An initial review of the max cushion model from BROOKS the GHOST MAX. Lots of impact protection here at a great price point.
A good balance between the upper materials and midsole cushion nakes for a good alternative to the ASICS Gel Nimbus 25.
This is a shoe that i have been sent by BROOKS but they are not paying me to making this video nor will they see it before i launch it to my viewers.

I just bought the Glycerin 21s, came out early in my Scheels near by, probably the first Brooks shoes ive enjoyed, when it comes out, definitely recommend.

I ran in my Brooks Hyperion Tempos this morning for the first time in a while and really enjoyed them. Brooks generally don't disappoint. This Ghost Max looks intriguing and one on my radar. The simplicity of their shoes works. Not flashy or gimmicky but they serve their purpose well. A bit like Saucony. Quality control is very good too. Thanks for the review Edd.

@EDDBUD I think the brooks just felt a little more stable and the 6mm drop intrigued me. I already own the deviate 2 and velocity 2...both with higher drops. It was a definitely a hard decision, they both felt great.

This review got my attention as I love the Glycerin. Interested in your thoughts on this shoe vs Glycerin - 1) Midsole and 2) Sizing (I am normally a wide, but can go standard in Glycerin as it is roomy).

I’ve never run in the regular Ghost but after seeing such widespread praise for this I went in to check them out against the new 1080’s. I surprised myself greatly preferring the Brooks. Ironically, I was replacing the NovaBlast3 which I enjoyed a lot but eventually realized it was giving me strangle niggles. You nailed most of the highlights-it feels very light for its level of cush, is extremely comfortable (Brooks often excels in uppers), it’s stable, locks down beautifully and has excellent traction (I took it out of the box on a run over various wet surfaces including wet leaves) and I agree it’s a perfect pairing with the Hyperion Max, my other Brooks shoe. That midsole geometry is nicely propulsive and I don’t miss the more vertical bounce of the NovaBlasts. The build quality to price ratio is outstanding as you pointed out. I have other more “exciting” shoes in my rotation (Endo Speeds, and Pro3 for racing, Takumi Sen 8 and Metaspeed Edge+-also for racing) but this surprise is quickly becoming my go-to LR shoe that’s still versatile enough for picking up the pace yet comfortable enough for recovery as well.

Excellent review. I'm in the states I bought 2 pairs last week. Evidently the Ghost Max is selling well here, as the store I bought them from sold out quickly. I always have a problem with toe boxes in shoes they always feel to tight. This new Max seems to have alleviated the problem for me with plenty of room in the toe box. I love the cushioning and for a neutral shoe it feels very supportive. I'm very pleased with the new Max.

Love brooks edd these look brilliant I've got 3 pairs off the glycerin 2.0 edd loch Ness marathon 2022 3 hour 33min I really enjoy running in my brooks I even used them for my 145 mile race last year definitely be using mine for this week ends marathon race I know what you mean about the slush and leafs at min 🤣 typical winter so many puddles

I never ran in a Brooks but this one looks great. I'm doing a 12h road event in march and was going to use my triumph 20's but this one might be even better. The extra stability might come in handy when the legs stop functioning properly 👍👍

To help anyone who may think this feels anything like any iteration of a regular Ghost, it absolutely does not. This shoe is miles better than, not only an ordinary Ghost, but also the Glycerin 20. I agree with a previous commenter - DNA Loft is not a good midsole. But this is much, much better. That, combined with a much lower drop (6 mm vs. 12 in a regular Ghost), superb inherent stability, good impact protection, and a very good upper put this behind only the Auroras in Brooks' line-up, in my opinion. Hyperion Max would be 3rd, due only to lack of versatility. Hope this may help.

For max cushion I tried this shoe and I compare it to bondi 8. The ghost max is good, but it’s slightly less comfy and plush compared to the bondi 8. I’m 200lb and it’s been good overall in performance, comfy ride truly, I have the wide toe box. It’s roomy! Compared to the bondi 8 it’s a cheaper but great alternative for heavyset runners. Now I’m sad to say the newer bondi 8’s feel less comfortable but maybe I have to break the newer bondi 8’s in. Cheers

What a beauty and the shoe looks nice too... Well, I guess I´m having no excuses for not getting this one anymore. The Nimbus 25 in 4e fits lovely but is a bit soft and slow, so I´m having "high hopes" (great song) for this one.

picked up a pair of these the other day and after an initial steazy ~7 miles i wanted the midsole to be either softer, or bouncier. the last, upper, and outsole were all spot on however. the shoe overall reminds me of the nimbus 25 (minus misleading step-in feel) or bondi 7 but with a rocker. i'm hoping it breaks in over the next 15-20 miles and gets a bit softer so I can use it for recovery or longer days..

