This reminds me of the time I used to spend watching my mom sew clothes, pillows, vision quilts for special needs infants, dolls, etc on her metal electric White sewing machine. Instead of a control pedal it used a knee flange to precisely control the speed of the machine. Isn't it odd how the general shape of sewing machines hasn't really changed from last century to this century?

It really hasn't changed much. Until the last year or so, I hadn't touched a sewing machine in, well, let' say a VERY long time.

My biggest problem is keeping a steady speed on the foot pedal and sewing a straight stitch. You make it look so easy!! Granted I haven't tried sewing with my se1950 yet. Just using my other Brother. Great video!! I really loved this. Thank you so much for sharing.

Yours run so smoothly the embroidery looks perfect! I’ve been have problems with my machine lately, my top thread keeps bunching up or the thread just breaks, I embroider sweatshirts, do you Know what I can do to fix this?

I have the same issue, but with breaks use a stronger needle. I use the gold one that I bought from Joanna

We have that happen sometimes too. Check your threading. Sometimes if we turn the spool the other way it works better too. Weird, right?

Makes hooping material a lot easier and avoids hoop marks left on material.

Why the clear plastic piece, do you switch out bobbin for each color or does color of bobbin thread make a difference? Questions for embroidery not the sewing.

Momma told me the bobbin color should be black or white. She's not sure why either! The color doesn't really matter, but we use white with everything. I know some people who change the color to match the embroidery. Seems like a lot of work tho, right?

did you happen to change the tension on the design or is it set to 4? I just got this machine and im having trouble getting a clean design! I end up having lines in the middle! Any advice?

Thank you. I loved the SE1900 so much that I upgraded to the SE2000. I love both models but the upgrade on the SE2000 like the automatic jump stitch cutting is awesome.

@@FamilyUnit one more question. I went back and looked at all three of the SE models. I noticed they have an SE1950. What do you think about that one? The 2000 is just way out of my price range.

@@kimberlysmith2688 The only difference between the Brother SE1900 and SE1950 is the color and pattern of the faceplate on the front of the machine. Crazy, right? The 1950 does NOT have WiFi design transfer like the 2000.

I've had that happen and rethreading it properly is how I resolved it. I've even broken a couple needles as a result. :(

Stabilizer is the foundation when doing embroidery and is a necessity to support your fabric and thread. Without it, you might have puckering and your fabric may distort.

I just bought this machine yesterday, because a girl I follow uses a 5x12 hoop. But you’re saying you can only use 5x7. I’m now confused. Can you use a 5x12?

Brothers site says it goes as large as 5x7, but I I did a quick search and some have used the 5x12. Who knew! Give it a try.

We've used several Fiverr and Etsy people to digitize for us. It's about $5 a design. The software is crazy expensive - like $1000 and up!

1. use magnetic strip is better than those magnetic buttons. Strips, light weight and strong, which holds the fabric much tighter and easier, are much better than the stupid buttons. 2. I don't see significant changes from the original SE 400 except for color screen, 5x7 hoop and the price. Whatever breaks will still break, like the needle in the demo. The major drawback for SE machines is its automatic threader. Every once a while you'd have to bring to the service for replacement of the broken hook. It costs between $150 to $200. 3. I bet this one is still the same.

Great tip about the magnetic strip! Investigating this today. And COMPLETELY agree. The automatic threader can be weird, and we've broken several needles. Thankfully, these issues are easily resolved. We haven't suffered the broken hook yet (knock on wood) but it's coming. Still a lot less cost than buying and servicing the Viking we almost bought at Joann's.
