@LilDemona I am relieved that at least the father had some integrity and self awareness to realise he was enabling Jake and corrected himself. His mother was firmly in Jake's camp and had to be pushed out of it and kept out. Having favourites is a cruel thing to do as a parent.

This. I grew up in a family that constantly disrespected me and called me stupid. It’s like when you grow up like that even if you grow a spine everyone around you is trying to snap it. I was lucky because I finally opened my eyes and grew a spine but it was a nightmare because I was fighting everyone while trying to grow into my own person and they fought so hard too! To them I was just being a b***ch. It was strange and unusual for them to see me fight back and stand up for myself. They felt it was their duty to put me back in my “place”. They actually got physical with me and only started to respect me when I called the police on my own sisters for attacking me. I went no contact for a long time and everyone thought I was out of their lives. They eventually one by one apologized because both of my sisters got married to horrible men because abuse was still normal in their minds. My marriage is still happy and healthy years later and it made them realize that what I had been saying about respect was right all along and they were the ones that were wrong. They’ve admitted it’s hard to be in the same room with my husband and I because he’s kind to me and he talks to me like a person and they’ve never had a man talk to them like that before. So yeah I get where OP is coming from. Because I feel like I could have very easily been in his situation.

Getting married over pregnancy is fine, as this action is mostly for the child, people have to own up to consequences. Paternity test right after birth though should be mandatory before any birth certificates are finalized. People asking/commenting a man to raise a child not his own, from another man that is almost an enemy no less is brain dead, ask yourselves if you are willing to do that sacrifice yourselves before preaching to others.

My heart breaks for the child, he is the innocent party and yet he is being punished. He lost the man who he saw as Dad and it looks like it his grandparents have gone no contact as well. He must be so confused. Poor kid

Exactly, why would you want to raise another man's child when it's not a step parent situation? And he would unlikely be able to get custody because biologically the child is not his and most courts side with a mother no matter how crazy they are. No offense to good mom out there.
