The cruise port is called Red Hook, Brooklyn. The address is 210 Clinton Wharf, Pier 12, 11231.

Good info. I'm going to that port for the first time in November to take the Meraviglia to Bermuda. I'm taking the train to NY. It will be an adventure.

Embark day-We nearly missed our cruise trying to get from our hotel in MANHATTAN to Brooklyn cos the tunnel and bridge were shut down due to some cycle race.... it was a NIGHTMARE ...no drivers wanted to take us. Trying to get to the airport after the cruise was another challenge, too!

We booked an MSC cruise before this price hike. Future cruises will be out of Manhattan with other cruise lines. We just can't justify spending this daily rate on parking.

Suggestions for traveling from JFK or LGA? IS there a GoPort snooze and cruise equiv in NYC? Shuttles, Ubers, etc.

Love the name lol. I generally recommend Uber or Lyft. I’ll look out for go port. Not aware of that in the area. I def don’t recommend cruise shuttles

Thanks for content we are planning a trip to Brooklyn 10 day cruise September 24 $45 a day $450 for parking is crazy. Do you know if any of the hotels offer any discount parking?

Most of them in the area do now. Since the raised the pricing. We stayed at the red hook and it was super close. You can walk from there

Been on MSC out of Fl quite a bit did you not have the White Tent set up for Yacht Club we leave at the end of August for a back to back for 14 Days All the best stay well

Head office in Geneva sent sent out staff to iron out problems incurred on MERAVILIGIA in Florida and boy, can you tell. Huge improvements from NYC now.. So, Forget any past vlogs or reviews moaning. These things are of the past! We had a great time

The yacht club reps are right at the terminal with white gloves on. You can’t miss them

Hi, what does usual wait times for non-Yacht club folks, I watched another video were it took 3 HOURS to get onboard.

It really depends when you arrive and if it starts on time. If there is some issue that delays boarding that would affect everyone even yacht club. In my experience with all the cruise lines I have never seen anyone wait 3 hours to board unless there was a major issue. Even NCL which is very in efficient it’s like an hour tops

@Byte Size Cruises Thanks as I watched another cruise 🛳 vlogger who left Brooklyn, and she shared it was the worst experience. I fortunately been spoiled with Royal Caribbean out of Bayonne

Was hoping to find a hotel in the area to spend a night and leave the car instead of parking at the pier for $45 a night. Driving from Montreal the day before and would rather park and then not worry!

For 4p sailings, isn’t 1:30p the last checkin time since it closes at 2p?

All of the last checkin are 2.5 hours prior to sailing.

You can get one through the cruise line. They are 30 pp

We have a cruise embarking at 3:00pm on the Meraviglia, and our tickets gave us a check-in time of 1:30pm... we aren't Yacht Club or anything, though; how early would you suggest we get there? We don't need to park as we'll be Ubering in.

It’s crazy from 9:30-11. After that you should be good

@@ByteSizeCruises Cool, so it should be fine if we don't get there first thing? We were confused though, as it said check-in closes 2 hours before embarkation. An embarkation time of 3pm would mean check-in closes at 1 which is before our designated check-in time. We just would prefer to not be turned away for some reason haha

@@IanPilgreen yep as long as you are not there early you will be fine. Ship leaves around 5-6 pm so they close the doors around 3:30 generally.

@@IanPilgreen of course. They are just randomly generated. You can certainly go with them and they will not turn you away. It will just be more crowded

Dear Byte Size cruises and viewers. We're visiting NYC again and repeating the Meraviligia and itenary next year and would greatly appreciate my American "cousins " in the USA (my granny was born in (North Eastham Massachusetts in 1915!) have any advice on alternative transport next time from Brooklyn to JFK. Is there any transfer buses we could take when we disembark or shuttle services we could book ahead that are reasonable and reliable. I'm from the U.K. and was on MERAVILIGIA 2 weeks ago. I found the taxi drivers a rip off lot. Was stated 160$ by one, 1st 150$ next guy..Then says No Card only CASH..they don't take cards. Which is bull! We're foreigners we have a card. It's so they can cheat the IRS . So I found myself having to approach a police officer and ask him to help me with these rip off merchants. This helped resolve the cab driver not taking card and he agreed to taking it and using the meter. We needed to go to JFK. We paid 119.50$ by card tip included. Thank goodness thatvNice police officer helped us

That’s insane. You can def arrange transfers through MSC or pre set up Uber or Lyft. I usually schedule those in advance and that way it’s all paid and ready to go

Hi! I live in Brooklyn and will be on the Meraviglia in Dec. if you’re going to JFK, I would suggest calling an UBER or Lyft straight to JFK (most expensive) or Calling an UBER or Lyft to Atlantic Terminal Long Island Rail Road, taking the LIRR train to Jamaica then the AirTrain to JFK. It’s a lot cheaper but will involve more footwork and carrying your luggage on various trains. Depending on when your flight is, it’s doable in two or three hours, say 4 to be safe. Either way Uber or Lyft is the way to go because you’ll see the set price before hand. Good luck and I hope this is helpful!

Hey John, love the content...Gotta let you know. We just found out our sailing would be out of Brooklyn 2-3 weeks ago. Our cruise was scheduled back in September of last year and we always thought, okay, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. It was always New York, NY on the app and on the website as recently as March when we made the final payment. Then, we see an ad saying Brooklyn/MSC and we were like wow, when were they gonna tell us? Our plan was gonna be to stay and park in Weehawken because of the cost. Then take the ferry to NY Cruise Terminal. Now everything has changed and we will drive straight in same day.

MSC hasn't been the best experience so far and I haven't even gotten on the ship yet. App is no good, website is a joke. I shouldn't need to Google kids Pass to find the webpage to sign my kids up. Oh and I just found out the day before the cruise that they switched our rooms. No email, no text, no phone call. Only found that out by chance.

Sorry you are having a rough time. The app is actually pretty good once on the ship. The website is pretty awful. Why was the room switched. Are you in a Bella? Otherwise that should never happen without an upgrade or explanation. You pick your cabin that is your cabin.

@@ByteSizeCruises We, a family of 11 people, booked multiple rooms all together next to each other last July. We're in the staterooms. The reason was because apparently a mass issue with the rooms happened the other day where rooms got switched. I kind of don't buy that excuse. The supervisor is saying the rooms cannot get switched back to the original rooms. So two of us now have rooms on different floors. Since we had issues with taking a picture of ourselves for the check in via the app, I hope there's no issues when getting on board. I've read reviews from 2 years ago where people had the same issue. They said they take a pic of you when you board at the desk. We shall see.
