Күн бұрын

Miriam Weiskind gave up her career as an art director to bake pizza out of her tiny one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, baking pizza was the one thing, aside from running, that gave her hope. She’s been slinging small batch pies out of her apartment since. Miriam loves the art of pizza making and is determined to share it with those who need it most; she sells her pizzas on a donation-based model and offers free pies to front-line workers, those laid off in the pandemic, or for anyone who simply needs it. Her signature pies include classic New York style pizza, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, a Sicilian pie that’s an ode to Michael Jordan, and even a pineapple pizza with a Jewish twist. People can place orders through her Instagram, @thezareport, with wait times spanning 3 weeks to 1 month.

At Christmas in my small town, there is a local restaurant that gives out 1 free slice of pizza on Christmas day. One year my mom and I went to get a slice for lunch. We saw a sad looking cold man downtown pushing a cart, and my mom decided to give her slice to him. Ever since then we grab a slice for lunch and drive it to someone who needs it. Love you mom can't wait for this xmas

It's all cute but if your moms passed away from covid. Think safety for the people you bake for using gloves to prep food is all about respect and safety for others. You're putting your hands on food with no gloves. Secondly, your using nonfood grade sharpie markers with nonfood grade ink and writing on the inside of the top of the box where you know that ink is sitting right above that pizza when you close it. Why not just get food-grade markers and just write on the outside of the box or just the stickers you give. No need to apply toxic ink inside the box. People have double standards for sure your white is all okay you get a pass to do whatever you please in new york. White privilege at its finest if you're doing something do it right!

I watched this film almost a year ago and was so moved by it, I'm watching it again. What's really different about pizza in Korea is that you make your own pizza dough, you age it for a day or two before you take it out, roll it out, and bake it yourself. A lot of pizza restaurants in Korea, a lot of them use factory dough, which is almost perfect circles and tasteless. I admire you guys for getting the basics right, and I'm really jealous of you guys, because you really get to eat ‘real pizza’ every day

I wonder if there’s any way to donate to this woman and help her out opening her pizzeria? The “social” value of what she creates goes far beyond a simple meal. We need more people like her on this planet. Love from Italy

I’ve been thinking about starting my own pizza pop up soon. I also lost my mother this past year. This story was something that gave me so much hope for the future. @@wannabegamer9902 wasn't seeking pity or attention. It happened, it sucked, my grandma and her last remaining sibling died 4 hours apart in January and it sucked. She's working out of her home... People owning a pizza business have to pay both their rent at home, the rent of the restaurant and their employees... Not saying it justifies paying 32 dollars for a single pizza, but you know, apples to oranges.
@2718aj
@2718aj 3 жыл бұрын
Fox Law I understand those who have a business and need to pay employees and rent plus bills especially during the pandemic but I’m talking about people who are just greedy. I’ve seen some spots pop up where the pizza is homemade and they’re working out of their homes only weekends to make extra money. I’ve also seen others who have high prices but that’s their main source of income and they have good quality food, not only focused of the money. These places cost from 15-30 depending on your pick which is fine but the one place that to me seems greedy is this spot where They only do weekends and their pizzas start at 28 for a cheese pizza 32 for pep. Other toppings vary from 4-6$ each. The owner is a well off successful business owner, who says they enjoy making pizzas for fun and the money is nice too. They work out of one of their studios. That’s where I see the difference and why I see it as being greedy bc they put profit first but I guess that’s business. See a opportunity and exploit it.
