You have to go decently far into the Puget Sound to get to Seattle and even further to Tacoma. All awhile you have to pass by multiple islands and hilltops along the shore that can easily be set up with a missile system for defense against oncoming enemy ships. There are old forts found in these exact spots to protect against this very scenario. You have one of the largest Naval bases in the country protecting this area. The submarine force here carry about 1/3 of the U.S.'s entire actively deployed nukes (about 720 nukes). The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier with it's carrier strike group are based in this region. You have multiple Naval Air Stations in this area protecting the region. To top it off you have one of the largest Army bases where the 1st Special Forces are stationed combined with an Air Force base on the southern part of the Puget Sound area. The geography in this area gives a huge advantage to the U.S.. You have a very forested and mountainous terrain and fighting against the U.S. who know this area intimately. So tell me again how invading and taking over the Seattle/Tacoma deep water ports will work? You have to fight a large military, veterans, pissed off locals having trouble getting their coffee because of an invader, terrain and likely all while in the rain. If they try, just remember, we're just a push of a button away to launch 720 nukes each capable of destroying a city and millions of people. Again, this is just from the military already there without reinforcements. Hope it never happens

Just for folks reference: The US not only has multiple satellite layers for intelligence collection purposes, there are also multiple aircraft platforms that fly nearly continuously collecting intelligence as well… and also high altitude unmanned aerial aircraft platforms. The U.S. and Canada also both operate NORAD which detect any airborne air assets that don’t belong to the U.S., Canada or Mexico. Mexico, the U.S. and Canada also have mutual aid agreements for the protection of the entire North American continent… for which financial protections and benefits are provided for. From a logistics standpoint alone, any invading force would be ground to a halt in short order. Invading forces would soon run short of food & fuel, mostly fuel, and would then run into a major quagmire with State National Guard units as well as the 150 Million or so armed American citizens. In short, anyone thinking they can just “walk into” the U.S., would find a rather rude wake up call before they got within 15 miles of our borders.

The US military wouldn't even need to activate the national guard. The amount of citizens with weapons in the US would cause so much havoc any invader would be lucky to get 50 miles inland.

My dad started target practice with my brother and me i think i was around 7. I have a great nephew that has been hunting since he was 5 or 6. Took down his first deer (buck) at 6 or 7. Each state has it's own military as well. Any invasion would have to deal with each state's national guard. On the east coast you can't drive more than a couple hours without passing a military base then you have to go through the Appalachian mountains some of the twisted and curvy mountains in the us crossing various large rivers/swamps. West cost is more cliff than flat Beach then have to go up multiple massive mountain ranges and across a desert to begin getting to the rest of the country. Most of the west coast is supersets by various bridges over steep canyons and water if any route was blocked or damaged it would probably add on weeks or months for the advancement

We couldn’t bring heavy equipment in so it was rifles, handguns, and flamethrowers but we knew the terrain so well and the Japanese were either captured, killed, or forced to retreat.

They left out the whole Mexican American war, thing, the major details that led to it, Texas wanted help in this, as they were a territory, the US government didn’t help them, so Texas seceded, then we declared war on Texas, but Mexico kept invading Texas, which we seen as ours, even though they declared their independence as we didn’t help them, the Alamo happened, the. The us government intervened and guess who smashed Mexico down under our boot heels. The mighty USMC, and took their capitol, hence in The Marine Corps hymn “from the halls of montezuma” also during that campaign where the “blood stripe” on our dress blue uniforms comes from the battle of Chapultepec, they were earned in blood. They also left out at the battle of Baton Rouge in the war of 1812, US Marines were instrumental and the only actual military force in any numbers there, yes lots of local, including former slaves, and ones who got their freedom from that fight, they all fought hard and did amazing. And yeah, we smashed the Brit’s flat in that fight. Leadership, tactics helped, but just the crazy level of fight is what won the day, everything else just made it better.

And, like myself, there are a considerable number of well trained veterans. I was a combat engineer, which is land mine warfare and demolitions... There is a ton of military experience in our civilian population.

With the satellite / radar / SOSUS and other intell methods at our disposal, ANY build up of forces would be known well in advance. NO other country or for that matter any combination of any 20 country's have the required transport capability to bring the forces required to mount such an invasion. Lastly, weather by ship or plane, with all the US air bases around the world and the US Navy at sea, GOOD LUCK and bring a lot of life boats when you reach mid-ocean.

We don't go to war to train our troops, it just happens. I served in the mid to late 80s, a kinda peaceful time. Half of my drill instructors in basic were Vietnam vets. Europe in the late eighties was a terrorism nightmare. Even off duty you had to pay attention. Some middle east but mostly lefties.

My grandpa was part of the force that retook atu, I’m half Alaskan native, he and my moms and uncles on their side all born in Sitka, Alaska and 100% Alaskan native, my grandpa went on to serve the rest of WWII, then in Korea, and one tour in Vietnam, early on, before being retired due to medical and age reasons as an E-9.
