In this video I restore and repair a yellowed Sony Walkman WM-22 from eBay. This Walkman had some problems with the electric supply and the shell was very yellowed, so I try to fix the electric problems and bring back the original grey shine of the shell. Unfortunately, the battery cover is also missing, but I’m going to replace repalce it with a reproduced one from a 3D printer.
Here's the 3D Model: www.thingivers...

Thank you so much, I had just purchased a wm-11 and the spring was missing for the door, so I opened the walkman and found it inside and I ended up being able to correctly put it back into place thanks to this video! I no longer have a flappy walkman haha. Thanks again!!

That was my first cassette walkman. It was my everyday companion, I never abused it but eventually it fell into pieces due to the very extensive use. I still keep the circuit board in a drawer. It's got audio 2 chips, the first is a low noise pre-amp, and the second is the headphone amplifier. The headphone amp was really good quality, and that's the reason why I have kept it.

Done great, but no oiling of gears or cleaning the volume pot and head made it incomplete. I could hear the transport wow and flutter. And this deck can play pretty tight! Plus the transport speed often needs recalibration after a new belt. The motor surely will need a drop of oil in its copper bearing shaft, otherwise this thing will eat batteries. I did the same with my wm22 and oiled everything. Now it plays 6 hours or more on two alkalines. I used simple sowing machine oil on just a few moving parts AND the motor. Which made it also run a lot more silent. The clip is awesome so no complaints!! 🙂🙂

Every time I put the black washer in to keep the plastic piece and spring down, it keeps popping back up. I am wondering why yours is keeping them down but mine is not. Is it too weak? or is the spring too strong. Please any suggestions would help.

@@restoreeverything8654 Hello again, sorry to bother you but I've tried everything and it still won't keep the white spindle and spring down. Can you recommend me a washer or c clip that could, I tried to find a size that would fit but I couldn't. I saw in one video that someone used a 1.2mm clip but had to use superglue to keep it in place. In case that you don't know what I'm talking about, its that black circle thing holding down the white spindle and spring that you see on 6:29 in your video. Again thank you for trying to help me.

Great video. I have a WM-11 (US version) and am having problems unscrewing the 2nd PCB screw in the video (see at 3.56 minutes). The head appears to be OK/intact but I my screwdriver only grips when tightening the screw (clockwise direction). I've tried using minature pliers without success. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this screw out. Thanks in advance.

6:35 As someone who has owned this model, and helped people who owned this model fix it that is NOT HOW THE BELT GOES ON it loops around the smaller cog aswell and in the shot it is *not spinning which should be a pretty clear sign* please if youre going to fix a walkman just google "(walkman model name) belt diagram"