Oh man, it is so cool to "naturally " get our shoes dirty when we run ! My Ultraboost Light is so dirty in the upper that it turned into a gen to me ,which means it really seems to be a pair of shoes that I have used for more than 500km so far. I just clean the outsole of my shoes if they have too much dirty. For some reason, my React X infinity Run 4 in white color is totally clean after almost 200km ran, and I feel ashamed of that, LOL !

Long and slow pace, well the ghost max is in that zone. It’s more a dense cushion than the more hollow like lightness of the Superblast. Brooks is a tad cheaper too!

I’m looking into a comfortable and good energy return shoe for my debut HM. My pace currently 8-9min/km. Do u think ghost max is the shoe I’m looking for? I’ve tried ghost max on treadmill, better than my nimbus and give me the better pace.

Former Brooks runner here. That shoe might steer me back to them. Training shoes were always their Forte. Long time ago.Their racing shoe separated in a very fas race, everyone running too fast: upper separated from the rest of the shoe. Are you OK? Voice sounds rough. Stay well.

Would anyone be able to recommend a shoe for easy long runs, just trying to get in more weekly ks, ( just started running bout 2 weeks ago and am doing anywhere between 10-15 km a week Tryna aim for about 20- 25) I can run a 5km already just get sore not tired. Looking at maybe nb3 or nimbus 25. Would like to hear some other suggestions tho

It’s down to if you want soft squashy or something more firm and protecting. Triumph is a bit softer and compressive.

I don’t understand the currency you mentioned. Please convert to Earth credits. Btw I picked up a pair about a month ago and this is a very good shoe. Just wish they had a better selection of colorways for us wide-footed folk. My collection of black running shoes is unrivaled at this point.

Haven’t tried the 1080v13. This is a more nimble better grip nimbus.

I haven’t tried the Triumph but I went through a pair of Nimbus 25 and tried this Brooks Ghost Max against the new 1080. I like it better than either of the others. It’s far lighter and more nimble than the Nimbus. Much more versatile as you can pick up the pace in it. The Nimbus a bit overly plush for me. I surprised myself preferring it over the 1080 as well, which did not lock down we nicely on my feet and felt like they would have me working harder because of how soft they are. The Ghost Max has a midsole geometry that just keeps providing some propulsion in a very smooth way, even if it’s not the crazy bouncy or super soft kind of feeling. And their outsoles rival adidas/Puma for me so durability should be terrific.

I wish they used nitrogen infused DNA Loft v3 instead of DNA Loft v2. I am hoping Brooks will bring Ghost and Ghost Max to DNA Loft v3 in the next iteration.

@@EDDBUD Glycerin with DNA Loft v3 is pretty stable foam. Actually, DNA Loft v3 are more stable and firmer than Saucony Triumph 20/21 with PWRRUN+

I’m loving this one but I hear that one will have the critical foam outsole. If it has one similar to the Aurora, and they make it lighter than the previous iterations, I’d be very interested.

Let’s not beat around the bush, DNA loft is a horrible foam. Might as well run on wood planks. DNA flash is so much better, they need to make a ‘better’ race foam & use dna flash as their staple foam.

This is dna loft 2. Nothing like wood planks and a completely different use case to the Hyperion range.

@@EDDBUD fair enough, haven’t run in the V2, but still feel like the DNA Flash is much better, but doesn’t feel like a premium race foam. I absolutely love the Hyperion Max, but can’t quite get that it’s their premium foam. They need a higher tier in my opinion.

@@ThatRunnerAaron I agree about your comment they need a premium top tier foam. Once they get a PEBA foam in their top tier race shoes more runners will jump on board. However, having said that I know they do sell heaps of their staple shoes like the Ghost and Glycerin models so maybe their focus is not at the pointy end.

This is V2, and although I am not a fan of the OG Ghost I have really enjoyed this shoe. I used it for the Army 10 miler, and it was just as cushiony at the end as the beginning, but without being too soft.

LOL, I can't speak for the runners yet, a little off topic but Brooks walking shoes fixed my feet after an awful encounter with plantar fasciitis. Their leather upper walkers are of such high quality and durability that Brooks will be my first port of call for any sports shoe. Almost 7 years out of my 1st pair, 2 years into my 2nd and still no visible wear on the outsole.
