I Broke my Vlogging Camera (Fujifilm X-T2) back in March it was already out of warranty and didn't have time to take it apart to see if it was fixable until now.

This wasn't my first time taking electronics apart, but it was the first time taking a camera apart. Since it was already "broken" I took little precaution in the handling of the electronics. I don't recommend using the wrong tools for the job, or taking apart your own camera.
Music.

Thank you for the video! I'm about to replace the display cable and thus it is very helpful to see where the screws are located. Glad the fix was easy. Tip: use thread lock (a weak one) in order to prevent screws from loosening. Cheers

Should convert it to an infrared camera while you were at it. That’s why i found your video. Wanting to open my older xt10 to remove the IR filter.

Welp, I’ve always wanted to take apart my camera to see how it works but at the same time, I don’t have the money to buy a new one to replace it if a broke it. Props to you though. Awesome video!

Yeah, I don't recommend it. It's always fun if you have an old, broken piece of technology to peek inside.

Hey, maybe taking it apart an old piece of technology is a good thing and the fix isn’t all the bad and we can fix it ourselves. Some things are best to be taken into our own hands. Also, don’t fix stuff with it being on, it can short circuit but if you’re just putting the housing back on it should be fine. Lol.

I did the EXACT same thing, dropped my X-T2, replaced with X-H1, everything working, but the sensor is messed up on exposure. Wonder if I should jump in and see like you did :). What screwdriver kit did you use?

dropped my XT 10 which had a cheap kit lens on it with a plastic mount.. The lens broke and some of the plastic of the lens base is stuck in the metal lens mount ring on the camera.It looks pretty easy to remove the screws and take the ring out and remove the plastic from the broken lens.. I'm just not sure if there is any electrical parts or is it more involved than it seems..Cant seem to find any videos on taking that party.. Can any one tell me if removing that metal ring is as easy as taking the screws out or is it more involved.. Thanks BTW, the camera survived the fall.. well built

It's been a while since I've taken the camera apart, but if I remember correctly, the lens mount is just a few small screws and one ribbon cable for the lens electronics. If you're careful, you should be able to remove it and get those plastic parts out. Of course, do it at your own risk 😅

How about make new video about repaired camera? I am wondering if top plate is still loose, etc...
@GenkiHagata
@GenkiHagata 5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, since making this video I’ve broken the camera more/again. 😅. In my particular case, the one side that the screw mount plastic broke was always a bit loose. It wasn’t that bad and under normal use wasn’t a problem. Since it was also the strap mount, I wouldn’t have been able to use a strap-not an issue for me as I don’t use camera straps.

Hello, My LCD on XT2 stopped working I opened the camera but the wires are intact, I think LCD screen itself is broken in this case. I want to replace it but dont know where to order it from. Can you please give me any guidance?

Hi Genki, thanks for the video. I actually has the same camera but currently faced a problem in which the top plate of my XT2 has become a little loose. Looks like I can tear it apart with some force. I do recognize that I often used my camera with Godox V1 flash, which is quite heavy for fujifilm's camera. Does it mean I broke some part or is there any quick fix to this? I imagine there's some screw I can try to tighten? I feel like since the camera has been 4 years old this is probable cause? Hope you answer, thanks!

Hi, It has been a long time since I opened this camera. It should not require force to take apart though. if I remember correctly, there are a number of screws hiding under the grip adhesive. once located and removed, you should be able to open it to check if something is damaged.

@@GenkiHagata I'm sorry I made the comment without finishing your video first. After seeing that you screw it open, I do the reverse and tighten every screw you open and now it is tight. Thank you!

Were you able to fix the issue where the top plate was loose, and if so, what did you do?
@GenkiHagata
@GenkiHagata 5 жыл бұрын
One of the anchor points was cracked so there wasn’t much I could do to fix it. Tightening down the other screws helped keep it more secure but not secure enough to put a neck strap on. It would need to be replaced or maybe carefully glued/plastic welded

Warranty shouldn't cover user neglect anyway. It usually just covers flaws from the factory.
