Sometimes you catch the strangest things out here on the railroad. I've seen lots of broken knuckles, but never a whole couple sheared off.

It's only coincidental that I watched this video and I have to say the narration made it interesting. I didn't know railway traffic was just as complicated, if not more than automotive traffic. I live in South Tampa near MacDill AFB and the train running to/from Port Tampa is literally a handful of cars at a time on the weekdays.

Lots of fast mechanical bells on the S line that day! Wow, you never hear fast bells on modern engines anymore. Great catches! And as for the ripped out drawbar... well, that's a fender bender. Happens all the time on this line, as I understand due to long consists and lots of consistently changing terrain. Usually just the knuckle though... oof, not this time!

Great video sir!! Nice to see the drone back in the air. ;) I'm sure some of the crews were getting short on their hours of service by the time things started running again. Anything can go wrong on the railroad. One night last fall I helped Q294 fix a ruptured air hose. Used my gator to go back and forth to the loco. Conductor said you saved us an hour and a half easy. I'll do anything to help these guys out.

Great video Danny. The two engines on the side at the crash site that you saw at the Citra crash site were a GP40-2 and an AC6000CW, according to the CSX locomotives facebook page. According to their information, the former will be sent to Huntington WV for rebuilding into a GP40-3, no information on the latter AC6000 though.

This is one heck of a catch Danny! What are the chances that an entire coupler would break at a point where the railroad would have to leave cars on a main switch tying up the main line? Close to zero - probably a once in a lifetime shot. Also, you have a good example of how different GE units and EMD units sound at 8:36

Yeah, losing an entire drawbar is rare. And as the vid shows, it can cause big trouble. Changing a knuckle is possible with just one person. Changing a drawbar calls for car dept forces with heavy equipment.

Always a gem Sir...and I could only speculate more or less correctly on the Citra wreck as it was because of your videos we've been watching (as rail fans) for the last recent years with the CSX movements on the S line. I had thought after a Google search on the details of where the Critra mishap occurred that a train hadn't made it through and onto the siding when the approaching one had nothing it could do to stop from hitting it. And it's too bad you couldn't have seen the area of the wreck but it was in some lush area and that looked somewhat remote to get to without a security force in place to keep inquiring minds at bay. Great stuff and glad to see the new DJI unit up and running well for the shots in the last parts... Thanks and always are looking for anything coming out of he DA studios....

Not convinced they could legally stop him taking photos, TBH. If he was in a public place, he has every right to take photos. However, that's not a hill worth dying on: if the cops don't want you to take photos, and it's "just" a train derailment, it's best to not take photos.

Plant City’s station Still has a rail line right next to the station, it’s still connected to one of the double tracks (if I remember from earlier videos) but it’s overgrown; is it even used anymore, and does it hook back up to a main line at any point or is it a dead end (rails pulled up or blocked somehow)?

I think the trackage is still there and goes down to the bone valley phosphate region but I've never seen a phosphate train coming or going from that direction.
