Great reaction! I am obsessed with Voctave reactions! This was a tribute to the movie scores of John Williams! Jamey Ray (as you mentioned is the arranger) is also the original organizer of the group and is one of the tenors. I have seen them in person and they sound just like they do on the videos! Kate Lott is the blond soprano 1! Her range is phenomenal. Trivia with the name V (Roman numeral 5) and octave equals Voctave (as you mentioned the 5 octave range they have and is how they got their name) They have soooo many great ones! Disney Princess Medley shows off all of the ladies! Their You Will Be found from Dear Evan Hansen is great and also features a virtual choir and was recorded during the pandemic. Someone Like You featuring Jody McBrayer and the Disney Love Medley featuring Kirstin Maldonado (from PTX) and Jeremy Michael Lewis (her former fiance several years ago) are both just a WALLS of sound. The Disney 90s TV Medley and The Trolley Song (from Meet me in St. Louis) are just super fun songs to watch as well. If you don't mind listening to Christmas music other than at Christmas, Mary Did you know feat Mark Lowry (the lyric writer), O Come All Ye Faithful, and one of their new ones Where are you Christmas will all make you flabbergasted. They love working together. Jamey writes the arrangements to each person not necessarily their vocal part it it is perfection. Seriously, you can't go wrong with any of their songs!

The wall of sound they create is 2nd to none. I'm not sure how anyone can listen to them and not have the hairs all over their body standing in ovation. But Kate and her high soprano is to die for. She's a stand out for me.

As great as Pentatonix and Home Free are, you have now entered the rarified air of the virtuosos, of a Capella music. Go to their KZfaq channel and pick out anything you like. You can't go wrong, Great reaction, and it was amazing to watch your expressions of disbelief.

Hi again. Yes, to answer your question about what is on their sheets. They have musical scores (with specific notes and nuances) and lyrics. The sounds or lyrics the arranger wrote is very specific to express the desired emotion and energy. For example, a Oouh sound is soft versus and Ah sound that has more brightness and power. Some other sounds will mimic musical instruments in their attack and brightness like the Pa pa pa imitating the bright attack staccato notes of a trumpet or the Ba ba ba bum imitating the drum tempo. Every note and sound is planned and intentional, the same as an instrumental arrangement, the reason why you use brass instead of violins, etc. Isn’t Voctave just amazing! I always get emotional at Jurassic Park. Every time. Hope this answers your question. 🤗

I like the way you guys put 'First Time Listening' you really mean it. Many reactors will use that phrase but mean it is the 'First Time' listening to the song, not the group. It is sort of a click bait way to give the impression of 'First Time' for the group which they have actually heard many times. Many of the Fan Boys of the group will click the video just for that. It may sound like I'm being harsh . . . I'm not. I love Voctave. But they are a glorified sound stage singers. They are a very well educated group (all have at least a BA in music), and they are all excellent singers. The arrangements are done in surprising ways many times. You will find out about the arranger as you go further into Voctave. Of all the a Capella groups they coordinate with other groups well. Inviting others to sing or lending out their singers for cameos. Which I'm sure is one of their projects anyway. Not that Voctave lends out talent. It is such a large group (11 for most of their history) it also get a little more into a choir. But an excellent choir with highlighted voices in most selections. This video is more of a homogenous selection with few voices highlighted. I'm sure others will tell you about the group including all the names. So I will leave that for others. Edit: No . . . This isn't the best they have ever done IMHO. 'Disney Love Melody' with Kirstie from Pentatonix. 'Disney Princess Melody' there is the Disney association or else they could have never done all these movie clips. I think one of their best is 'You Will Be Found' with about 1500 member virtual choir.

If you want to hear more beautiful singing, as opposed to mostly sounds in this video, I strongly suggest the Disney Princess Medley. You will hear some of the ladies in solo leads of Disney princess songs, beautifully sung. You will also hear the high soprano, Kate Lott, go even higher than she does in this video. The rumor is that she can entertain airline passengers in flight without herself ever leaving the ground. Keep reviewing and I'll keep watching.

Lol) Anyway, I am a singer, pianist, musical director of minor projects, vocal coach... I love music, what it does for our soul, our capacity of expression. I love creativity, originality, smart arrangements and sensitive performances. A Cappella is such an amazing reminder of the power of the original instrument. The singers of Voctave are real pros and share this passion. What an amazing way to pay tribute to Mr John Williams. If this was not my suggestion, I have one for you. I’m Canadian so here is one of ours worth discovering. Walk Off The Earth is a group with tons of creativity and talent that does fun covers and originals. It’s all good but I really love these two covers: I Can’t Feel My Face from The Weekend and Shape Of Your Body from, of course, Ed Sheeran. I enjoy your reaction videos. Katie Lott is to top soprano. Some of these singers hail from barbershop which is why their blend is so good. All these songs were written by John Williams. The music is probably written out as bop bop which makes it extremely difficult to sing. That's why they are so good!!!

I hadn't heard this before, in fact this is my first listen to the group. I know I'm a Pentaholic, and also like Home Free, but a capella is just one genre of music that I listen to so I don't tend to search out other a capella groups. Definitely a banger, this one. I do think this leans very 'choir-y', and impressed me for different reasons than a smaller group would. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, just that PTX and Home Free impress as they get so much sound from such a small number of people. This group impresses just as much, but it 'feels' different. I don't think I'm making any sense, but I know what I mean, even if no-one else does 🤣🤣🤣 Agree with the scores completely, and look forward to discovering more from this group as and when you react to them!

She sings the instruments as well as lyrics. To be fair, her videos are not live, just still pictures. Most songs are too laid-back and not energetic enough for the channel. I like her King Crimson (Bill Bruford's eras) covers a lot, but I am a KC nut.
