Purdy's ascent is great for football. He's the anti-Mahomes in terms of prototypical body for a QB, and it's valuable to know that your team can win in a different way. If the Niners win and Purdy plays well, the draft will get that much more interesting for future QBs.
@forty9r9r7

Brock Purdy’s deep pass to Aiyuk was not “overthrown” or bad, the defender cut Aiyuk off from his route long enough to throw him off a stride. Had that not been DPI, Aiyuk catches it cleanly in stride and probably gets a TD on that one. The only reason the Ref picked up the flag is because Aiyuk ended up catching it anyway, other wise it’s DPI and the 49ers are still in the Redzone, same outcome. Purdy does not wilt in the bright lights, uncanny for a 24-year-old, his poise and maturity are insane. I saw fear in $72M Lamar's eyes in the second half of his playoff game and didn't see that in $800K Purdy's eyes.

People talking about WR QB duos totally leave out Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. 110+ TDs, 12,000+ yards, nearly 1000 receptions. Only Young and Rice top them on TDs, but they lead in every other stat. Using SBs as a metric not as accurate given there's a lot more to a team than a WR and QB

It took the entire segment but it was finally said - there was no guarantee the Lions kicker would have made both field goals, or even 1 of 2. These were long field goals in a windy outdoor stadium. The idea that "points were left on the field" is complete conjecture.

When everyone talks about Brock Purdy as being drafted as “Mr. Irrelevant”, they fail to recognize it’s not him. I think the focus should be on the failure of “professional” NFL Scouts. How much money are teams spending on scouts that are regularly wrong.

I disagree with the Minkah Fitzpatrick comparison because that was actually an excellent move for the Steelers. You need a QB in the NFL but you also need several other positions including DBs. Minkah was locked up for a while and is contributing to their ability to win close games with low scores, which is one of the main reasons they have been able to make the playoffs with the QBs they have. Now if they decide Pickett isn't the answer after 2024 they can go get a QB knowing that is definitively the missing hole and they will not waste that QBs first 1-3 years discovering what he needs to succeed.

Are there some statistics that show throwing the ball in the second half is indeed better than running the ball? I wonder why this keeps coming up in recent years: Shannahan infamously did it in the 2019/2022 Super Bowl; Baltimore and Detroit just did it in both the championship games. Like if the whole world knows how best to win, why would these coordinators and head coaches make these mistake?

The main reason why Brock Purdy is better than Patrick Mahomes and might surpass him is because if we take their salary off the table and the Niners offer a straight up one on one trade for Patrick Mahomes, I personally think the Chiefs would do the trade in a heartbeat. Call me crazy if you will but that’s how good Purdy is.
