All season people blamed Brock for his play and the people who watch the tape knew the truth. The niners o line has let down Brock all season and let him down in the biggest moment. When you don't invest in o line apart from left tackle, you lose big games, period.

The fact that Brock survived an entire season of football up to the SB is a miracle and a testament to how good he is. This O line has gotten every other QB injured.
@nanakmccann
@nanakmccann 5 ай бұрын
That’s a bit of a simplistic explanation. The O line didn’t get beat on those plays they got confused by blitz because the blocking scheme was unnecessary tricky. Veteran QB’s like Brady, will often change the protection pre snap. Plus Brock did miss a few easy ones. Brock is definitely good but he wasn’t good enough Sunday.

Purdy Led the league in all QB stats. Pro Bowler. NFC Champion. MVP candidate. Took Mahomes to over-time in the Superbowl. Did all of this playing his first full season. Last pick in the draft. The superBowl is over. Now is not the time to for questions. We can talk about is he "the Guy" later on during the offseason. Right now, if just for a day, people should take a break from asking questions and just acknowledge his accomplishments. Even if you don't think he's the guy.

He's the Guy. If you don't think so, you are either an idiot or a troll. There's no more room for doubt. Could things change? Things always change. The armchair evaluation of guys like Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott seemingly changes on a monthly basis, and they're veterans. Given the entirety of Purdy's career up to this point, he has clear limitations and some flaws, but also superlatives. He's already vastly better than he was in college, and that's with no off-seasons prepping as QB1. If you want to second-guess Purdy, you'll second-guess every QB in the league barring Mahomes. There's no value to such arguments.

If Purdy had even a slightly better O Line, he’d have a ring. The big 3rd down play that should’ve given us the game was the 2 min warning. Unfortunately it was a great defensive play and a quick mistake by multiple people..Purdy/Kittle/Trent/Shanahan. He could’ve hit BA on that quick slant with a turn and throw instantly but he “had to drop back” (which I think is a coaching/player error). He just does a quick turn and hits BA, we pick up the first and they have to burn a TO while we are in FG range and they only had 2. I can blame Kittle for not knowing he has to put his head to the left and see that blitz, but he’s a TE who doesn’t need to be in the backfield to begin with. Trent should’ve seen the blitz and picked the most dangerous who also blocks the location of the route (maybe O Line should study the routes to their side for things like that). Shanahan gets the blame for having Kittle back there and for not coaching him on how to pick up the blitz.

I prefer the Qb Schools analysis. He didn't let anything slide. He highlighted all of the deep shots that BA got open on and Purdy didn't throw the ball his way. He highlighted at least 3 passes, with Purdy in a clean pocket, doesn't throw a deep (would be td to BA or Deebo). Purdy played well but not great. He didn't see a ton of open recivers in from clean pockets. Outside of the first drive his mechanic went to $hit. He was messing up the timing of plays with his footwork and was moving into pressure.

The missed throw to Deebo at 18 min is actually the second read I believe. When Purdy plants his foot, he's looking at Kittle. At first I thought it was a miss on Purdy, even with the bad block but watching it again, it's a darn good play because he gets to his second read with Jones in his face. Pretty sure Kittle is option 1 on that play.

Both teams played hard. Kelce blew up at his coach Reid in the first half. Keep in mind that the Niners spotted the Chiefs seven points with the muffed punt. Pacheco was almost the scapegoat with his second punt. Had he not recovered it, most likely the Niners win. Nine unblocked pressures killed them. Especially on the 3rd and 4 when a first down effectively ending the game.

Burford is a good dude, had a solid first season for us as a 4th rounder out of UTSA, but I dont care what the protection call is at that point, you choose Chandler Jones and trust that whoever is supposed to pick up ANYBODY else will pick them up. To go and combo block a guy whose NOT Chandler Jones there is even worse than when Ray-Ray tried to pick up a punt he knew was muffed. Just brutal mistakes in the biggest game of their lives

@@alfredopr923 if his o line was batter at PASS blocking I personally think he'd do better even without the level of weapons he has. Their Oline is good at run blocking that's why they're ranked middle of pack overall, pass blocking is not great. If you watch Ravens games, Lamar holds the ball forever even before he has to scramble, try it with a stopwatch, I promise you. And I don't expect anyone to be as good as Mahomes, he's the best QB in the league, if not ever so that's not the point of the argument. Nice job Chase. The QBs perspective is spot on. I’m afraid BA’s agent has him geared up for his bag and we won’t be able to overcome the Deebo cap hit. Someone will pay him though, book it. Unfortunately, he won’t have Purdy and he’ll likely be on a second tier team. Going with that bag will be a few headlines at first and Im thinking a descent into obscurity. That last play you showed was more indicative of the main limitation of Brock Purdy in this match - when he sees a rusher coming at him in his face, he can't complete his pass to a wide open receiver - instead he always overthrows him, like he's just throwing the ball away. This was the main reason the 49ers had such a low 3rd down conversion rate in this match, far lower than their regular season. Brock Purdy is a pretty good quarterback, but he's not Patrick Mahomes level, and he can't carry the team on his back, like Mahomes does. Mahomes was 8/8 on their final drive in OT, and had two key runs of the ball. And, before anybody says, Purdy is young and only in his second year, well, Mahomes and Tom Brady and Roger Staubach all won Super Bowls in their second season in the NFL. That's just a different level of talent, which Purdy isn't at.

Maybe he himself isnt the biggest, strongest, fastest, but I havent seen any QB since maybe Brady that utilizes the skills of his teammates better than Purdy. He still won, still the best QB in the league but basically rookie Mr. irrelevant wasn’t far behind. With my elementary football knowledge it seems like the Niners obviously need a better O line. I don’t know who you let go to make that happen, but there has to be some improvement there.

The Chiefs defense was also fantastic this game and deserves credit, for the most part they locked down Deebo and Aiyuk. Time will tell how it all plays out. My only point was to illustrate that basically a rookie who came straight off a serious injury last season went toe to toe with the best QB in the NFL on the biggest stage and did pretty well all things considered, even impressed Spagnuolo. Could he have played better and made those couple of throws, sure? Could special teams not have screwed up twice, or the offensive lineman made the stupid play at the end of the game that would have easily sealed it, sure? He played well enough to make the game a toss up.

the niners are stacked in almost all positions: top RB top defense, top edge rusher, top LB top CB top FB top TE top receivers and an average OL ranked 15 in the league ( not great, not bad OL). The Chiefs OL are ranked 14 by the way. The thing is Purdy seems to need everything around him to make plays, and I have yet to see him be a game changer. You need to evaluate this because once Purdy gets paid 45 mill per year he Will be required to make those around him better since it would be harder to assemble a top roster in every line.
