It reminds me of the people I personally know who have become "Life Coaches." I wouldn't trust them to watch my hamster let alone guide my decisions.

It is so laughable to me that these self help readers look at us fiction readers and think that their reading is superior then us. Their self help books will have the same "lessons" and "strategies" repeated in at least 20 books and they gobble it up without changing any of their habits while fictional books have changed my wordview and improved my life in ways that can't even be quantified!

which self help books do you value? mine are... release your brakes -james newman, as a man thinketh, the magic of thinking big, and how to get rich by felix denis....oh and not to forget ...the four agreements by don miguel ruiz by the way ..the above books have helped me, realise how i am stuck in my comfort zone, the importance of goal setting, seeing things from other peoples point of view and being more empathic with my attitudes, having a more positive outlook and seeing the positives rather than gravitating to the negatives. being careful with my speech and or gossip, not taking things too personally , not assuming as much as i do ... and more than anything, these books have emphasised the power of belief, belief in yourself, and this can be enhanced by thinking about the positive things you have done, rather than beating myself up about the negative things.... so from my point of view, there are some good self help books out there.

I'm "like" - 7 minutes into this and I'm thinking ; maybe a Watson level AI could read 10,000 self help books and then author it's own attempt at a self help book... I have no doubt that such a distillation will be manifestly disappointing; said AI should further condense it's generated prose to no more than 33 pages. Given that ALL self help books are frustratingly padded*. ____________________________________________________________________________ * With the exception of "Codependency for Dummies" which had format issues with the "Dummy" required format, but otherwise a good "Work" book to actually challenge an individual to actual work through , so that one can boast "But... I DID the work " 😆.

Has there ever been a self help book that has in some small way "changed your life"?

When the only sources of books readily available to the general public were physical bookshops I used to spend hours reading the back of books. Folks used to think I had read the books because I can / could recall the blurb (written by a publicist) Does that count as reading the book? By a Bro-Watch video maker standards I think it does. I chose my books and discard many potential books without purchase.

Those of us who don't really understand DudeBro, would you do a video or a series that covers their common themes, cliches, why is DudeBro is bad, and signs of DudeBro in it's many forms. Maybe list some DudeBro books and KZfaqrs. Also what is the difference between self-help and DudeBro? Is it because it's men primarily addressing men?

I think Steve’s previous video called the seven sins of dudebro lit will help with some of your questions. If you still have more questions you can always email him too.

Referring to this ? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icWGZ6aVtZzFfHU.html @Steve Donoghue ~ Personally didn't find the general approach (broad strokes) to be that bad. The techniques he cites for taking notes and attempting to put things into action (by whatever measure) seemed sound; esp. from my own experiences. His video is not intended to be taken 100% literally or that his "Visual" communications are demonstrative (lol). From having been sent to a British Boarding school I don't flinch in cold showers ? Sooooo ? [ Shrugging shoulders .].

Oh goodness this was a real bro-cringe. I wanted to ask him to rate the hundred books in descending order and explain what 3 things he did from each. And why he thought one of the hallmarks of brazen American marketing--Self Improvement--was a secret vice sounds truly disengenuous. Self-help is practically a pillar of American culture. Dude looks like a fakey.
