As a South Carolina fan, Iowa and Clark still scare me. She beat us last year by herself and she could definitely do it again. South Carolina is the only undefeated team in the country and still a prohibitive favorite to win the championship. It's a very deep team with scorers outside, mid-range and under the basket. But Carolina really doesn't have a single transformative player like Clark or Connecticut's Page Bueckers. We have only one player who can create her own shot, Fulwiley, and she's still just a Freshman. But they probably need her on the court to win it all. Unless the team really plays up to their potential like when they beat North Carolina by 40 earlier in the tournament. The last two games, however, they have been a mess, and very lucky to win.
@PatrickORourke-yz3xn3 ай бұрын
Thanks for this - I'm a Hawkeye. Nobody matches up well with SC's lineup, and like you say, the ability of a transformative player on a good team is the wild card for Iowa. And during the final minutes of that game, with LSU leading by 15, LSU Star Trash Talker, Angel Reese, got up in Caitlin Clarks face and pointed at her 'ring' finger and also did the famous John Cena "I cant see you" hand gesture at Caitlin. Clark did not reacto to Reese and tried to walk away, but Reese, being the Low Character Human she is, jumped back in front of Caitlin several times and continued with the 'in your face' hand gestures... This created alot of the extra drama and interest in this rematch.

More complete meaning what? Better shooter? Better passer? Better ball handler? Better game manager? Better leader? I have to disagree as there are no metrics that help when you have athletes in completely different situations both outperforming by fairly wide margins.

@@PatrickORourke-yz3xn well for one, paige is a significantly better defender and finisher, there's not really arguing those 2 things.
@PatrickORourke-yz3xn3 ай бұрын
@@darnell-mooney I disagree. There is one end game for offensive possessions, points. What metric allows you to say there is no arguing about finishing an offensive possession with a score? I can provide several metrics demonstrating a very high volume and comparable efficiency in this regard. Your use of "significantly" in either case, and suggesting there is no argument without evidence is simply bias talk with no support besides your belief. With these two, you just have to have data? The defense is indeed more situational with CC and Paige applies more here. I do remember Paige from High-School and have watched both for a long time. Like you say, both can control play. I appreciate your opinion, but that's all it is. I just see two completely different elite players that, if you do compare, it has to be metrics.

Angel Reese is good but she really has to work on her handle & transition game to get into the WNBA and actually play very much IMO. Everyone knows her name, but Flau'jae Johnson (only a sophomore w/a perfect looking jumper) was clearly LSU's best player w/the best handle and most athletic; her layup 4 halftime was the most athletic play of the game,, even though Clark went crazy . LSU's PG got worked by everyone she guarded. But it might not have mattered - although Reese did get hurt, so that sucks. Many LSU top players were transfers from other colleges. None of Iowas best players are transfers and are original to their school. LSU is thought of as a sports factory with low academics for this reason, it’s also a reason a lot of Americans don’t have a lot of respect for LSU

LSU is a very black school in a state that is a culture shock in terms of culture and lifestyles. Even Midwest rednecks would be shocked at life in the country of LA... so I think we know the real reason why. Why do you think Joe Burrow is so loved?

She won't go this year. She knows she'd be exposed by the pro bigs. She's not going too be a lost in the pros & her outside game sucks.

While they both are good at what they do comparing Reese to Clark is weird.. Reese plays like Draymond Green and Clark plays like Steph Curry.. total different games and skill levels. I'm not trying to knock Reese at all she's just not on the same level unless we're talking about rebounding and getting in other teams heads. Reese is also surrounded by blue chip recruits at LSU while Clark isn't. I hope both of these ladies excel in the WNBA it should be great for the league in general if they can carry their game over.
@tyreek.68153 ай бұрын
We're comparing a Center/PF to a point guard. Lol. It's not a knock at all. There's a reason why there's more greats at PG, SG, and SF, than PF, and Center. You can not compare the two. I will say Reese does has more potential in terms of their games. If Reese works on being more offensively minded then she would be a better ball player than Clark. I will say Reeses IQ is unmatched. She just doesn't care too much about offense so you cant compare them.

People love a rivalry. however contrived, between two very talented players. If they happen to be different colors , you luck into 2x the hype and clicks and viewers, driven by melanin alone. It is what it is. Remember Bird/Magic college finals? Same deal. Both young ladies handled the tournament and everything that comes with it very well.

It makes me laugh bc those racist are in these comments trying to spread misinformation to them lol. But like I was saying it makes me laugh bc Clark and Reese are friends. They have to say it every media interview.

If you tall enough it doesn't even matter. The goal is 10 feet, get someone 6'11 and above and they don't really need to jump out the gym to dunk.

@@areguapiri Now, now don’t try to use a straw man argument. His comment was “Tall not the same as being able to jump”. I challenged his argument that you don’t need to jump if your tall. Now if you have a rebuttal to that reply, then I’ll take you seriously. And how do you know there isn’t a female basketball player that’s 6”11?
