Brother Polight opened up to VladTV about the importance of the black culture learning about the importance of learning financial planning. He explained that the hip-hop culture is focusing on fashion and wearing chains when they should be learning about running a business, the types of homes to invest in, and the matrix of owning a credit card.
During the conversation, Brother Polight explains that it's important for people to sacrifice to accommodate the next generation, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

I agree with this dude 100 percent . As a Mexican American and insurance broker , I personally have experienced how minorities lack basic knowledge on financial matters, most have no type of insurance or retirement plan and is pretty sad . Jews and other races have years of compound knowledge and wealth . We need to step our game up as minorities and educate our people on finances to secure a better future .

My mom did they same thing. Everything was in order when she died. In fact 10 years prior to her death we planned everything, cuz I'm the oldest, and it was the hardest thing to do. But I am grateful because I was prepared to handle everything. She had no debt, everything was straight, she had a wonderful home going, my brother and I were straight financially because she made sure we were good and that we were able to put money aside for our children as well. My aunties have done the same thing and I'm doing it now for my son and preparing him to do the same. I'm proud of my family too.

Also, I can attest to this because both of my parents are deceased. Insurance companies don't go out of their way to explain larger insurance payouts to black people, even if your income can afford the premiums. And, most black people don't question it. My parents had insurance policies, but after their deaths, I researched and found out that each of them would have qualified for a 5 digit policy instead of a 4 digit policy. In my opinion, the insurance companies are programmed to sell low payout policies to minorities.

Polight is definitely dropping some jewels in this segment. The mortgage industry is designed for you to default. When you are approved to buy a home, the mortgage company specifies the maximum monthly mortgage payment (homeowners principal, interest, insurance, real estate taxes, etc.) that you can afford based on your income and debt obligations. I purchased a home three years ago and was approved for an amount that was too much based on my income. I could have purchased a five bedroom home with a pool. Thankfully I made it a point to not live beyond my means. I purchased a home and my mortgage payment is almost 50% less than the maximum for which I was approved. I had enough sense to avoid the trap, but some are not so lucky. Fortunately, my wife and I increased our total income by nearly $50k since then and we can afford to upgrade when decide to move.

Not me! Nowhere in the New Testament does it say that we have to give 10% of our cash earnings to the church. But these hustler pastors keep preaching the same Old Testament Bible verse (Malachi 3) to try to justify collecting tithes. Then, in the same breath, they will say that the Old Testament doesn't apply to this era and that we are no longer under the law but Grace. The cherrypicking of scriptures to suit their agenda is hypocrisy at its finest!

I have studied Jewish people and my people and compared the two. I realized Jewish people are caring about the generation to come after them. They set up the next generation with wealth thru investments and life insurance. I argued this point t with my dad and he said something that bothered me. He said, “ if I leave money to my kids when I die, if my son is not smart he will blow the money, if my son is smart he can make his own money”. I then realized why my people are not successful, and that is because of my dad’s mentality. His philosophy is lazy and a cop out. Instead he should think , if my son is not smart I should educate him, my son that is smart I should encourage him and help him be more successful. I don’t blame my dad since no one taught him to be a deep thinker and think about generation rather then think about today only.

The problem is that the minorities who become wealthy do not share their knowledge with their community when they gain wealth, unlike Asians, Jewish people and WASP Americans. Thank GOD for KZfaq and for generous self-made millionaires like Graham Stephan who shares his financial knowledge with the public! Bro. Polight, is a MAD GENIUS IN THE SAME VIEN AS A MAD SCIENTIST. But just like today's RAP ARTIST, he came through the streets, HE FANAGLED the streets, and USED the streets as FUEL TO TRAVEL AND LAND SOMEWHERE ELSE. All he had to do was become self made, through the INFO that he has ACQUIRED, and simply CONDUCT OR HOLD CLASSES AND CHARGE PEOPLE FOR THAT INFORMATION, BUT HE DIDN'T; WHY, BECAUSE THAT WOULD OF TAKEN LONGER AND HIS PERSONAL AMBITIONS HAD A SHORTER FUSE THAN THAT! Anybody who is successful can turn around and sell their FORMULA to CONSUMERS, BUT HE CHOSE OTHER-WISE, VLAD NEEDS TO ASK HIM THOSE QUESTIONS, JUST LIKE WHEN HE INTERVIEWS A RAP ARTIST AND ASKS THEM ALL SORTS OF SELF INDICTING QUESTIONS! This all boils down to investing and money managing. Black people don't save money for the future, they live in the now too much. Example, living in section 8 housing driving a 96 civic but putting $4,000 rims on the car... or buying $10k worth of jewellery instead of saving up that money to put a down payment on a house. They do not build equity, generally black people buy materials that depreciate . This only applies to the black kids that "get nothing". However, the ones they do get something is a result of their parents having good money management skills.

I don't know any black person who spends 10K on jewelry. At least not everyday black people......I only see that with wealthy rappers. Your average black person splurges on 190.00 Jordans and Polo Ralph Lauren. Or they might buy the Lexus when they really should get a Camry.

Billy94 Shit most of the black people I know were raised by a single mother or their grandmother. In fact quite a few were raised by their grandmother. It's kind of funny reading some of the posts from the men because most of them don't even support their children and are on this video talking about leaving their kids something. Am I missing something.

Build a your legacy and Leave your legacy. That’s how you keep your old money going. Don’t forget African Americans started late due to slavery and we just started to own property. Just think back to 90 years ago. It’s time to bridge the gap.

Overall this video was meant to promote financial literacy. regardless of race you could benefit from watching. Rather than doing so you choose to discuss race when in this video he talks about not pulling the race card.
