Fast forward to 2024 12 years of horrible leadership. John Mara is loyal but clueless. I only hope Joe Schoen knows what he's doing but I'm concerned. He spent 40 mil on DJ competing against himself and then passes on Barkley who wanted to be a Gman for life. 😢.

Said it back in the winter and will say it again, obviously he's not the only issue, but having seen many Pat Shumur press conferences in Cleveland, dude is a loser and has nowhere near the personality to survive the NY media let alone Cleveland, permanent assistant coach is his DNA. Even with the new QB next year, he's not the guy you want leading your team. That's one of the many problems with this team that's an easy fix.

Mike Francesa: You've overlooked so many things I don't even know where to begin. Just last summer - The Giants just got through cleaning house in their organization. New GM, New Coaching staff, rebuilding the offensive line etc. The truth is - It takes time for a revamped offensive line to gel under a whole new coaching system. There's just no way around that. It's not fair for people to expect that offensive line to gel into a solid unit over night. No excuses - Just facts. Is it fair for anyone to expect the offensive line to be as good as the Dallas Cowboys Offensive line from day one ? No Is it fair for anyone to expect the Giants to play like a contender from day one ? No Is it fair for John Mara to expect Eli Manning to defy his age the way Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers have ? No With a new GM & Coaching staff in place - It's not fair to expect big things from the very first year. The REAL source of the Giants problems - New York expected too much from the Giants too soon. Remember - Even Bill Parcells started out with a 3-13 season in HIS first year as Giants head coach and yet - He became a coaching legend winning 2 super bowls. Even Parcells learned by personal experience that first year head coaches do in fact make a couple of bone headed mistakes, But what makes head coaches great is how much they learned from their mistakes. That alone will decide what kind of a coach Pat Shurmur will be in the long run. Shurmur strikes me as a coach that can learn from his mistakes. Don't give up on him.

Odell was quiet till he signed that huge contract. Hopefully it isn't all guaranteed.
