The devs focused on wand combat, and exploration quest(hide and seek quest). Everything else is a missed opportunity.

Broom pros: Faster Easier to control Can be mounted while the character is in air, which prevents fall damage Mount pros: Majestic AF More convenient for exploring close to the ground Majestic AF music when flying Looks cooler Majestic AF have I said that before? To recap: the broom is objectively better, but the mount is still my favorite, The Onyx Hippogriff specifically.

where did you encounter fall damage? or i just didn't realize when i literally jumped from a cliff? xD How much health it takes, did you ever die from falling? i didn't except if it was in a trial or some "out of bound" area.

@@gaming4K The character can fall from a very high place without taking damage, which is surprising because in other games a similar hight would definitly cause a lot of damage. But if the character falls from a VERY VERY high place, yes he will take damage or even die. In this game I like to sprint and jump from the edge of a high cliff / tower from a hight that would definitly kill my character, only to deploy the broom mid-air and fly away.

@@thomaslevy7249 it combat based not just height based. It ur in combat and fall from a height you will take damage and potentially die. Even from heights you would have survived if not in combat

Good analysis/comparison video. Summary: Broom better at T2 and T3 if boosting (but means you need to be close enough to the ground). Mount flies at max speed equivalent to broom first upgrade (T1). Trade-offs I suppose are that the mount is cumbersome, so it's only really good if you want to fly high and straight. Personally, I find flying the broom much more agile and fun, especially with part of it being trying to stay a certain distance from the ground. The mount takes longer to equip and unequip, and aside from flying straight distances/directions, is a pain to control.

I use the broom for missions and gathering, way more nimble, but the flight is more involved. If I'm feeling like enjoying the scenery and doing a long sight seeing flight, then I go mount.

your data is on point and confirms what my own very UN-scientific evaluation determined... for me and how I play one of the biggest things you did not account for was mounting time... summoning the mount from the bag takes SOOO much time compared to hop on and go with the Broom and any long distance traversal that would make up the time in the air is counteracted by using Fast Travel Floo points. Great video !!

One of the best things about the mount is they can also be used on the ground as well and they are faster than running when on the ground. Considering the only fully ground amount you get is late game using a flying mount as a ground mount is a great alternative if you're somewhere that is difficult to fly in

I found the hippogriff Mount to be the best looking but the broom to be the most practical

Important to note, mounts slow down when flying upwards, the broom does not.

I use mounts for long distance travel (floo isnt as fun) and broom for exploring and when i need to move quickly between local locations

Mounts dont have to be fast. Its about emmersion. Traveling fast on broom doesn't let you admire and observe the games world and soak it all in. Mounts are slower but just feel better overall than brooms.

So this is really useful for replaying the game and having this data. I mean, now i know its better to use a mount while long distance travel, tho to short scapades the broom is easier to control and maneuverability

My personal preference has been the broom simply because it's a lot quicker to mount/dismount. It also feels a lot better on my framerate than the beasts... The land mount is a joke unless you really want to imagine you're halfway in Pirates of the Caribbean riding Davy Jones.😂

They really need to make the beasts fight with you separately. It wouldn’t be crazy to animate it since they’ve already got the animations of the animals getting hurt and considering how well they did with the spiders I think it would be a great addition, hopefully a DLC in the near future cause otherwise mounts are just lesser brooms. Also it would make sense to be able to cast at least the basic cast while flying on a broom and especially while flying on a mount

@@pianoimpact7699 basically the idea is like using imperio on a creature while in combat. They fight for you. So to make your idea a reality, the Devs just need to remove the imperio specific effects like glowing eyes and the curse X, and keep the control effect permanent.

Before the video even starts, I’m gonna say the broom is better. At least at the point that I am at the broom is faster, easier to control and the broom comes out almost instantly, but the mount feels like it takes a second or two. This is my reaction after the video. I’m surprised that the mount is faster. It feels so slow but I guess it’s because it’s bigger so it looks like it’s going slow. Very interesting. I still prefer the broom but cool to know.

Another benefit of the broom is that you can hit the shift key and point yourself in a single direction and let it auto fly at a decent enough speed (before getting your cross country floo networks). You cannot auto fly a mount.

Its because the camera zooms out a lot. That gives the illusion that you're moving slower.

The lower you are to the ground on the broom you keep a permanent boost

quick tip, you can farm and sell beast/animals and keep only a couple of each a male and a female so that you have a costant breeding of them when you are not out catching as many as you can to then sell them at the animal shop for 120 each which is quite good. Also on a mount you cannot use revelio while sprinting :)

This is purely a speed test. Mainly for long distances you wanna travel. If you have a short distance the broom will ofc be better. But if ur on a roadtrip across the map the mount is overall better and more consistent with its speed.

What about the dive? When you dive on a mount you get a speed boost that seems to last a long time, you also don't slow down much climbing.

i tend to use the beast for long distances and use the broom for shorter distances or for when i need better manuverability.

just stay close to the ground with the broom and you will have infinite boost and you will go to that location way faster. trust me

I think the trick is to get the upgrades. Each one is easily possible after getting the upgrade that comes after it

Mounts are way slower and hard to stop when u need to attack the broom is way better but the graphorn is actually the fastest mount in the game maybe faster then the broom

You literally use unlimited boost with the broom by repeatedly tapping L2/LT as the booster meter gets empty.

Another difference I saw is you can't cast Revelio while on a mount, it will only work on a broom. So if you want to see the icons that appear will on a mount, you can't.

The flying mounts are a hybrid of ground and air, so you can freely switch without having to unequip.

@@clayhunter2572 It will make players fly and explore more. It’s not that much to do while exploring in the game compared to other great open world games. So this will give more pleasure in flying and mastering that area if the J.K Rowling universe. It’s just laziness to not add a more athletic and agile way to fly in this game in 2023! I truly hope there will be more options with the broom and quidditch in later DLC’s.
