My wife and I travelled from Canada down to NYC for a two night stay in the middle of the week... SPECIFICALLY to catch Tim Minchin performing! We still agree that it's probably one of the top 5 greatest moments of our lives

i was baptised at 14 in the Esther Southern Baptist Church in Esther, MO. Tim helped me a lot with setting down my religion. (Just my story no one else's.) He also wrote the Matilda Musical.

Yes! Have been waiting for you to react to Tim Minchin. "Prejudice" is always my recommendation for those new to him, although "Storm" is also amazing (who doesn't love a good 9-minute beat poem?).

@@sandgroperwookiee65 the first time he reacted to it he claimed or thought that it was pushed to him because he was deeply melonated. He said he considered it a set-up. The second time he watched it on the music channel was a more normal reaction.

Brilliant! You don't need a book to be a good human! Tim is funny and intelligent and sure can play piano! You can be sure if Tim says it is in the book it is! Check out his Thankyou God, full version. It is along the same lines and even more amazing.

I agree with everyone about watching more Tim Minchin! I love all his music, and have recently discovered his newer stuff. It's way more serious, but he's just brilliant. "The aeroplane" "I'll take lonely tonight" "The absence of you" And of course, "come home cardinal Pell."

Not mine any more. I have trouble reading small fonts these days, so I've been reading e-readers for nigh on 20 years. Trouble is, none of my friends and family know about anything but Amazon. I've never had a Kindle and I never will, so I told em all to skip pressies. :)

For sure anyone who thinks he can tickle the ivories from watching this is in for treat with Dark Side, and yes the awesome version is definitive. Agree with all, but in a restricted list I'd swap out the last two for the extended version of Storm, and Rock n Roll Nerd.

I give gifts as a way of sharing of myself with the person. Since I love books, I tend to give books. More broadly, I like to share experiences, so I will share a movie or TV show, I’ll share a play, or a festival. But stories are a big part of that.

The drowning of the cats is a metaphor for the flood - where god decided that people were misbehaving and the only response was to drown them all. The good book says it's good - leaving out the mechanics of how the population was built back up afterwards from only one family of survivors...

Great react! I'd recommend taking a look at Tim's "Thank You God", which details his encounter with someone from an evangelical/faith healing church. (Also: re your comment on books as gifts.. I've lived in UK, US and now Australia - and it is definitely more common in UK/Australia from my experience.)

Books are a common gift in my family and friends because they are all readers! That is changing now though with kindle and the like. None the less, most still prefer the feel and convenience of a good. Book.

One of my best friends sends me a cookbook (usually bread-related cause she loves baking and I like making things like pizza, lol) every year for either my bday or christmas, lol. My sister in law has also given me a book every so often, usually a sci-fi novel.

I think the point of the story about the kittens was that by reading the bible you'll find that drowning the misbehaving kittens you are doing the right thing, because it's the same thing God does in the story of Noah's ark.

It's amazing to me that people don't see religion for what it is which is cultural window dressing. Just because you are born in India it doesn't mean that you have to be Hindu in the same way that being born in the USA doesn't mean that you have to be Christian. Lets be honest most people just go with the flow, are a product of their environment and have no interest in actual truth. It's all about being part of the in group. Religion is basically peer pressure applied since birth...if nobody was allowed to teach religion until a persons brain was developed it would be far less popular. Got to get them while they are young!

Well said. Every child is bourn an atheist. If you believe the bible if a child dies shortly after being bourn it go's to strait to hell. Ironically an atheist can be a good person all there lives and still go to hell. But someone like Adolf Hitler an evil mass murderer only has to say he believes in Christ and he go's strait to heaven!

Would really like to hear you listen to some more Joni Mitchell. Both Sides Now, Blue or A Case of You are all great ones. I prefer her version of Both Sides Now when she's older (2000 live performance is good video), it's really interesting to listen to the changes between it and her singing it when young.
