One of my favorite R.E.M. Songs. Pretty tough to get the exact voicing on this one because of the keyboard on the recorded track. Also, there are very few good videos of the guitarist playing the chords. I do not claim this to be note-for-note. Guitar tuning is open D (DADF#AD). Enjoy!

I'm sure it was someone's dad's guitar... the guitar is from 1955. I acquired the guitar in the summer of '13 and I'm almost positive it was a one-owner guitar. Thanks for watching! Please stay tuned to see me plug some more vintage axes in.

Good to hear, his work is hard to follow because he uses unconventional tuning a lot. I think I lucked out on figuring that one out.

The chorus isn't right. There are 4 chords in the chorus that climb. It doesn't repeat the same two chords.

No. There are four NOTES that climb but that's the cello in the record. The guitar does only those two chords in repeat during the chorus. You can even see Buck playing them on live performances. So this is right.

This is not a lesson, it’s a cover. All you explained was the tuning. It’s not a lesson if you don’t tell us which frets and which strings your fingers are on. Might as well be watching a live recording from REM themselves and figure it out on my own.
