in a class and open you hear "I see what the idea is" or "I see what you're going for here" in world class you hear, "haha, that is awesome guys"

Basically when you get past 97 in score a majority of judges agree that the show is practically perfect. At A and Open class levels the demands/achievement is viewed differently then World Class. Like generally speaking if you watch an A class group with a score of 97+(which I don't think wgi for percussion has ever given out) they achieved a level of success with their show idea and playing ability. Same with Open class as well. Although when it gets to World class generally you get into shows that define the activity itself. A great example is actually in guard. World class is seen as the class the redefines what it means to be perfect or achieve a level of excellence that is considered near perfect. In face most top 5 groups are pushing both of these concepts. So when it comes to finals night and judges tapes instead of just standard ends about what you can improve on with your show its alot of judges enjoying and admiring the level these performers are playing at. It's easy to forget but this activity is insanely challenging and demanding. In a way RCC 2018 show embodies this concept extremely well. Always pushing boundaries to achieve the next level of excellence.

@@t1tan145 And what about the top groups in open who consistently play at a world class level and choose not to go up to world due to the competitiveness of open. Open has way more groups and is a lot more competitive of a class, the same 5 groups make the top 5 in world every year, the same cannot be said for open as they continuously push the envelope on what open class is supposed to be. This is coming from someone who marched open class and made a top 6 at finals, my group was taught by people who only did world class, we only played world class music, our body (atleast the second year i was there) was world class. In fact, my group had been World Class previously.

I personally didn't understand that show at all. the best part of it was the memes people made making fun of it.

@@senor_sensei the show isn't for everyone for sure. The book is full of space, something that personally for me WGI has been lacking for a hot second. I felt like I could connect personally to this show, more than all the other shows I've seen. It felt like there was emotion poured into every single movement of the show, and not a single movement was put in for filler. I can totally understand why you wouldn't like it, but that's my two cents.

@@senor_sensei I mean I personally think Fall was about a person falling in love with someone. Like the sudden burst of emotions you get when you first fall for someone. And the end is the person finally getting with them(the cymbal being pulled is the anxiety of asking someone out and finally doing it). I think Cede is trying to portray someone going through a break up(I.E. giving up on a relationship), the bass drums are the dark thoughts of realizing the relationship might not work, and the push and pull of the Tempo show a person's feelings toward their lover is i guess unstable, thinking that maybe it will work but also maybe it's for the best. The last hit is I guess the big fight that ends the relationship. But the last bass drum part is regret of the break up. And then that leads into Mend I am probably reading to much into it but I think it's fun to think about.

favorite show of all time. I loved rhythm x’s show as well, but i believe broken city show shouldve gotten first, rhythm x stays second, and rcc third.

Tough year to win. RCC was just too clean, and X too hyped. I’d personally switch this show to second, but I wish this show happened at a different year, tough year to win.

why have a guitar? I can not even hear it, everything other instrument drowns it out!

He switched between bass and acoustic guitar throughout the show. When they wanted a certain sound or emotion to come out they had Brian switch.
