Another thing that works well, is to use a lingerie thread in the bobbin, especially for dense designs, which can cause thread and needle breakage. Lingerie thread is usually white or black nylon (like YLI Corporation brand smile.amazon.com/YLI-Lingerie-Bobbin-Thread-1200-Yard/dp/B000UXDHRA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422146563&sr=8-1&keywords=yli+bobbin+thread), but also comes in polyester by Threadart. Threadart's bobbin thread is actually very similar to lingerie thread but in polyester, which also comes in white or black. I've been using lingerie thread as a bobbin thread for years, since 1997, and I find Threadart's bobbin thread to be exceptional for all embroidery and more affordable than nylon lingerie thread. www.threadart.com/c-83-bobbin-thread.aspx

Thank you for your 3 videos. I just got this machine and honestly am a bit intimidated by it.... Ahahahha.....I am ready to play!! I hope you make some more videos. The window and getting to what you want to make is confusing to me...( This is where the intimidation comes in) Ahahahha I am healing from some procedures on my legs and was wanting to become as familiar with her as I can before I sit down with her. (I named her Chyan, I had boys!!!) 😁

Not really about thread troubles but more thread organization

I bought 2 of these to hang next to each other on the wall (removed the legs) Works great. I keep the rack covered with plastic to keep the thread clean: Just to see what it looks like: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001DUP10/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also, does it cut the jump stitches? Thinking of purchasing this machine. Love your details organization! !

The PE770 does not cut jump stitches. But it's still a pretty good machine. I use it in conjunction with my Husqvarna Viking Diamond, which does cut the jump stitches, but costs a heck of a lot more than the PE770

Thank you for the suggestion on how to use the cones when threading the machine. I haven't tried your method yet since I just watched your video but I wondered about the first tension feed you skip over? I'm hoping it won't matter on my machine. I won't know until I try! If it worked for you it should work for me too, right? Thank you again. This gives me hope!

Thank you. I will take a look at the other video. I had a Pfaff embroidery machine, very expensive gift from my husband that I loved embroidering with, but the company does not support the programming or provide complimentary up grades to their "expensive" systems. Instead they force their customers to fork out another thousand or so for the upgrade program, making the one you have obsolete!. I was very disillusioned by this and will never purchase anything from Pfaff again. My machine works great but only as a sewing machine now. Crooked company. Anyway, that is when I discovered Brother! I am so happy with my machine but was so frustrated when I couldn't get it to sew using thread on cones. That's why I'm so happy to have stumbled on your video. I'm a subscriber now! Thank you for your quick reply.

Christine Ward So happy you liked my video, i wish I could dedicate more time to make more. I was not a sewer ever, it always frustrated me, and i never thought much about embroidery, but when I saw an affordable embroidery machine, i decided to give it a try. Problem was, I wasn't content to just do canned, simple vector art designs, I wanted to do my own from photos, so I jumped in to the deep end knowing absolutely nothing about any of it! Huge learning curve, even the pros who teach it couldn't offer me software that would do a particular thing I needed at any price, so I just had to figure it out by trial and error. I have a lot of hobbies and skills, but this was definitely the most challenging. The most limiting thing with custom designs on this machine is the bare bones screen. Very hard to assign your own colors to certain parts and know which screen matches that part. But it's doable if you keep a lot of notes and keep your wits about you. I never found anything better than the program called Sew Art, so that is what I use.

I understand what you mean. I too have a lot of hobbies and skills and embroidery has been a big part of that until I suddenly couldn't connect my machine with the necessary on line programming! I was in a bit of a panic thinking I had to sell and get what I could out of my collection of cone thread to buy everything in spool form! Geez! What an upset that was!.. What you want to do sound fantastic but I do understand about the limited view of what is being embroidered on the tiny screen. I usually print out my design in detail which works for what I do but I can imagine the complications you would run into wish your photo art. If you don't know about www.qemblem.com , I can highly recommend their services. They will bend over backwards to achieve what your vision is. They really came through for me when other told me it was impossible to do what I wanted. Always good to have another good source to turn to in your "black" book of embroidery! LOL

Christine Ward Thanks! I was wishing I could find someone to digitize complex things, I just wondered if it would be hard for them to come up with what I wanted. I basically need neater more orderly stitches without tons of jump stitches to count. I have not figured out how to set the stitch patterns, so they sew out a little wooly, which I actually like for animals, but it's hard on the machine and needle to sometimes go over stitches multiple times.

@btpuppy2 Hi, I have a question about embroidery. You sound experienced in embroidering so asking few question. I bought brother se400 recently and tried my first embroidery with name. But whole name embroidered with lower bobbin white thread. I have few spools of embroidery thread which are like your big cone shaped bobbins. I put my spool in coffee cup like u did in this video. But machine did not use upper thread at all. Whole embroidery appeared in lower thread that is white bobbin thread came with machine. Can you please suggest something that might be the problem here. Appreciate your response. Thanks

Hi! Does this machine tell you which color to change the thread to?
@bonjoAOL
@bonjoAOL 9 жыл бұрын
The PE770 does stop and tell you which color to change to, but you're not limited to the design's colors. You can use any color you wish. I prefer to use my embroidery software when I'm stitching out designs, whether on the PE770 or my Viking Diamond. I have the design up on my PC monitor to see the colors and use whatever color I want. For instance, when I'm looking at the design in color on my PC monitor, I can see the list of colors and what area of the design they appear. But I don't have to use the exact brand or color number....if the next color is a yellow, I just use one of the yellows in my stock of thread that matches the closest to the design image. But, you're not limited to using the colors as they are shown on the design image. You can use orange, or pink, or red, or white instead of the yellow. It's all up to you. It doesn't matter if you don't have the exact thread color and number as what the design shows, You can use whatever brand and color you have.
