Yeah, I've only come across Josh and Ollie recently, but I immediately found the combination of a more 'straight man' Josh with the funny Ollie to be brilliant. And, like you say, Ollie's sort of goofiness and humor is very disarming and immediately sets a friendly atmosphere and even though Ollie plays the goof, underneath, I think he's a pretty smart, clever person. Not to say Josh isn't, but Josh is much more straightforward with his approach? Regardless, they do make for a great combo for sure. And, like you said also, he does his research.

While Josh is more highlighted in Korean Englishman, Ollie truly shines in JOLLY. So much work into researching the guests and taking into consideration good questions and having flow throughout the entire interview makes the synergy so well! I teared up during Danny's story about the kermit frog and his mom and the story about working with his son directing his film. So blessed we get both channels!

Agree! It’s such a sign of respect, too, when he asks questions he could only know through research. Especially with celebs, who are used to junkets and the same 10 questions about their life/work, it must be so refreshing to hear someone asking genuine, thought-out questions.

This man is eighty years old, and survived cancer and a stroke, after a rough start to life. Incredible. He hasn't aged in thirty years, except to look happier. Had the pleasure of meeting him in LA years ago, he doesn't act like he's famous at all. Just a kind man. There's a reason he's a treasure to Angelinos.

And the only way that you can work at one of his restaurants is to have a criminal record. He goes and looks for people like two-time offenders, the people that are at risk of going down the road that he went down. He's not only turning his life around he's making sure that the generation that comes after him has a mentor in someone to look up to as opposed to falling through the cracks.

I can't remember where I heard this but he was raised with his cousins (all girls) and loved fantasy and make believe, and his dad took him away because he didn't want a "sissy" as a son. There was a story of the whole family sharing a holiday meal while Danny was locked in the car outside. Utterly horrific, for him to be so sunny and happy after that kind of childhood (and the gritty aftermath) is a real achievement.

@Ya_moms

@@Michael-kf7gm I disagree with the claim that he's been disingenuous and disengaged. I think Josh often has a lot more comfortability in food and culture. Ollie definitely has a greater talent for relationships (as in if Josh is average to above average in conversation skills, Ollie is gifted). This video, like many of their interviews, was "led" by Ollie because of that. As for distracted, if you pay attention to the Korean Englishman channel, you'd know that he's got a child on the way, he's been doing many trips to Korea for his first (and more successful, since you want to yap bout their brand) channel, and a member of the team lost their house to a fire. I'm unaware of the person's role but depending on their level in the production process, slowing operations while they stabilize their situation seems entirely reasonable. And most importantly, Josh and Ollie are partners on both this channel and KE, how on Earth do you think Ollie's going to kick Josh from an equal relationship? I haven't even seen anything damaging to their brand, what damage do you see (other than you being butthurt over nonexistent problems)?
@Ya_moms
@Ya_moms 20 күн бұрын
@@Michael-kf7gm I sincerely hope that you grow as a person and learn that pregnancy aren't entirely the mother's matter. If she has complications that affects Josh because he loves her. If the baby has complications that affects Josh because he loves his child. To imply that he should abandon his family in her times of need because you want more frequent uploads is absolutely selfish and shameful.

He is iconic, and has come so far from his days in San Quentin, a hip, skip and a jump across the Golden Gate Bridge, near where I live. In San Francisco, we go to the Mission District to get our wonderful, authentic, Mexican, El Salvadoran, Nicaraguan, Peruvian and Chilean food. But, we’d kill to have Danny open a restaurant or take out here in SF. Please use your Jolly influence to make it happen. This was a wonderful episode to watch. Thank you.

I've loved Danny Trejo since the beginning of his film career and I had the pleasure of meeting him in fact at JFK airport before he "hit it big" in the movies. It was right before From Dusk till Dawn came out if I remember the timing right. He was so nice and just like in the video here - loved telling stories. He told me a story of when he was in prison and just, I could listen to him for hours. I'm so happy he's still going strong (as Ollie said a literal serial survivor!) and doing so well for the Taco restaurants. Also, props to Ollie for being awesome in this video. Wow the level of dedication and research Ollie puts in for every person and content in their videos is one of the main reasons why this channel is so successful. He reads Danny Trejo's memoir in preparation for the video and has all these questions for the guests that really show them that he's interested in them and what they're doing.
