After its release I had about a year of listening to The Bridges almost non-stop, and 5 years later it is still a revelation. Something close to a religious experience, if you please, because what is it if not your soul leaving your body to travel to some upper spheres. I'm completely blown away to cloud nine every time. Thank you Steven, thank you Jason, bless you.

Yes, I know he did not get nominated. I simply meant that his entire vocal performance throughout this show should have been enough by itself to justify the nomination. In my opinion, this is the definition of "earning it." I'm still a little bitter about it.

There was something in a desert. There was some place wild and green, And a child in a village I passed through. There are places that I've traveled, And so many things I've seen, And it all fades away but you. I was sliding down a mountain, I was burning in the sun, I was crying with amazement at the view. I was capturing a moment, But when all is said and done, Well, it all fades away but you. It all fades away, it all fades away, It all fades but you. I have sailed across the oceans, Past the cities and the farms, On a neverending quest for something new, And the only things that mattered Were the four days in your arms, 'Cause, it all fades away but you. It all fades away, it all fades away, It all fades away but you. There is one thing that's eternal, That cannot be torn apart, There is one thing that remains forever true. Past the thinking, past the breathing, Past the beating of my heart, It will all fade away but you. It all fades away, it all fades away, It all fades away but you. It all fades away, it all fades away, It all fades away but you. But you. But you. You.

he is not a baritone. he is a tenor with a very rich voice tone and this is not a country song. this is a musical theater song styled to resemble country music. there's a difference.
@kenlauderdale10 жыл бұрын
Eliyahu Kheel I am a theatre professional and a baritone and I am familiar with the difference between Broadway and Country music. My thought was that someone will record this song from the country music world and make it a big hit. It's a beautiful song. Personally he sounds like a baritone to me and he probably is with the possibility of singing in his higher register. But thank you for your unnecessary commentary.
@drewm5208510 жыл бұрын
I don't know what your expertise is... but vocal character is based on timbre, not range. He is most certainly a baritone. Just because he can sing high, that doesn't make him a tenor. It makes him a skilled baritone with control over his instrument.
@eliyahusvocalcoaching10 жыл бұрын
Andrew Mauney i know that vocal character is based on timbre. and his vocal character is slightly more baritone but that doesn't make him a baritone. there are many more things to look at. yes he has a rich tone. but it's not the heavy powerful instrument you'd hear in a baritone or bass. it's more dramatic and soaring like a baritenor, dramatic tenor, or a heldentenor. also he doesn't have the low notes with the command that you would hear any baritone having. as a heldentenor myself i know how it feels to be misjudged to be a baritone for having a powerful rich sound instead of the lyric sound most people are used to hearing in tenors. there are many kinds of tenors. not just lyric tenors. (though those are the most common)
