are moving that are classed as high sped would only be classed as a commuter or even suburban train in many other countries.

The redon it went off the track was because it wasn't safe for the train to be on the tracks and that is because every year the track changes. The uerostars wheels were not suitible for the track therefore, it was left on the side of the track

To show off the train speed more clearly another time, you need to try using the natural human eye focal length. Your telephoto settings make the trains look like they nearly stopped. Through a 2000mm telephoto one can amost "stop" a fighter jet in a mach 0.9 aproach.

Several years I was going from one town to the other (cannot remember where and when) in England. There were three different companies running the same route. One company had "regular" trains, one had old cars that looked like something from the 30's/40's, and then there was the familiar red/yellow Virgin trains. Modern, luxury, newspaper etc. Guess which one I choose... 😉😄 Same route, same price...
