STORY
Built-in the early 1900s by a successful beekeeper, the Abandoned Mansion of Miss Cornelia is a time capsule of a bygone era. The home was passed down through the generations, but fell into disrepair after the death of its last owner in 2015.
Today, the mansion stands as a haunting reminder of its former glory. The walls are covered in peeling paint, the floors are littered with debris, and the furniture is covered in dust. But even in its current state of decay, the mansion still retains a certain charm.
The mansion is full of secrets. What stories could the walls tell if they could speak? What mysteries lie hidden in the shadows? Only those who dare to explore the mansion will ever know.
This video takes you on a journey through the Abandoned Mansion of Miss Cornelia. You will see firsthand the effects of time and neglect, and you will be left wondering what secrets the mansion still holds.
So click play and let's explore this abandoned treasure trove of history and mystery!

It’s really sad that inheritance taxes would keep a family member from claiming their family home. Belgium should fix that, particularly if they are just going to leave the property empty and susceptible to eventual decay and destruction. How sad.

That is one of the finest examples of an Art Deco style home I have ever seen. My heart breaks for Monica. We lost our childhood home when my parents couldn't afford the mortgage payments anymore. We were devastated when it was put up for auction.

I found that house to have a lot of Art Deco influence; the beautiful wallpaper and gorgeous furniture. Again, I feel so bad for the daughter that she lost her family home. It must hurt knowing that she was barred from getting even those minor personal items, let alone some of her parent's mementos.

Yes, i agree- and the colors (use of orange/tangerine) , glossy paints, simple style of the stained glass, simple, straight lines in the kitchen many examples seem to point to the art deco era selections (exterior of home also possibly - just a quick view but did not appear “victorian” to me.) such a shame Belgium penalizes inheritances so!

Florida is constantly being rebuilt. I wish the daughter could have it back. Love how you are always so respectful of these beautiful places. Blessings

What a lovely cozy house. Loved the architecture--fireplace and door arches, coved ceilings, windows, and doors. Also loved the decorating choices. I believe the little metal tool you picked up that had three "pinchers" was used for picking up ice cubes, or pickles or olives. I have never seen nor heard of radiator humidifiers before, but what a great idea. I noticed quite a few pictures that once hung on the walls were missing. So maybe the daughter was allowed to get a few things? But the government not allowing the daughter to at least sell the furniture and household items and the house itself to help pay debts seems ridiculous. What a waste.

That house and everything in it are beautiful. It’s sad to see these places just left to decay. That place could definitely be rehabilitated. It’s structurally sound and all of the furnishings look perfect. Unfortunately taxes seem to really be so hard on people. They can’t even afford to take on a fan ily home. The style of that house is something i would love to live in.

It really makes me angry that the daughter wasn't even allowed to remove any personal or business items from the house. I agree with you it should never be that way. Did you notice the faded wall paper where someone took a painting? I will bet that one painting paid for some of the debts. They should allow her to sell the furniture to go toward the mortgage and then do a short sale on the house. You can do that in the states if your bank agrees to it.

You’re right. The house, the staircase, its ceiling and wall decoration, the small toilet and many lamps are Art Déco at its finest. Furnishings apart from the neo-classical mahogany bedroom are eclectic, many pieces so-called period furniture from the 70’s. I would move into the house immediately with my art déco collection.

Dear Lesley, in Australia there is no way any electricity company or the government would allow a trickle of free power to any household in need. Also, no bank that took a house would allow it to sit abandoned. They would sell it all as quickly as possible at what ever price they could get. I feel like there is nothing free or cheap in Australia. It is a country of greed in that way 😔Not me though, I love to feed people or pay a bill or two for them when possible ❤

I don t belive the story. My mother also stayed with grandma in the last years. When grendma died she took her things back to her house . We didn t left the food in the fridge and my mothers glasses and pills there. By the state of the daughter room which is kind of messy maibe she is also in trouble like a hamdicap or something and maybe that is why the house remained this way. Maybe they took care of eachother. Also if the daughter is still alive some of the stuff you are going through are her propriety like her jewels and letters and more. It is not an inheritance issue that she left them there. Looks like Grey Gardens if you know the documentary.

Hello sir Lesley, time stamp 27:35 -- the date on the photo is 1967😊... it's amazing how this room (time 20:10) is so kept up... someone, I think, is keeping it somewhat clean Those stairs going up are beautiful😊 Nice exploration.🌻

Completely heartbreaking for the daughter of the house to be denied her family home. The Art Deco style is stunning and at 25:20 the shadow where a picture had been so prominently placed looks to be leaning against the dresser where you are pointing out the small table at 26:50. Hopefully government rules can change and Monica can get back to this place before it is lost forever. That would be a very fitting end to this sad and all too common story. Thank you, Lesly, for sharing this amazing and meticulously maintained home.

I wonder if the room between the bedroom and small bathroom could be a dressing room.

I will always find belgian houses exquisitely beautiful, finely made works of art and the divisions or partitions of their houses speak class .Their furnitures and fixtures are seemingly of unique and stylish origin

I think it would be considered Art Deco architecture. Great video and thank you for sharing! I love your voice and commentary.
